As she spoke of him not liking his position he nodded and winked to her. His gesturing saying "you're damn right". He hated his job, this was the absolute worst thing that could have happened to the man. Though he unfortunately had the crown thrust upon him and with none to claim it from him he was forced to uphold it himself. "We can go to the palace if you like. I'm sure they'd want me there anyway. Most things don't pile up they just want the king to sit on his throne and grow fat. Something I have little interest in doing." As she mentioned putting on a disguise the man chuckled with a warm smile. "Tried that, didn't work. The bastards saw right through." He said finishing his fish while also not touching the head.
He would take the head and throw it up into the air above, as it came down the little ball of fire perched atop his own suddenly burst out brighter and bigger and its mouth opening wide to snatch up the fish head gobbling it up. It seemed brighter now as if happier that it had gotten a bite to eat. Surtr listened to Lunaris telling of her king he smiled softly at her admiration enjoying that fact that she was so loyal and so willing to support her king. "I have met the man in passing a few times though never when I was king. He aligns with what you just said." He uttered corroborating her tale. She spoke of being tired about being treated as a child and Surtr laughed rather heartily. "There will almost always be someone older than you. Even a bag of bones like me has met people thousands of years older than me. So I doubt you will ever escape people treating you like a child. I wouldn't let those words bother you.... I'd just focus on allowing your actions to prove them all wrong." He said with a smirk, perhaps implying that was his method for dealing with such things.
She seemed worried about him traveling alone and Surtr nodded. "Well I'm never alone, I have this little one to protect me. Though yes this is how I'll be visiting the other kingdoms." He spoke allowing a cheerful smile to bubble up and take over. As she mentioned the dish and what it represented Surtr chuckled. "Precisely. Exactly why I want the cooperation of the kingdoms. What can be done together is far superior to what can be done apart." He said softly extending the comment about the fish to all the kingdoms.
"Seems like you spend quite a lot of time with the royal family. You're not going to try to become a royal guard are you? I happen to be quite close to an elf on the royal guard." Surtr said with a soft smile, remembering the last encounter he had with the woman. Quite an adventure. As she mentioned her height Surtr nodded in agreement. "That's true you're almost as tall as me. Though that's certainly not a bad thing. Long elegant woman like yourself is like to have many a man swoon as you walk by." He said rising as he dusted any lingering sand from his pants before slipping from his shoes to walk barefoot along the sand beach. He rolled up his pants and then began to walk slowly along the tree line collecting pieces of wood as Luna had instructed. His eyes seemed to be scanning and absorbing everything memorizing the features, sounds, smells, and feelings of this area mentally noting all of it.

It used to feel like a fairy tale Now it seems we were just pretending We'd fix our world Then on our way to a happy ending
She smirked when he winked at her as he confirmed that he didn't like to be king by the expression he made. Just wanting him to sit on the throne. "Heh, If we could trade places, I would take that responsibility off your hands" she said jokingly but she was slightly truthful about that. It was mainly because of her fascination with royalty and fairy tales. Though Vergaelus would remind her that life isn't like that, but one can still dream. She laughed a bit when he mentioned that he tried the disguise but didn't work. She could imagine him pretending to be some old geezer walking around the palace trying not to be notice until he is caught by one of his royal guards.
She was surprised when he threw the remains of the fish into the air only to realize he was feeding the flame on his head. Was that an actual creature or his own power of fire? Luna wanted to give her fishy remains to it too so it wasn't wasted, though no food is truly wasted as life was everywhere, even where you can't see. Hearing him comment about her age, and telling her that words shouldn't bother her, she nodded. She always wanted to prove people wrong. There's a lot she could bring to the table if given the chance. She shook her head a bit when Surtr told her he was never alone because of the little flame on his head. But could that flame really protect him if a group of people surrounded Surtr? It just seemed like an unnecessary risk to her.
Lunari looked at the flame on top of Surtr's head and smiled, "What's it's name? Is it some type of sprite? Fire Sprite?" she asked as she had never seen it before. She wiggled the remains of the fish to it if it wanted it or not. It's possible it wasn't even alive and just acted like some type of conjuration thrall but it seemed like it had a personality too it. Surtr nailed it on the button when he mentioned how fond she was to royalty of Sylvenor. She very much wanted to be a royal guard. "Ah yes, it my dream. Someone like that. I wanted to have stories like the Grand Sage and just help out my kingdom. He knows this and has asked me to join the militia which I am considering. My mom is totally against the whole idea though. She already lost a daughter in the military..." she said and sighed. "But, it is my dream to become a royal guard but I know it's not going to happen over night. But I'm working hard in my training believe me. And when I am ready, I'll join. I just don't want to join and be some common soldier you know. I want to shine. Again, fairy tales... Maybe that's another reason people treat me so young because of these fairy tale outcomes." she chuckled a bit which shifted into a sigh.
Her eyes went to Surtr when he said that they were almost the same height, Luna taking a step closer to compare if he was really taller than her, which he was a tad bit. She smiled when he mentioned that she was a long elegant woman and would pull attention. "Thank you, though I'm far from acting 'elegant'. Plus most elves tend to not look for their significant other too often. Not that I am looking for a relationship with anyone... It's just, there are so many of us that are just as beautiful... Now I sound like I'm full of myself " she laughed a bit. "Maybe in a hundred year or two, someone may ask me. I'm not in a rush." she explained before following him over to the treeline, taking out a dagger as she walked over to one of the trees. "I like to make arrows out of these trees. They are light yet hard to break and they do well traveling through water." she told him and she started to carve into the trees.

As she offered Surtr chuckled before glancing back to her. "Don't tempt me Luna I'll take you up on that offer." He said wagging a finger playfully in her direction. He had been scouring Karst for a replacement and for the life of him couldn't find one. Though perhaps he was just looking in the wrong kingdom. For now he would brush such thoughts from his mind. He couldn't bring himself to give her such an arduous task. She was so young and had so much more to live for why would she wish to throw it all away just to sit on a throne? He naivety and innocence were shining now and Surtr found it rather cute.
As she inquired about the little light Surtr reached up and scooped it from his head now holding it with two hands, cupping the little light as if it was his most prized possession. "This is Saga, she took over 3000 years to create. She's not a sprite and she is alive.... She's fare more complex than a sprite... It's actually a bit of forbidden magic..." He said glancing back and forth between moving in a bit closer to her. "Though keep that part a secret..." He whispered before sending a playful wink her way. As he spoke about Saga the little orb of fire seemed to burn brighter as if proud by the words that were said. When Luna waved the bit of fish in front of it, its eyes followed it intently and a little fiery tongue slipped from its mouth as if begging Luna to give the fish to it.
"I was a royal guard for around a millennium, I actually served along one of your royal guards a couple of times. She is my closest friend actually...." Surtr said with a soft smile obviously quite enjoying the memories that came to mind when he mentioned it. "While listening to ones parents is important you should always follow your dreams.... Doing anything less and you may as well not be living..." Surtr said before rubbing the back of his neck with a free hand. "Not that its my business of course." He said with a light hearted chuckled before placing Saga on his left shoulder. "I'm sure if you continue to train you will rise through the militia and achieve whatever you wish" He assured intently while flicking his wrists back. As he did two boulders each roughly the size of Surtr floated out through the tree line. One contained a very evident vein of copper and the other seemed ordinary. "I believe there is gold in that one." He said with a bright smile as the two boulders dropped into the sand with a muffled thud.
As she stepped closer to him to inspect their height he eyed her closely. "What beautiful eyes.." He whispered playfully as she began to dispute his claims. "Well I believe you undervalue yourself. Such a bright spark is hard to come by." Surtr said with a playful smirk as he watched her cut away at the bark. "Very true there is certainly no rush. An old man like myself still has yet to find a significant other..." He said moving over and bending down to look at some flowers, noting that they matched the description Luna spoke of earlier Surtr picked them a rather exuberant smile across his lips while doing so. It seemed this little outing was quite enjoyable for the king.
A rather devious smile crossed his lips as a mischievous idea came to his mind. "Well if you want a crown so bad why not just marry me and become queen?" He inquired in a teasing tone while casting her a playful gaze to see what she would do at his words. He was getting to know her in his own way, figuring out just who she was by poking and prodding her. This little elf have piqued his interests and he would see just how intriguing she was.

It used to feel like a fairy tale Now it seems we were just pretending We'd fix our world Then on our way to a happy ending
She laughed when he told her not to tempt him. To run a kingdom had to be stressful because the figure heads seem to avoid them. She'd probably do the same but of course that just her jealousy talking. Someone is going to tell her to be careful. Try it of for a week and see how it goes. Plus in reality, how many people might cause an uproar in the change of power, and not knowing the needs of the foreign kingdom. It was fun to think about at least, but no way she was serious... Maybe not now. With a smile she tossed the remains of the fish to Saga. "Three thousand years of forbidden magic? That is a long time. Really long." she said to him.
Lunari listen to Surtr, who once was a royal guard, when made her passion to gain the title of royal guard more brighter. Wondering what royal guards he had met. Obviously a woman. "Androk?" she guessed. In all honestly, She had avoided the woman growing up. She use to be afraid her the war goddess. How intimating she was. Though it was encourage to know that Surtr was root for her to get better with her training and achieve her goals and dreams..
Fishing craving the wood chucks off the tree, she heard Surtr mention gold in one of the boulders he lifted magically. Once he set them down, Lunari eyed the two boulders. "Gold?" she repeated after him before walking over to them and placed her hand on the rock and closed her eye. She then placed her hands on the other. "Ah, I see. Can you sense the gold too?" she smiled before putting her knife to the boulder and the dagger would start to gain a blue like aura before it started to change the blade's shape to that of a pickaxe. It was small for a pickaxe, but it should be able to hand the task, her cracking into the rock slowly.
She looked at him when during the time he said she had beautiful eyes. Was he just a natural flirt or what. She smiled lightly as she listened to him saying not to undervalue herself. Again, she wasn't in a rush for a relationship but what surprised her that Surtr never hand a significant other. "No way." she said to him in disbelief. "You mean to tell me that all this time, you never found the one? Is there a reason why? Or do you like flirting and breaking hearts." she chuckled but nearly dropped her pickaxe when he asked her to marry him. Yes, she knew he was teasing her but, the words alone surprised her and exactly made her blush, which she looked away from him so he didn't see.
"You're funny. See, there you go, breaking girls hearts again." she told him before positioning the pickaxe in her hand to pick out the ores from the rock. "Me queen. Hilarious." she told him, trying to regain her normal color of her face, trying to stop the burning. "There are many girls in your kingdom who are lining up for the chance of being your queen.." Recollecting herself gradually. "Plus, Saga would get jealous. You two seem to have history."

Surtr chuckled when she seemed surprised at how long he spent. "Yes well the payout was well worth the reward I do believe." He said picking a few more flowers. "It is easy to learn magic but to create new magic that takes time. Fortunately for us if we play the game smart we have all the time in the world." Surtr said softly before looking back to Luna. It was funny how her age showed it wasn't in the ways he would have expected that was for sure.
She mentioned a name and Surtr rose looking to her. "The very same. Quite fond of that one I am. Here rigidity pairs well with my flexibility." Surtr said with a soft chuckle his mind wondering to times spent with the unflinching elf. She truly was a unique creature. Surtr had never met someone like her and he doubted he would ever meet someone with the devotion Androk had.
As she questioned his ability to sense it Surtr would nod in affirmation. "Correct. When I use telepathy, each material responds slightly different, the pull it requires to draw it up allows me to sense it in a way. Though it took quite some time to gain the level of sensitivity I have." He said softly giving a rather brief summary of how he was able to sense it. It wasn't an exact science but for tasks like this it certainly sufficed. He would watch as she would mold her knife into a pickaxe a rather splendid trick that caused Surtr to softly clap praising the young elfs talent.
When she seemed to refute his claim he chuckled as he turned to her. "Flirting is quite fond, the conquest of pursuing a woman is arguably the most fun a man could have. Though when the journey nears its climax and both parties are well aware of the others true persona..... I'm afraid I've yet to find a woman who enjoys me for me." Surtr said with a rather playful smile as if his millennia of failure were something to joke about. "I did give my heart to a woman once, but that unfortunately resulted in being tortured for roughly 1000 years." He said with a very playful chuckle kneeling down to pick some more flowers. It was a bit odd for him to so openly discuss these things but Surtr didn't really have much to hide when it came to these matters.
When he asked her to marry him and she fumbled the pickaxe Surtr let a most mischievous smile cross his lips. How wonderful her reaction was. "I doubt such a thing could break your heart. You seem to be quite capable." He said denying her claim while simultaneously passing a compliment. The flush across her cheeks caused his eyes to hone in, he would refrain from mentioning it deciding he didn't want to scare her off before she finished her chores. "Yes many women have lined up to be my queen, and I would wager all of them would seek to poison me in my sleep to take the crown for themselves. Quite a desirable bunch." He said letting go of the flowers he had picked and watching as they would float over and lay down next to Luna.
A deer would stride by and stop before looking to Surtr. The king smiled and motioned for the deer to come over and it would. A rather large buck likely looking for a herd to lead. It came to Surtr and the mage king extended his hand for it to smell. After a few sniffs Surtr began to let the creature running his hands through its fur and removing any tangles or stray insects that lay upon it. "Saga cannot be jealous of me.... though she does get jealous." He smirked glancing to Luna is words were cryptic and this was intended. He couldn't go around telling her all his secrets could he?
"So Luna, you said you wished for pelts does this creature fit your bill?" Surtr inquired looking to her questioningly. He was comforting the creature and it seemed like somehow Surtr had a connection to it. He would run his fingers behind the bucks ear scratching and watching as it would push its head in that direction Surtr obviously getting a spot that needed attention. It seemed he was ready to slay the animal but awaited her permission first as if she was the arbiter of this creatures life. Perhaps he was testing her wanting to see what she would say or perhaps he didn't wish to kill the creature. Either was a possibility but neither would be discernible. His golden eyes watched her waiting as the buck stood ignorantly next to its potential executioner.

It used to feel like a fairy tale Now it seems we were just pretending We'd fix our world Then on our way to a happy ending
"The ability to read the mind of a stone. Seems very handy." she joked a bit on his power. He was sure vast in his magical prowess, so much experience with all the years he had been alive. And still, he wants to continue to learn. The brain is a very wonderful and mystical thing to be able to hold onto so much knowledge. She smiled a bit when he started to clap from her little enchantment. It was a pretty simple one too. "Yeah, I could augment the iron to shape it or repair, but one day I'll perfect the enchantment to turn iron into steel without the use of a forge. Still a few kinks I have to work through, but I'm getting there. I based my study off of enchantments. I just added onto it. It's quite difficult... " she explained to him before picking out the copper ores with the axe.
Luna frowned but had a puzzled look on her face when he mentioned he was tortured for thousand years, though he laughed about it like he was kidding. It was hard to tell with him. He had to be kidding, because any man would have went insane. Unless it was a metaphor, then okay. "Well, women can be pretty ruthless at times." she joked a but, before chipping the or from the rock as it rolled to the floor, continuing with the pickaxe to get more. As for a heartbreak, she tilted her head side to side. "Maybe, I just never had my heart in a position to be broken yet. So you never know." she told him and picked up the ores from the ground, placing them into her satchel after examining them. "I also can't imagine all of the would want to kill you. You might find the one if you actually tried looking. You know, Saint Takari is single too. It might be a very good thing for the alliance if you two actually wedded. It would be a strong bond. Have you met already?" she asked him, shifting the attention of the conversation away from herself.
Surtr also mentioned that Saga couldn't get jealous of him, but did get jealous. It was quite confusing... "Is that.. a riddle?" she asked him before chuckling, looking at a deer approaching them, Surtr was beckoning it to come closer. As he scratched it's ears, he asked her if they should take its pelt. She looked at him before looking at the deer. Her eyes then drifted away. "Yeah, that would fit the bill." She told him. The ways she felt at that moment made her question if she was a hypocrite. She has killed animals before, but it was always from a distance. "People pay well for the pelts, and people also pay for venison too. I try not to waste anything I hunt. " she told him. maybe it made her sad because if he kills the deer, it was be surprised. Then again thats what a sniper does. It is want a hunter does. Still, killing it this way didn't sit well with her, yet the result her way is the same.

Surtr laughed at her jest quite enjoying the sense of humor she had. "I suppose I never thought of it that way but now that you mention that it makes quite a bit of sense." He said with a small chuckle contemplating her notion further it was a rather interesting idea. Something he didn't quite think about. When she spoke of her enchantments he nodded softly enjoying the way she described things. "Hmmmm, alchemy eh? That's a rather rare ability form. You should certainly nurse that." Surtr said softly looking to Luna rather intrigued by the power. It certainly wasn't something the mages could do, at least not without potions. So for her to have such power must have been unique to her elven blood. Surtr would love the opportunity to study her, in order to gain more insight but he would restrain from asking such a question. After all she did just shoot him perhaps she would feel obligated to which was not what Surtr wished.
Surtr chuckled at her words. "Very true, and men can ignorantly fall into their trap." Surtr said remembering how much of a fool he was. He would guess she thought he was kidding though unfortunately for Surtr what he said was no joke. He had been tortured for around 1000 years abused by the woman he loved. It was arguably the reason why he never loved again. "Mmmmm, most Mages are a lot like moths, they are helplessly drawn to a flame. They want power above all else and will do anything to get it. By killing me, they would attain access to all the power they could take. I would be hard pressed to find a woman in karst that wanted to marry me and didn't want my throne." Surtr said with a chuckle, the idea that loving Surtr and not wanting power were mutually exclusive was a rather humorous though to him. When she seemed to tease him about not looking he merely rolled his eyes continuing to comfort the deer deciding he would just ignore that one.
She then did something unexpected suggesting her own princess as one who should marry. Surtr brought his hand over his lips to cover his mouth attempting to keep from laughing at the idea. "I don't believe the Grand Sage would like such an idea, In addition I would wager if he was going for an arranged marriage he would like to save her for a kingdom that didn't have a good relationship with his own. I have no reason to cut our ties, I have actually come to be sure they are still tight. I think it would be a wasteful move, in addition I'm sure Saint Takari would much prefer to be with someone closer to her own age." Surtr said with a playful smile mocking himself. Although he looked young he was no spring chicken, he doubted the girl would wish to be his and even if she did there were better moves to make. Surtr would hate to take away such a strong weapon from the sages arsenal.
She asked if it was a riddle and Surtr seemed tilt his head back in forth. "I suppose.... Can't have you knowing all my secrets so easily." He said before casting her a playful wink. He continued to scratch the deers fur getting various itches and such satisfied and the buck seemed to be in a more chipper mood. As Lunari confirmed she wished it to die Surtr nodded softly. He looked to the deer merely staring into its eye. He watched as it proceeded to kneel and then lay on its side. Surtr followed in suit moving with it and as he did positioning himself in such a way so that its head came to rest in his lap. Its antlers just on the other side their hulking nature making it a bit more cumbersome than normal.
Surtr ran his left hand over the animal head rubbing along the bone structure while his right moved down its neck to its heart. The animal was breathing slower now, as if it was about to fall asleep. It wasn't struggling nor was it scared it seemed completely at peace. Surtr took in a deep breathe and exhaled slowly as his hands began to glow white. The animal took in one last breathe and exhaled it slowly in unison with Surtr, though when the glow of Surtrs hands faded so did the life in the deer. It went limp, its eyes closing it passing on into the next life. Surtr slipped his legs out from under its head and stood looking to Lunari. "Done.... I also try not to waste anything. Seems like the only way I can respect the life I just took." He said looking to her waiting. He had hunted with others before and some claimed he was a cheater for doing that. Though Surtr couldn't care less he killed the animal without it feeling pain, as far as he was concerned it was the best way to hunt.

Now that the King of Cinders explained why he wouldn't marry Takari, it made sense. If the alliance with the mages were strong, then it would be foolish to marry to strengthen it. Marrying into a kingdom that they were at odds with would have been the better choice. Though she had to disagree about the age. "I don't think one would mind after living as long as she has. Age doesn't matter... At least once we hit adulthood, it doesn't. Like myself, I my not have been on this planet long but I can still see no problems in marrying my significant other even if he is thousands upon thousands of years old. As long as I'm not treated like some child..." she told him.
Lunari watched him careful as he dealt with the deer, and was quite surprise how peaceful it went. It made her somewhat frown how much pain she put them in before she slain them, still, it was survival of the fittest and a wolf wouldn't think twice if the deer was in pain or not. The thought was cruel but she just kept telling herself it was survival. The venison can go a long way. "You just keep surprising me. The experience you have with magic, it's vast." she told him and smiled before standing up straight and walking over to the trees, walking passed them to retrieve a cart that she had pulled here prior to fishing. She brought the cart over to Surtr and added her gatherings to it.
After a few more minutes to almost an hour, the cart was already passed the point that would her norm. It went faster with Surtr helping her. "I think this should suffice. It's more than enough and I can't thank you enough. I'm already in your debt for shooting you." she said with a smile. Before grabbing on to the cart, she looked around to make sure she had everything. "If its not too much trouble, would you like to head back with me? It's fine if you have other business"

Surtr watched the life leave the creature and as it did he slowly removed his hand before whispering something that Luna wouldn't have been able to hear. She spoke of age being just a number and Surtr chuckled as her turned to her. "I suppose, though I still doubt the princess would waste time on an old bag like me. I'm not even suited to be king. Just had the crown set atop my head before I could argue." Surtr said with a soft chuckle kidding but at the same time being honest with himself. He really didn't want this accursed role but someone came along and forced his hand so he was unfortunately to remain upon the throne until he could find someone to relieve him.
She compliment him and he gently shook his head signaling that he disagreed. "On the contrary, the more I learn the more I realize just how little I know." He said with a smirk. It was true when he mastered his first discipline he felt empowered and all knowing when he mastered his second he felt accomplish but eager for more. By the time he mastered his 4th discipline he knew he would never come close to learning everything. What seemed like a pond had become an ocean by the time he managed to dunk himself within its waters. He could spend another 5000 years learning and he still wouldn't even come close.
She once again mentioned how she was in debt and if he would accompany her. The king nodded before walking over next to her preparing to set off together. "Please stop fretting over something in the past.....I will happily accompany you so long as you don't mind me observing." He said with a playful smile implying that he could continue to study and learn of her culture as they went.

Luna rubbed the little plaque build up from her eye with her finger as she shook her head. "You seem pretty capable as a King. You are being too modest." she said to him as she grabbed the ends of the cart and slowly started turning it from where she came. It would be quite the walk, but at least she wouldn't have to do it alone today. Her life was pretty simple in comparison to Surtr, of course. He had a kingdom to run where she only had to care for a store. She always wanted to be more than that, not just some store clerk. her father use to tell her stories of his adventures, how he met royal figure heads, even Surtr too, the main reason she really knew about him. It had to be a few decades ago. It was saddening that she couldn't spend more time with her father. He life was rather short compared to other races. Hell, in a few more decades, she would have reached her father's age and still be considered young. The world just kept moving, no matter how important a person was in your life leaves it.
The half elf started to move, pulling the cart slightly lost in thought but was still listening at the same time, her brain multitasking the topics in her head. Hearing that this King didn't know a big fraction of the knowledge able to obtain in this world, she still knew his was vast in comparison to hers. It made her think what she would know in the years to come. What would she be a hundred years from now? Five hundred years from now? "I just would like to have made a difference in the world... Even if it isn't much. Just don't wanna be another grain of sand on the beach."
Now entering into the forest, a few bumps the the cart had to deal with as they went over rocks and roots of trees. By the time they would get back to the town it would be in the afternoon, evening approaching. It felt like she was at a stand still in her life, reliving this same trek over and over, but today was definitely different, having bumping into Surtr of all places. It typically isn't a place you would meet royalty. Was she just being lucky to have met him? Or maybe it was destiny. A sign? She really didn't know what to make of this encounter. It could just be just that. Lunari just couldn't help but yearn for her life to get more interesting. As they walked, Lunari talked to him about the town, her business, the foods there. Just simple things as the made there journey.
