"I stand accused of mayhem... I shower it like none other..."

Hololena rolled over in her bed, rubbing her eyes. The maid had left a snack on her nightstand so she could eat while waiting for dinner to be served. The young princess scooched her body up and slid the tray over onto her bed, sliding it onto her lap. A beef sandwich laid under the tray with a side of cheese and a pear. Hololena bit into the sandwich, chewing contemplatively. With a flick of her wrist, the skeleton that she insisted be kept in her room sprung to life, bringing her an advanced book of dark spells and potions.
The skeleton then arranged himself back on the hook and went back to sleep, waiting for when his mistress summoned his services again....

Hololena flipped through the pages of her book, studying every spell she could see. Unfortunately, due to her frail health, she was unable to cast Soul Rip, a spell that could tear an opponent's soul from their bodies. A spell like that could easily kill her and she was already on a limited time. Taking another bite of her sandwich and wiping the crumbs off of her book, she kept reading.
Necromancy was an art that has been banned in every kingdom, but reading about it wasn't forbidden in any way, otherwise she'd have been executed long ago. Her brother seemed to have a hint of her activities, but he never said anything about it to her. And it was better for him, really. Even if she couldn't use Soul Rip to its' fullest potential, being decapitated was just as bad, as her scythe was always willing to fulfill the job that her magic could not. Hololena had no problem killing her brother to protect her secret, even if her secret was killing her slowly.
The best physician's in the Dark Kingdom and the kingdoms beyond couldn't figure out what was wrong with her. First, her eyes turned pale gray and stopped responding to the light, and people assumed she was blind (she insisted that she could see perfectly. Everyone told her to hush and let the doctors talk), then her legs became weak and she was unable to support her own weight. Lastly, she became extremely ill, coughing up blood and breaking out in fevers. She was unable to leave her kingdom due to this mysterious illness.
Then Lady Remina found her books on necromancy. Lady Remina, the woman her father adopted after her father went missing did not care much for Hololena and had every reason to tell the king her secret, thus condemning her to the chopping block for practicing necromancy.
Even though she had every reason to, Remina kept her mouth shut. Her reason behind it was a mystery, but Hololena didn't care. As long as she didn't tell, she'd be fine.

The blue flower in her hair slid out onto the page. Picking it up, she smiled and thought about her love, Prince Cole. She longed to see him and wished he was here with her, holding her as he told her stories of his adventures around Celestria. She'd snuggle close to him and fall asleep in his arms and he would be gone, leaving a love letter behind...

Saíracaz Zenitram, Demon King of Obsidia

The day was won and victory came swift to the king and his band of knights. Reports of strange monsters appearing out in the farmlands had called the attention of the king and so with a handful of knights Saíracaz had rode out to conquer the beasts. It was easy even though these creatures were strange but now, after having a bath and being give his change of clothes from a young maid blushing to be of use to the handsome and surly eyed king, Saíracaz arrived to the door of his princess's room and knocks upon the door to announce his presence before attempting to see his fragile daughter. "Hololena? Are you awake my dear? I wanted to see how you're doing."

"I stand accused of mayhem... I shower it like none other..."

The princess quickly hid her book under a compartment under her pillow, carefully replacing the pillow and laying her head down. Her father simply could not find out about her practicing necromancy.
Necromancy was the dark art of raising the dead to do ones' bidding. One does not generally become a necromancer with the intent on bettering humanity. It showed a clear disdain for life and all things natural. However, Hololena adored necromancy. It helped her understand the meaning of death and pain, and helped her cope with her own mother's death. The mother she never knew. Her brother would always say he hated her for killing their mother and while Hololena was protected by her father and told that it wasn't her fault, she remembered. And one day, she came across a book speaking of necromancy. Of course, it spoke ill of the art, citing it as "a spit in the face of all things holy. The goddess Kuolena's dark gift that no one wants. Practicing the dark abomination will surely result in the death of the caster."
Naturally, Hololena did the exact opposite of what was advised and acquired spellbooks on the art of necromancy.
However, necromancy was no good without a teacher and mistakes were not forgiven.
The first stage of her illness was when her eyes lost their color. Her father was horrified that the bright, shiny red of his daughter's eyes replaced with a dull, steel gray. They believed her to be blind (despite her objections that she could see perfectly fine.)
The next stage was extreme fatigue, coughing up blood and weight loss.
The final stage was the loss of her ability to walk.
Her father scoured Celestria, trying to find the best doctors, healers, anyone who could heal his daughter, but to no avail. Her body remained broken.
However, another strange thing happened: She became contemptuous and spiteful of all things living. Granted, she put on a face for her family and the public, but to those unfortunate enough to catch her on an off day, the felt her wrath.
Hololena had lost her soul to the dark art of necromancy.
The princess took a deep breath, mentally preparing herself for the visit, "Yes, father? Please, come in!" She said weakly, inviting him into her room...

Saíracaz Zenitram, Demon King of Obsidia

As the king open the door he had a soft smile to see his daughter still alive, breathing with him on this earth for the time he had her here. The gods and goddesses know how much this man worried for his daughter for he pray to Luna most every night and every night since his daughter had been diagnosed with her strange affliction. He always felt in some way that her condition was his fault somehow. He felt that his daughter's cursed like state was his fault for he hadn't completely brought peace to his lands. Still there was space for his country to grow , both in land and in might, but there was also the mirrormancers still walking this earth...and perhaps that was why his daughter was that way she was.

"There's my little lily." The mighty king of all the dark lands would say with his deep and soothing voice while using a pet name for his little daughter. His calm steps who sound his anxiousness to hold his daughter and his careful arms would tell her of his ever careful nature around her. "It amazes me how much like your mother you appear at the face." He complements Hololena as his arms let go. "How are you feeling today?"

"I stand accused of mayhem... I shower it like none other..."

Hololena's eye twitched as her father pulled her close to him gently, calling her his "lily" and speaking to her in gentle tones. Much like the owner of a puppy. Him touching her made her want to puke, but she managed to hold it in. Nuzzling him and smiling, she touched her father's face, "Thank you, father..." She said in a small voice. "I'm feeling well today. Did you need to visit me for something?" She was confined to her room at the moment, being unable to reach her heavy, mahogany wheelchair that her father had made for her.
The maid parked it a bit too far away, under the impression the she couldn't see. Although, she could have just had her skeleton (whom she named Nito) get it for her, but seeing as that would arouse suspicion, she wouldn't risk it.
She was a bit stir crazy. Being ill was quite boring to her, being the active and curious person that she was. She wished she was able to walk and explore all of the secrets her home had to offer...

Saíracaz Zenitram, Demon King of Obsidia

"Why, my daughter, I am hurt." The king says in a playful tone. "I need no reason to see my daughter except for the fact you are of my blood and flesh, and that I love you." As true as his thick skin was so too was his words. The king that could kill so many without so much as batting an eyelash also had a weakness: his family. A hard burdened life has forced Saíracaz to take many dark roads and make harsh dissension but a part of his past which haunts Saíracaz the most was the fact he was not there for the birth of his daughter; And at that same moment his wife's death. Hololena was like a vision of her mother but with his own features which made her a last testament of sorts of her mother in the eyes of Saíracaz. His daughter was the last gift his wife would ever give to him and because of that he holds Hololena dear to him as life itself. Though her eyes have faded from crimson to pale blues he hopes soon to find a cure for her sight and her condition he is beginning to wonder if it were a curse placed on him for not being there for his wife's final hours.

"Actually, there is a reason I came to see you Hololena." Saíracaz would pull away a little and give his daughter some space and began calmly walking her room to admire how she had the help set things up for her. "Your brother and I shall be heading to Viypa for the festival they are hosting as a meeting spot from I and Queen Artemis toe speak about the new peace treaty." His hands happen upon the chin of the skeleton hanging there with no life or stare and there in its empty eyes the king thinks of what feeling befalls him when seeing death, and how much he hated death itself. "Your brother and I shall be leaving this night to arrive there by morning...I guess I wanted to see you before I left." He hoped his daughter didn't feel to alone when he and Prince Navi were to leave her here. She might not know it but whenever he leaves his daughter's side he feels the guilt he felt when he left her mother for bloodshed rather than be by her side for the childbirth, but as a king he carries on and leave his daughter with a simple hug and a worded goodbye before carefuly closing her door behind him.
