The greatest single collection of knowledge in all the world. The Grand Library of Karts, an incredible building and one that is unrivaled in its field. This library is older than any currently living creature and is the one thing that wasn't rebuilt here. It was moved from the old Karst to its current home. Using many powerful space wizards the current archmage had the library physically moved here. It contains books on almost anything imaginable and all the knowledge is available to those who seek it. The books here come from all kingdoms and anyone is allowed to read the books while in the library though removing books is strictly prohibited with. A seal is placed on each and ever book and tampering with this seal will alert the Archmage and is considered one of the only ways of being banished from this small land. All are welcome and encouraged to learn but those who seek to tamper with the knowledge here will find themselves punished severely.

Magnus the Red The Cursed Mage Disciplines: Space and Mind Where: The Library With: No one
Magnus opened a portal in a dark section of the Library. His cloak from his robes hiding most of his face. Looking around he began to the chant needed for telekinesis, a spell of the mind. Reaching out with a single hand he began to make the books and scrolls he needed come to him. The books began to stack and float before. His eye glowing a faint gold as he began to send books through the portal to his own library. "Any thing helps..." He muttered audible. Scratching his chin a bit as the books slowed down. He didn't want copies of what he already had. Waving his hand he would send a few books at a time. Looking up as he heard the God he struck the deal with. "Silence. What you did to me ruined my reputation." He shook his head, ignoring the voice as he went back to sending books around. Stopping them from time to time so he could read the titles some more.

She was twirling a curl around her finger as she read, accidentally floating as she was lost in thought and the secrets the book held, before her nose twitched as she smelled the ozone tearing in two. It wasn't that she could really smell this, of course, but as the previous master of space magic before moving to the position of the most powerful mage in the college, she knew very well what a portal sounded and smelled like. She cocked her head, still keeping her thumb in the crevice of the book so she would not lose her page, and looked downward.
She was many feet in the air, reading from one of the top shelves, and she laid flat on her belly as she floated there to watch the red mage begin to steal books. Aeryn almost laughed at this, how uncanny it all was, but she kept her composure long enough to read another paragraph of her book. She was the college elder, though she seemed aloof of what was going on before her. Criminal activity was not too bad to the elder, but she also knew it was rather easy to get the books back if she so desired.
Coming to a close of the chapter, she turned the page and looked down again. The mage was still at it. Sighing, she floated down a ways so she would now be half way between the higher shelves and floor. Cocking her head, her beautiful curls falling to her side she called, "You do realize that's forbidden, right?" Waiting a beat, she continued, "And you know that portal causes a tear in space, so it's easy for the space professor to follow you through your jump sight." Aeryn made no move to catch him, and her entire body seemed lazy and relaxed. If anything, she was actually helping the book stealer, even giving him a useful tip for the future. Some elder! ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Magnus the Red The Cursed Mage Disciplines: Space and Mind Where: The Library With: No one
Magnus closed his eye as he heard a voice. As the voice came closer he closed the portal, having plenty of reading material to solve his problem. "They would do me better than just sitting here. Someday I'll place them back, till then I'm checking them out." He turned to look to see a woman, and at first glance she looked younger than him. But who was he to judge her. "May very presence is forbidden. You talking to me could get you in my situation." Extending his hand he tried to open another portal but couldn't. Besides the fact he left the relic at home, he was drained from sustaining the portal and moving so many books at once. His eye glowing a little as he looked her over. Putting his fingers to his forehead as he felt the pain of the curse. "Nnnnn stronger.... need to get out of here." He began to walk but dropped to a knee as the pain grew worse for him. "Get... behind.... something..... solid....." Closing his eye as he felt the curse he had worsen.

"I read them, and the hundreds of mages in the college read them. And even civilians read them, you are just being selfish." Gray orbs watched the portal close, but she still saw an ethereal tear where the portal once was. Shaking her head, she floated onto her back, looking at the man upside down. "I can't get in trouble here, mage. Not even by the archmage. I'm special."
She smirked, almost snorting, as she said her peace. It was true, for the most part. Aeryn was the college elder, a seat on the council of the protection of Karst. She was sure Surtr could try to dethrone her standing, but they were good friends and she had not done anything drastic against the people. Seeing as she hadn't hurt anyone but those that deserved it, it was unlike the archmage to get on her case. Those who thought too highly of a judicial system were pansies and guppies.
Continuing to look at the mage upside down, Aeryn cocked her head, her dangling locks swaying slightly, as she watched him grunt out words. There were no walls in the library, the aisles rushing forever it seemed, and regardless of her own safety, the elder was rather curious to see what would happen. She was sure she remembered this red mage, but she also didn't care to learn names, backstories, or... well, anything about students. Whatever the case, this would show some interest. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Magnus the Red The Cursed Mage Disciplines: Space and Mind Where: The Library With: No one
Magnus could only mumble as an invisible force blasted out of him. The burst was small, causing no real damage. It wasn't as bad as when he first had done it, a thousand years ago. But it hurt none of less and still made him drop to his knees. "A kinetic burst..." Climbing up slowly as he used the last of his magic to draw upon his staff. If attacked he was stuck solely to his staff. "I am Magnus the Red, the exiled Mage." He dropped the hood to show his single, left, eye as the other looked as if it was melted shut. "Seeking knowledge I made a deal and got screwed." He began to move slowly towards the day, leaning mostly on his staff. He didn't want to explain it further but he figured it out, if he didn't cause enough chaos then the God creates the burst which makes him lose his power, if he creates enough Chaos however he is left alone. But being bad wasn't something he was and so the bursts. "I need those books to see if I can remove it." He looked down a little and gave a small swear under his breath. "No... I will be rid of you." He quickly blinked as he came to notice something, to her he might be crazy, and crazy would not help his research.

She flipped over, laying on her belly again, and placed a finger to her cheek. The mages staff was ordinary at best, though it was always interesting to see the physical usages of such a thing from a mage. It was rare seeing as mages simply didn't have the best physical capacity for combat.
As the man spoke, she floated there for a moment, allowing a beat to pass through the large room. She remembered suddenly she had forgotten to pluck her roses in the garden! Oh, right, the man in front of her. Clearing her throat, she tapped her chin before saying, "I remember you. Well, I remember when Surtr told me about you. That's why I say I'm a special case, Surtr and I are rather close. He tells me things others have no palate for. And as this college's Elder, I know everything that happens among these walls." Scratching the side of her face she continued, "You're too young to be in my class when I taught, I wouldn't have been so foolish with you. You actually had some spunk." She watched as he tried to leave, and slowly levitated lower to the ground so she would be in front of him. "Tell me, do you really think you can get rid of this curse? They're not so easily come by, nor easily forgiven." ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Magnus chuckled a little. "Well thank you. But nearing five thousand and with how I was... a lot of teachers wanted me. And yes... spunk or stubbornness." He remembered his trial clearly and Surtr had been more than fair with him. "If I am guilty of anything it is this; the simple pursuit of knowledge. Surtr softened a little I think. Exile over death." When asked about removing his curse he sighed. It was the thousand year old question. "I have to believe. If I don't... then I let this curse define me forever. It's why I've been taking books. Answers are everywhere if you look and dig. If I find the answer then I'll truly be free." He gave her a smile and twirled his staff a little. "Plus it would be nice to have it stop talking to me. So annoying and inconvenient." He was feeling physically better but magically he still felt drained. "But I do believe I remember you. You stood out in the hall during my trial."

"It just gives you more wisdom to fight another day."
She watched as the boy twirled his staff, seeming to be a bit better than before. The mage didn't particularly care about the one in front of her, but she also didn't want him to leave. New cases, especially those of space mages, were of interest to her. He didn't stack a candle to her, especially leaving tears all over the place, but at least he showed some minor interest.
"Seeing as you're throwing back his softness in his face by illegally stepping foot here; by law, I should kill you now." She waited a moment before saying, "You could just kill yourself if you're so scared of this curse." Thinking for a moment, which caused a lot of of eye rolling, Aeryn clicked her fingers. "If you would call it that. It was just Surtr and myself, mostly him telling you to get the hell out. I was simply there as witness, went out into the hall because I was bored." The elder cocked her head. "Having someone to talk to you constantly is looked at as a wonderful thing. Not that I would know..." ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Magnus nodded some more. "Power comes with practice, perfect practice. As to killing myself the thought is always there. Save myself the headache and the drained feeling. But I have wrongs to make right." At the mentioning of her killing him his smile had faded a little. But what was worse was how very right she was. He was abusing the generosity Surtr had so kindly given. "His bedside manner was a tad more refined then yours. But none of the less, what doesn't help me will be returned. And the voice, hearing the God, is not as nice as it seems. As a child we made that one friend up to not be so alone, imagine that but with a psychological disordered being of power. Though it has comedic quirks when it shows itself, mostly trying to hang the paper thing kids hit but it can't because it's short." His grip loosened as he felt completely fine, physically. "But if your urge to kill me is so strong then give it a shot." He looked beside her, seeing the God he had struck the deal with giving him a questioning look.
