❝ l a y x m e x g e n t l y x i n x the x c o l d x d a r k x e a r t h x . . . ❝ She didn't ever think she'd ever been so terrified in her life, Layla currently was lost in the outskirts of Italy looking for her friends she tagged along to come here with. She never thought she'd ever get lost in Italy, her phone was in the car they took off without her too, plus she was in a foreign country so she wasn't able to call or text any of her friends. The small handful of people she passed by didn't know English, also known as the only language she spoke, her Italian to English dictionary was also in the car her friends took off in. Hopefully she was walking in the correct direction to make it to the city center, she read every sign she passed looking for one that read 'centro della città'. She'd been walking for about half an hour and there still weren't any signs that said those words in Italian.
Seeing a male that looked about her age, she smiled, hoping he knew at least a small amount of English. "Hi, I'm Layla, I lost my friends and I don't know any Italian." She started, her eyes on the verge of filling up with tears. Layla was prepared for him to look at her funny and shake his head telling her no, meaning he didn't understand what she was saying. Although when he spoke English in his thick accent, she let out a relieved breath and smiled, her eyes filling with tears of joy. Layla was prepared to continue walking until she found the city center to find someone who knew English, "I don't even know if I'm walking the correct way to the city center." She admitted, hoping he'd point her to the correct direction to get there.
She'd ask to borrow his phone but she knew her friend's phones wouldn't woke in the middle of Rome, she didn't know the correct name for the hotel they were staying at either, it was too much of a complicated name for her to remember. Although it was typed in her phone that was in the back seat of the rental car her friends left in without her. Wishing she grabbed her purse out of her bag so she'd have her wallet to get some food, she was sadly left with nothing except some loose change in her pockets. Her friends planned on exploring this 'locals only' area that was a couple of miles away from the middle of Rome, then they were going to get food. Layla purposely skipped out on breakfast this morning so she could fill herself with the amazing food they had here. Her favorite she's tried so far was scaloppine alla romana. It looked a little odd but was delicious. Connecting her worried dark brown eyes with his, she prayed he'd help her.
