Set near a village lost to time, surrounded by only trees, mountains, and grass. Few noises are made, from the soft singing of the wind to the soft babbling of the creek. It is a silent place, once a living village it is now nothing but a husk where only one soul remains, a woman who resigns herself to solitude for unknown reasons.
However, for now she seems to have company. Here a little board of chess has been set up for the two, but is it really only one game they are playing?

◢Location: Lost Village <---> Mood: Calm <---> Thoughts: Now where might she be?◣
"What use does history have..." ╔═════════════════════════════════════════════════════╗ The wind moved so softly over the green plains, little obstructing its path as each blade blended in the direction of the natural force. It was a peaceful place though somewhat eerie do to this. No voices came from the village, no souls walked the long forgotten roads of dirt and stone. Abandoned farm equipment littered the fields if one looked close enough, but there were little to no signs of life apart of a freshly cut tree, a stack of logs and an axe buried in the thin stump. To most no one would appear to live there, forgotten to the ages. Who knew what manner of village it had been? A farming village? A trader village? A simple haven? No one would know except the nature of this lost bastion except for a single, solitary soul that lived there. A soul who kept the village in a near pristine condition, no one knew she was there, or at least generally no one would know the presence of the lone warden of the lost town. This woman, a werebeast was currently setting something up. Pulling a chair over to an old wooden bridge that sat over the gentle creek in which only small fish swam. The woman let out a small huff. There was already a number of things there at the bridge that she had brought forth. Se began the task of setting things up, upon the ashwood table, not cut from any tree around the area. Upon it she placed a chess board, the piece lacking a normal quality. Hand carved and details. With the board set up the woman would place a pot and two cups upon the table. With that the woman would sit, draping her large, fluffy tail over as she pulled from her side a pipe. She then struck a match and lit the pipe before taking a few gentle puffs. As she let the smoke leave her lungs it would seemingly hang about for a bit before fading. The smell was not typical, it was more or less sweet and pleasant. The old fox would direct her yellow eyes outward, scanning the landscape. She began to speak to herself "The stranger who has traveled far, The friend with welcome smile," she began to recite herself a little poem to pass the time "All sorts of men who come and go Meet at this mountain stile,—" she packed in more herbs, held in a small pouch kept tired to the inside of her clothes. She took a few more puffs and let the air out once again, this time with a peace-filled hiss "They meet and rest awhile." she whispered. She closed her eyes for a moment before opening them again, sitting back into her wooden chair. She looked into the creek, the fish swimming on by without a care in the world "Come to me beloved bird..." she whispered, but she spoke of no real avian creature, but a friend she had sent a letter to tell her where she was. She had initially planned not to let anyone know where she resided, but something compelled her to send an old letter to someone close. She paid no mind to its true intention, she would simply enjoy this little get together with her. She closed her eyes to wait, her ears twitching ever so lightly at the noises of the air, the occasional jump of fish, the fall of a leaf. How peaceful things were as she sat there and smoked enjoying her loneliness. ╚═════════════════════════════════════════════════════╝ "if you so ignore it?"

She did not know where her old friend was, not that she ever did if she did not wish to be found, and the suddenness of it was welcomed. She had been working far too hard at her studies, making sure there was nothing that could go wrong with the college, that this was a welcomed distraction. She had just placed her inks and quills down onto the table when she stood and made herself decent. It wasn't every day she was meeting her close friend, and seeing as they had been a part for so long, Neta just wanted to look somewhat nice. (Not that she really noticed the ink staining her fingers or the smudge on her cheek.)
Patting herself down one more time, the mage placed her hand out into the room. In the air where she had placed her hand, fingers together and palm facing outward, suddenly wasn't just air anymore. It was if she had plunged her fingers through a tapestry, and as swiftly as she did she tore downward. The tapestry that was the world broke in two as she created a portal right in her office. The sweet melody of her friend echoed through the rift, and it caused her to smile wide before the woman stepped through to the other side.
The sudden air and sunlight hit her like a ton of bricks. She made her walks throughout Karst all the time, but it was different when she was not in the slight claustrophobic streets. She blinked a few times, shaking her head, before blinking furiously toward where she thought the fox would be sitting. It was as if all thought left her in that moment other than the sudden happiness that filled her throat. A smile is the only thing that she could exude, something so pure that she hoped it would say all the things she could not at the moment.
Swallowing hard, trying to clear her gullet so she could speak, Netami came to the board and chairs that were set out for her. "Flora," she whispered, nodding slightly so that she would not shed a tear. "It's been... a long while. An entire 'hop' and years, to be exact." She looked down to the chess board, gasping lightly. "You even brought our board!" ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

◢Location: Lost Village <---> Mood: Calm <---> Thoughts:Netami...◣
"What use does history have..." ╔═════════════════════════════════════════════════════╗ Flora continued to focus on the simplicity of the sound, counting the leaves that touched the ground an the fish that jumped. Where once the fox in her esteem would count the feet that moved up the road, this was all that was left. A silent game she played to pass the months, a tragic song she sang to pass the untold years she spent in seclusion in a place that time no longer touched. The fox allowed her lips to part when she counted, no sound leaving besides a breath. The only other action was when she decided to puff of her infamous pipe. Something was as much a part of her nature that the tail that gently swayed behind her. However, when the world before her ripped apart her eyes opened. Those orange orbs looking forward with lack of surprise at its vandal. The eyes that may as well have held the sun within them, a slight glow became even bright as a familiar presence stepped through. She slowly stood up, gently place her pipe aside as the monumentally sized fox looked down upon an old friend. One of the few Flora, or rather, Saho had place unbending trust and care. Netami Mikaelson, or rather The Archmage of Karst. A face she had not seen in so longer, a scent that had long faded from her air, but not her memory. It was silent for a moment as the two looked to each other, before she heard that lovely voice call her name or rather, what would somewhat be her name. Saho was well aware base upon previous conversation, she herself tending to have a sort of enlightenment for these multiple lives and strings that bound her to the white-haired woman. She smiled, gentle at first as she remarked upon ho long it had been. She gave a small chuckled "Oh yes, a number of ages indeed." she spoke. She looked to the board as her friend commented on it. It was the same "You did not think I would call you here without some manner of offering did you?" she would chuckle. She observed her for a moment, taking in the figure. She stepped forward for a moment "Netami..." she gently took Netami's stained hands and brought them up " You have been working." she said and without hesitation delivered a kiss to her hands. She brought them to her kimono and began to clean them for the archmage without hesitation. It wouldn't be too shocking, Saho had a nature about her that drove her actions. She even notice the smudge on her cheek an began to gently clean it. She took a moment to continue her observance before she pulled the Archmage in for a hug which she did not give often. She was still smiling "How have you been?" she asked. ╚═════════════════════════════════════════════════════╝ "if you so ignore it?"

The mage had her doubts, with space magic and alternate universes came... complications, but they were all wiped away when she saw her friend's eyes. They were the eyes of the same woman she had fought, loved, and wandered beside.
She smirked and shook her head, looking back down to the chess board. "No, of course not. This is heavenly compared to your ship and the tea breaks there." Her dead eyes looked around the area, straining to see a few miles away. "You are all alone here. Why don't you come back to Karst with me? Stay in the college. I am... not who I used to be," she said sadly, relenting of the decline in ability.
She mentally smacked herself in the head, right after jumping slightly, as Saho came closer. Netami didn't realize she had ink stains still all over her, but a smile crept onto her face as the fox began cleaning her up. It was gentle, familiar, and it made the mage leave a ghost of a smile on her features as she watched. After she was done, Netami let her hand drop back to her side before bolting forward and giving the woman a big hug. It was awkward seeing as Saho was so much taller than her, but it felt just right.
Squished into the fox's kimono, Neta's muffled reply came. "I've been good. I've been really, really good. The college is astounding, F-Saho. I can do anything I wish with my magic. Well... as long as it doesn't kill anyone." She sniffled though no tears were falling from her eyes, and she disconnected. "Pawn to G3." ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

◢Location: Lost Village <---> Mood: Calm <---> Thoughts: Time to dance...◣
"What use does history have..." ╔═════════════════════════════════════════════════════╗ Saho smiled at her friend and chuckled "Much more stable ground for us to enjoy the tea, and less chaos I would presume." she ran a hand through her blonde hair. Upon mention of moving to Karst, the woman would slightly frown "I think we have both changed dear friend, tis what time does to the best of us is it not?" she offered a kind smile though stated nothing about moving. There was something bothering the fox, something that was obviously tied to her residence here.
Saho looked at Netami and chuckled "I'm glad you've been doing well. You were always gifted." she said and moved over to the board as they disconnected. As she called out her move Flora would gently take one of the white pieces and move it for her before moving her own "Pawn to C5." she chuckled and began to pack her pipe once again as she settled into her chair.
The fox woman looked around the place and then back. A beautiful place, so devoid of people that might defile it.She relit her pipe though she made sure to blow the smoke in a direction it would not bother her old friend. She continued to direct her fiery eyes to the adorable figure she had known so long "So I'm guessing that the mages at Karst have come to realize they cannot tell an elder what she might do with her abilities?" she smirked, showing a single fang "I do hope you aren't overworking yourself. I recall always having to worry of such with you."
The woman's ears would continue to twitch the more noises she picked up. She gently reached over and poured out the tea. It was a unique and special blend unique to Flora, in both this universe and any other though without the blood here. It tasted quite a bit like cinnamon though subdued. Saho's teas were very good for one's health, even able to stave off an in some cases rid one of sickness and didn't taste bitter. She never shared the method with anyone, a secret that would always remain with her.
The fox waited to hear the answers to her questions and for her opponent to declare her next move as she took a sip of her tea, gently using her tail to push Netami's towards her. ╚═════════════════════════════════════════════════════╝ "if you so ignore it?"

Saho was right, there were many things that have changed between them, there should be no reason for the mage to try to entice the other into moving in with her. They had never been that before, there was no reason to will it now. She remembered the time she was offered such by the woman, and while it came to fruition, it wasn't like Neta had anything or anywhere else to go. It was a common interest for both of them to stay amongst each other, live together, and the fox's house was marvelously big so the mage wasn't taking up space.
The mage began fidgeting when Saho called her gifted. It was not in the woman's nature to take compliments well, even if she truly deserved them. She had the curse of not thinking too highly of herself, seeing as she simply could not figure out what everyone else saw in her. She wasn't gifted, she just knew how to make things work. If another did the same, would they be called as such? No, Netami doubted it. It still felt nice, she woefully admitted to herself as she sat opposite of her friend.
Chuckling Netami responded, "I have a good friendship with the archmage. Most everything he says goes when in the 'lesser' quarter such as the college is involved. It allows me my work, and I allow him my research if he asks." The albino blushed for a moment. "No, never, dear friend. There is much to do at the college but my time is usually spent trying to find new ingredients for my spells."
She smiled when the tea was poured and instantly picked it up to smell. It was a nice aroma, something it always was really, and Neta took a sip. A wash of flavor cascaded into her mouth and suddenly she was more at peace than she was. This, in all its delicacies, was home. She didn't even notice, or pretended not to notice, when Saho pulled her closer as she looked down at the board to discern her next move.
Picking up a delicate hand and clasping a small piece, she said, "Pawn to D3." Sipping from her tea again she inquired, "And what are you doing here, dear Saho? What business do you have to keeping yourself secluded like this, and for so long. It is beautiful..." she relented. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

◢ Location: Lost Village <---> Mood: Sorrowful <---> Thoughts: I figured as much... <---> Audio-Thematic: Take A Step Back ◣ "What use does history have..." ╔═════════════════════════════════════════════════════╗ Saho kept her eyes upon her old friend as she told her of her colleague and her work. Saho chuckled "The pursuit of knowledge never stops." she said sure that the elder would find out whatever it was she wanted she had all the time in the world to learn and Saho was sure that there was little that could stop that pursuit. It was goo to know at least, but of course, Karst was a place Saho figured she'd like for somewhat similar beliefs. She was secure in the knowledge that Netami found her place there.
Saho watched the board for a moment as her friend move one of the small carved pieces. Saho moved in kind "Pawn to E6." she called as she sipped her own tea. Of course, there was the question of what it was she was doing here, alone. Saho took a quick sip of her tea, and a little puff of her pipe and leaned back. She wasn't sure herself, she had only a vague clue. It was unlike the fox to not have complete control over all that she did.
She looked to the side "It is beautiful." she said and chuckled "A wondrous carcass that lies here in the open, so untouched by the changing of the world." she spoke softly "I don't suppose you would know her? That beautiful body?" she chuckled a bit. She looked at the pieces, leaning forward on the table to be eye level with her well-carved pieces "How she sang so beautifully back when I was not a mere relic. How she breathed so clearly in the days before..." she spoke, it was a bit odd her way of speaking of the town. Of course, Flora was normally an odd one, and she loved to speak, almost as though she had no need to breath...perhaps her friend would sense what was wrong as they went.
She touched her queen and began to wave it about before leaving it alone "How her subjects revered her so.." she spoke even quieter "Here the glorious mother rests. Her subjects are no more, her songs all but silent, her light fading away with each passing moment. She would die alone..." she frowned "If the monster responsible for her death did not also guard her corpse."
She blinked and snapped back shaking her head "Ah, yes, sorry, you did not come to listen to my rambling. What new spells have you discovered I am eager to hear of your progress."
