There was a loud noise. Somebody splashing into the mountain pond. One of the pale eyebrows lifted, the haka continued forward until he reached the water's edge. A gehaka, floating in the water. A pretty one, but that didn't mean anything most times. The pretty ones coudl be rather... dumb.
His ice like stare was tuned to the gehaka floating around. What exactly, did he think he was doing? Filthy germs in the water now, it would take a couple of weeks before it would be cleaned out. He set his pale shoulders straight and spoke up.
"You know I wouldn't be swimming around in the middle of the day. Don't you have work something to do?"
Gehaka being unproductive annoyed him. They had jobs they needed to do. Farm work, cleaning stores... something. So why wasn't this one at work, working for his husband or his mother? Shameful really.

Jiro leapt up to his feet in the water and turned toward the voice, his grey eyes curious and a bit frightened. His eyes fell on the icy blue, pale Haka that stood at the water's edge. His voice rang out very clearly, his words very precise. This was a high-class Haka, Jiro could tell by the look on his face.
Bowing and smirking, the Gehaka replied, "I believe this is the best time of day to swim. I get up early in the morning to work until the afternoon, take a break in the afternoon, then work again late into the night because it's unhealthy to work when it's so hot..." Standing straight again, he opened his wings, which bore the recessive birthmarks of the royal family from which his family had come long ago. No others in his family had the markings, and all of them were Gehaka so his mother treated him, the middle brother, as if he were a Haka. The bright green markings sparkled elegantly in the sun, glowing slightly gold against his tanned skin.
"... so, by your leave, if you've no other business with me..." he dove back into the water, some of it splashing up and onto the beautiful Haka's costume.

Shinrei was beyond angry. Truly, a beautiful gehaka...if you liked that sort of thing. The markings all over his wings were different... interesting even, but really. His clothes were wet, that was what pissed him off. His pale lips swept into a sneer, one hand holding the wet cloth away from his body.
And yes, maybe resting in the middle of the day when it was hot was best. Walking around didn't tire Shinrei, who had never needed to lift a finger his entire life. The heat did nothing but add to his anger. An ice storm was blazing from his eyes.
"No, no business with a flashy good for nothing who should be beaten."
He held out his pale hand, and one of the two gehaka following him handed a fan over. Carved cherry blossoms in the wood, the fan was white with light blue clouds. All to match of course. A single flick of the pale wrist and the fan came open, only to beat a slow air at Shinrei's well defined face. The gehaka swimming should be beaten for such...displays. His own gehaka was flashy with his words, but truly...when it came down to it, what Shinrei said was law. And that was how it was to be.
"We're resting."
The angry haka stepped slightly away, to sit on a rock with his chin held high. Ice like eyes glared every once in awhile to the unknown gehaka. If he could just find out who he belonged to... that might help ease his anger. Gehaka could, and often would be beaten for upsetting other haka. Yes, that just might work.
