As the clouds roll over the kingdom of Light, there are still luminescent items to ease the worried people. Out on this seemingly dull day, the castle grounds are bustling with both men and women walking about their afternoon. A few with the capability of flight take to the skies in a rush to their errands. As their wings emit a faint glow it almost seems like there are fireflies in the sky, One firefly in particular was doing nothing but weaving in and out of the halls. Through every opening and over and under some pillars. Though the weather did not share in her enthusiasm, this one light in the sky had slipped away from duties in the castle to take in fresh air.
Dazzling wings carrying the weight of the young royal as she soared. It was no rare occasion to see this one out in the skies. For she loved the air that passed through her hair and the sound of the wind. But most of all, she loved to feel the warm sunlight on her skin. No doubt, the angel was disappointed to see that the gods were bickering this afternoon. The goddess casting her shadows to irritate Ray and to an extent, the people. Nevertheless, this was her time. The time where there was no thinking required. Looking down at the ground, the angel waved and smiled to those whom she saw and recognized. Young Meryll would not stray to far from the castle grounds for she had work waiting when she returned. Hopefully she'd be able to find someone who could rob her time for a little while longer.
It was after some hours that Noel was riding back to the castle. He had been gone for quite a while, probably missing an hour or two of his usual classes already but he never felt like being restricted to those anyway. It wasn't like he would really do much with them anyway. His main job would be to support his sister the Queen. With a silent sigh, Noel stretched, just letting the horse lead itself in the meanwhile before he leaned his head back and opened his eyes again, casting icy blue orbs to the skies. This weather was so weird. He wasn't really used to their kingdom being cloudy and in truth he didn't feel well because of it. Due to the way he trained himself, light was a heavy booster for his energy and strength.
So for the kingdom to be overcast, caused him to feel lack of energy. Something in the sky was what caught his eye however once he gazed up and a gentle smile played around his lips. It would seem he wasn't the only one that had decided to play hooky. The prince chuckled seeing his sister fly like that and he stood up in the saddle of his steed. They were close enough to the castle for the animal to find his way back on his own. Noel leaned down, petting the horse on his neck. "Go ahead and go home. I'll follow later." he said before he straightened himself, stepping from the horse on the bridge he had been passing and then he just dropped himself down.
Once between the bridge and the water enough he immediately unfolded his wings and turned diving straight down for a few before leveling with the water and then propel himself upward with strong beats of his wings till he was a little above his sister. Noel grinned before he folded his wings a bit and started to dive down fast to catch momentum and catch up. With a lack of the sun, his shadow wouldn't give him away either. Once he was on short distance enough to be heard once he would call out, Noel chuckled. "Your Highness, you are supposed to be inside!" he called out, trying hard to mimic the voice of one of their older guards.
Of course Noel didn't know if his sister would fall for it, but it was to good an opportunity to let slide and he had to try while she was flying like she had not a care in the world. It had been to long since he was able to tease his sister now she was always busy with the kingdom and all. He did still remember their time before Meryll actually took over the throne and became to busy for her brother.

Gliding for a little while longer, the young royal was starting to noticbly feel tired. With the sun's ray's hidden behind the clouds, the brilliant sunbathing Meryll hoped to achieve was for naught. A light sigh escaped her lips as she began to fold her wings in tightly to decrease her fast past flying then rapidly flapping her feathers in and out so that she may hover. The flowers entangled in her hair soon began to fall one petal at a time. A sort of symbol that her energy would soon run out should this weather continue to be so dark. Once again a sigh escaped her lips. Just then, she shook her head back and forth, her delicate fingers lightly tapping her checks. I musnt think like this. I need to think positively. Gathering her composure once again, Meryll put on a smile and an air of positivity.
Just as she was about ready for another few laps around the castle a familiar sound hit her ears. The distinct sound of beating wings. Yet this specific rhythm was painfully familiar. Before the young queen could turn to see who she suspected it could be, a scolding voice rang in the air. This time, a genuine, heartwarming smile emerged. Lacing her fingers together, Meryll feigned innocence and regret. Continuing to face the opposite direction, the young female spoke. Oh my. Seems I've been caught. My apologies, finishing a load of work, my actions naturally brought me to the outside. Seeing as I was desperately awaiting my dear younger brother to pay me a visit, when he never came, I just had to distract myself. Accentuating a few words, Meryll was having much fun with her act. It was only after she finished wording her last phrase did she quickly took a nose dive. Making a quick flip backwards and skipping another flight up, the queen then ended up right behind her brother. Seeing as she was slightly faster than he was, his back was wide open. She then took this opportunity to wrap her arms around to his front in a warm embrace. A giggle erupting from her chest. It is nice to see you Noel.
It didn't take long after his call before his sister reacted to it in kind. Hearing her words, Noel tsk'd and chuckled as he folded his arms and shook his head. His sister sure knew how to be over dramatic, but it was part of her charm as well as her humor. Before he could react however she dived and disappeared from his view. Noel sighed a bit, before he smiled. Surely soon after he was hugged from behind and he just smiled. Meryll and him were both extraordinary fliers, yet Meryll had still 3 years ahead of him.
The young man chuckled before he reached behind him and ruffled up her hair a bit. "Good to see you again too Meryll. As for not visiting I have tried numerous times just to be told I can't interrupt you in the middle of business. So I have tried to stay busy till I got the chance again." he explained before he left her embrace and turned around so they could look at each other giving her a smile. "You should tell that bull of a guard outside the doors to at least let me through a few times." he said and chuckled. "How have you been, sister? Not working to hard I hope?" he then asked, half serious, half joking as a response to her earlier feigned innocence.

Grumbling ever so subtly at her brother's gesture of messing her hair up even more, the young queen silently forgave him seeing as this was their first encounter in quit sometime. Releasing her grip from his person, Meryll went on to smooth her hair and retraced the now dissembled flowers from her hair. Believe you me, the advisors insist on keeping me from dusk till dawn. Seems my ascension has brought doubt to those accustomed to power.
With an elegant but not very royal appropriate grumble, Meryll crossed her arms in frustration. Although the girl has trained for this position since the death of her father, it seems many see her as just an inexperienced damsel with tremendous power and responsibility. The advisors seeing to it that she is well educated. I shall speak with the guard men. Although it is advised for me to keep focus, a visit from you is no distraction. Releasing a giggle, Meryll stretched her limbs a bit and evaluated her mood from the past few days. Her wings beating steadily as her body glided through the sky in a light hover. I've been as well as you may expect of a maiden hidden from the sun. I had hoped to rejuvenate my mood with the day's light. However, it seems our god is having trouble with it's siblings.
Looking up to the grim looking skies, the young queen furrowed her brow ever so slightly. However, she vowed to keep her bright and cheery attitude no matter the situation. Least in front of company.
The prince chuckled when his sister grumbled as she let go and rearranged her accessories. He knew she wouldn't be displeased for long anyway. As she spoke while doing so he listened and sighed a bit. "They sure succeed in that: Keeping you away from people. Don't they know citizens will be more likely to follow a ruler they can actually see around the kingdom?" he replied at her information. He may not be the most attentive when being taught, but he learned that much. The people were more keep to follow a Queen they can see than one that hides herself away from her own people.
As they spoke he kept a steady beat with his wings, just hovering like this didn't take much energy, but it could definitely be felt that the day was so overcast. Noel smiled and nodded when Meryll said she would talk to the guard men. "They should let me through regardless. I am still above them. But they won't budge. I have to say it makes it difficult to believe in their good will. But that may just be me, I guess." he said as he followed her gaze to the sky. The clouds really were thick for being above the Kingdom of Light.
"Well, I hope at least the weather gods will be willing to give us clear skies soon again. It would make it all seem less dreary as well. Now it's more the Kingdom of Sobriety." Noel sighed as he finished those words. It was true such days were rare, but he still never liked to have the sky as such. But there wasn't anything they themselves could do about it. "How long do you have to be free and about Meryll?" he then asked looking back at her and smiled.

Thinking through to give her brother a proper answer, Meryll was please to assume that her short time of leisure could possibly last longer than even she hoped for. Seeing as I was diligent in my work, I made sure to complete a large portion before coming outside. I'm certain the advisors could not deny me the privilege with the that out of the way. However to answer your question properly, I'm not entirely sure. I shan't return until I have my days fill.
With slight mischievous smile, Meryll flew around Noel a few times to express her happiness. Though times were busy and tiring the young queen disliked to express her stress and weariness. It was best to smile and take things in a positive light. Least this was her philosophy. As she circled the silver haired male, Meryll caught a glimpse of a store a little way off through her white feathers. It was a very nostalgic feeling seeing the building for it was a place she visited often as a child. A small cafe, close enough to the castle that she could spot from the air but far enough that it was out of boundary of the castles perimeters. Having the images of the past in her head, the woman began to feel the urge for it's delicacies. Stopping herself from moving towards the object of her desire, she decided to distract herself with more small talk. Enough about me. How have you been brother? Traveling around the kingdom I'm sure.
Noel chuckled at what Meryll said and watched her fly circles. Of course he could fly and ride a lot more cause he didn't have to rule a kingdom, he fully understood her reaction as such. "Then they'll have to face two royals if they want to drag you back into that dreary castle. There is no immediate danger, you should get some time off!" he agreed and nodded. When she stared further out and stopped flying circles, Noel followed her gaze and noticed what it was directed at and he smiled.
"I have been out and about but never far away. Well then dearest sister, where do you want to go before they see us here. If we are quick we can sneak time out of the castle grounds, like old times. Just name where you want to go and I will join you." he offered her. If she wanted to do something specific it was best to get away from here as fast as they could, so they could go out and have some fun. Noel could go outside when he wished, he couldn't bare think of how his sister must feel stuck inside all the time.

The suggestion from Noel surprised Meryll a bit. At first the woman thought her brother was forgetting the situation she was just describing earlier but soon dismissed it seeing where the conversation was heading. Seems she can't keep anything from his watchful eyes.Thank you Noel however it is unorthodox for a queen to roam the streets with no obligations.
With simple smile Meryll turned down the over that was given. As the ruler of the kingdom the luxuries were all provided for her. Her days of youthful scampering were over. She needed to think about how her appearance would effect her surroundings. Although her heart wish to continue with her carefree nature, her mind knew it was something irresponsible. Meryll was very grateful that her brother though about her needs and wanted to comfort her, but the young queen alone must decide what was best.
Thinking of an alternative, the woman kept her mood up and brought another suggestion. Why not do me the privilege and accompany me to tea and sweets in the garden We can converse to our hearts content there .
When his sister declined his invitation to go to that place she loved so much, Noel was a little disappointed, but he could see why Meryll would pick not to go to the city. Even as the Prince it was unheard of that he went to the city, especially without guards, yet this was often the case as the angel didn't allow others to strap him down. Not even their royal guard. One would think a royal would not feel like they needed to get out of the castle, but they couldn't be more wrong. Noel saw it in Meryll as well. Always stuck inside those walls.
After hearing her proposal, the prince nodded and gave her a smile then. "As you wish Meryll. I can understand it would be a little odd to show up in the city without something important as the Queen." he replied and chuckled a bit. "Still you should be allowed to leave that place now and then. Always the same area day in and day out is bad for your health as well." Noel shared his concern for his sister.
Prince Noel nodded and gave a kiss on his sister's cheek before he grinned. "I'll race ya!" he said and without waiting for a reply he took off with fast beats of his wings before he caught the first wind and then just allowed it to carry him while picking up speed as he made way to the garden. It wasn't the ideal place to enjoy some time off, but he knew well it was the best alternative they had to going to the city together.

Giggling at the makes blunt but understanding response. It was moments like these that Meryll was truly grateful that some aspects hadn't changed. In the beginning it was quite awkward for the angel. Although it was a given that her younger sibling listen to what she had to say because of family order but it was more superior than anything. Now it was more obligatory. What the queen orders he would have no option but to obey. Quite different. Though that realization just made things push in the direction of wanting to act normal. So that's just what they did. Feeling a happy warmth in her chest as Noel gave her a kiss of resentment, the moment soon turn into that of childish surprise as he spoke words of challenge. Watching the other zoom past her, a gasp erupted through her lips. Then an array of giggles.Oh now he's done it. Meryll mumbled under breath and turned her body in his direction. Stretching her wings wide while tucking in her body, the young queen then pushed against the sky and propelled herself forward. Her wings at an angle to allow a smooth momentum forward. Once she felt herself slow down, the angel once again opened her wings and began riding the first wind she could grab hold of. Quickly coming up behind her sibling and slowly gaining speed as the distance to the gardens decreased.
While he flew as fast as he could toward the gardens, Noel did not look behind him. He knew full well that his sister was not far behind. Nonetheless he would do his best to win this race, that was only the brotherly thing to do. The angel chuckled considering those thoughts and gave a few more beats with his wings before he folded his wings close to his body and turned downward so the momentum of his flight was now increased as he propelled himself down towards the lower level. Of course he kept a close eye on the ground that he was speeding towards, not planning to end this race in a disaster.
Near the castle gates he could already see some guards at the opening and he grinned awaiting the perfect moment. Close enough he unfolded his wings just a tad to allow his body to even with the floor as he rushed right between the guards with a quick "Passing through!" without even bothering to stop right towards the gardens they were going for. The castle was large enough cause of the angels ruling it, so he unfolded his wings a bit further so he wouldn't hit the floor, pushing himself up into the air, outside again through a port, beating his wings once he had enough room.
Noel was no fool though, he wasn't going to celebrate victory just yet. He wasn't in the gardens yet and that was the finish of this little race between siblings and he had lost sight of Meryll when he blast passed the guards at the entrance to the castle. Even if he would lose now though, the look on the guards' faces when their Prince passed by as he did were double worth it. The angel had not yet lost his mischievous streak, despite his usual demeanor. Sometimes he just wanted to go loose and just deal with the possible consequences later.
