┗ Magnemite had stuck through 2 of Jay's pokemon. With only one left to go, Jay brought out his final pokemon he named Arrow. Here we go... "Leafage!" It was there, Magnemite fainted and couldn't continue. Dante called back his pokemon before giving some encouraging words. Usually trainers would leave their strongest last as the final test. It was that very test, Dante was going to take full force. "Here we go! Litleo! Standby for battle!" Tossing out his poke ball, releasing his Litleo, the very first pokemon Dante has caught and the closest he has in their bond. It was tight. Dante had to finish this now. Or else it could be more trouble than he would expect. "Litleo! Use Work Up and follow it up with Fire Spin!" Litleo gave out a small roar as he pepped up his confidence, making his physical and special attacks stronger than before. Preparing to launch his Fire Spin attack he got caught with being hit from Confuse Ray which ended up hurting himself. Teetering back and forth he forced out another which hit Arrow pretty hard. Though instead of going down right at the attack, Arrow forced a strong tackle that pushed Litleo back a bit. Only for them to stare down at each other before a ring of fire reappeared and entrapped Arrow, causing him to faint. The battle was over and Litleo prevailed! "Heh, good job Litleo, you brought him down." Litleo jumped up and down, joyed at the fact he won. ┓

⤷XXXXXJay put up a hard battle with Arrow, but in the end, Dante's Litleo overpowered the Grass/Flying type, knocking him out of the battle. "Come on back, Arrow," he said, recalling his fainted Pokemon. "You deserve a good rest." Placing Arrow's Pokeball back on his waistband, the Grass-type Gym leader walked toward Dante with a smile. "Your Pokemon are well trained, Dante," he said. "It was a miscalculation on my part when I had Parra use Poison Powder and Stun Spore. I'd forgotten that Magnemite couldn't be poisoned or paralyzed, due to its typing."
⤷XXXXX He shook his head at his own mistake, then looked at Dante again. "As proof of your victory here at the Cloudridge Gym, I present you with the Herbal badge and this TM86: Grass Knot," he said, holding both out for the young trainer to take. "Now tell me, did you learn anything from our battle?" He was curious to see what Dante's answer would be.

⤷XXXXX Brian smiled when Dante finally won by knocking out Jay's Rowlet. It seemed the other trainer knew what he was doing when it came to battling, and Brian liked that. It showed that Dante was willing to do anything necessary to become stronger. The female Riolu continued to observe Brian, still debating on whether she would join him or not. For now, she would merely watch, and possibly follow the boy to see where he was going next.

┗ Retuning his pokemon back into his pokeball. He walked forward to the Gym Leader, receiving his first gym badge along with a TM that he stored into his bag. He was asked then if he had learned anything from his gym battle. Dante didn't exactly think about it. Resting his knuckle on his chin having to reflect on his battle. The main thing's he noticed was when it started. He decided to go from there. "Well, when we started you tried to put my Magnemite into a status disadvantage. He was saved because his steel like body. Off that, I acknowledge that not every fight will be as straight forward as you normally would think. So having to understand that and at least have an idea how to deal with it if it ever happens is something I learned." Answering Jay's question with his theory. Hopefully it was acceptable enough for the Gym Leader. Dante, in all honesty didn't think he would have to learn something besides simply winning the battle. ┓

Not many trainers would realize that not every fight would be completely straight-forward, though Dante knew that. "That was a very interesting answer, Dante," he said, smiling. "I can see that you'll go far on your journey. Just remember, your Pokemon are as much your team as they are your partners." He paused for a moment, then spoke again.
⤷XXXXX"Brian, I hope you don't mind waiting a bit for your battle," he said. "My team needs some rest after the battle with Dante, and I'm sure you're both hungry. Would the two of you like to stay for a meal? It's my treat after a hard battle like that one."

When Jay said he hoped Brian didn't mind waiting a while for his battle, since Jay's Pokemon needed some care after the battle with Dante, then asked if he and Dante would like to stay for a meal, Brian nodded. "Aye, that'd be nice," he said, smiling. "Besides the battle, that was the main reason I came here. I'd heard the food here is like none other, and I wanted to try it out. Dante, are ye gonna stay and eat, or head to the next town?"

┗ Dante crossed his arms as he thought about it for a bit. "I'll stay, I don't see anything wrong with seeing your battle against him, just as you have for me." Dante stated before walking over to the side. This will also give Dante a leg up in seeing how Brian battles with his pokemon, just in case if they ever come facing each other instead of being beside each other. Brian had already got a glimpse of Dante's battle style, so it would be alright for Dante to level the playing field. ┓

"Alright, let's get you guys something to eat, and we'll have our battle, Brian," he said. This said, he led the way to the restaurant, then turned and looked at Brian and Dante. "Feel free to order whatever you like, alright?" he said, then headed for the kitchen to await the orders from the two young trainers. When the two of them were done eating, Jay led the way back to the battlefield, then turned to face Brian. "I hope you're ready for this, Brian, because I'm not going to go easy!" he called, holding a Pokeball behind his back.

⤷XXXXX After the agreement to stay for a meal then onto Brian's turn against the gym leader. After seeing Dante battle and get his gym badge, it was Brian's turn. Stepping up to the battlefield with his poke ball in the hand. "Aye! I'm ready whenever you are, let's get to the fight!"

⤷XXXXXJay nodded when Brian spoke, then looked at the ref and nodded. "This will be a 4-on-4 battle between Jay, the Gym leader, and Brian, the challenger," the ref said. "The battle will be over when all of one side's Pokemon are unable to battle. Furthermore, only the challenger will be allowed to substitute Pokemon. Are you both ready? Then let the battle begin!" Jay threw his Pokeball to reveal his first Pokemon. "Let's do this, Parra!" he said, as his Paras materialized in a flash of white light. The Bug/Grass type shouted her name as she stood ready for battle.
