For the discussion between Lord Titanus and Lady Chhatrapati, Susumu listened. The more he heard, and as he began to think through how the different aspects would work together, he found himself understanding the logic behind the things that were being proposed and asked about. If the lady and lord had reached an agreement about the knight Hisoka, then Susumu felt that the knight would be properly briefed on those duties later, should he accept them. Curious, the steward of Kaishin glanced to the Hisoka. The knight, perhaps sensing he was being watched, looked up. Susumu raised an eyebrow. Hisoka's shoulders only slightly shifted, suggesting relief, and his expression showed something of the same before he nodded slightly. He was relieved to be of use to his home region. Naturally.
Susumu returned all attention, then, to the conversation. "I agree that there should be free trade within Ethe. We can begin writing up laws and tax codes to prepare for when the barrier falls."
That part was complicated, yes, but it could be managed if they borrowed from versions of tax laws that were in place before the eruption. Perhaps the crown could give better insight to these things.
"The people of Kaishin wish nothing more than her majesty to maintain her throne and return to power, also. May she recover well. As for focused attention in the north.... for our population, I do not oppose this idea for efficiency's sake." Susumu's tone remained even and conversational. This was the essence of business, as he understood, which wasn't terribly different to an exchange between powerful people, whether it was limited to a glance or moved to greater extremes, such as when weapons were brought to bear. "Perhaps it would suit us to explore this obsidian city.... Do you have a team prepared to explore, Lady Chhatrapati?"
