Bruce Wayne

What happened to Gotham City? Many years ago it was among the many places that marked a turning point in technological advances and most if not all Gothamites had Thomas and Martha Wayne to thank at that point in Gotham's historical history. Wayne Enterprises and all of it's subdivisions were devoted to help Gotham City produce more positive outcomes and goods to help their once great city strive for success. While they were responsible for some of the good within Gotham City, they were also responsible for a majority of what was wrong with the city.

Years later, old secrets revealed themselves to the public that would further tarnish the Wayne name. Their actions, most notably Thomas Wayne's, paved the way for complete and utter corruption within the system. From their deaths to adulthood, Bruce Wayne witnessed and learned the true nature of his beloved parents. The respect faded, replaced by a drive to be different. To be something else entirely and to do good by the name Wayne family name. To do this, Bruce had to leave Gotham behind to one day free it from the grip of crime and despair. He spent years honing his skills both physically and mentally but even that wasn't enough.

Several years later after becoming Batman, nothing has truly changed. If anything, the vigilante's presence in the city has only brought on more daring criminals and organizations that threaten innocence by day and by night. Allies near and far have joined the fight though most don't see it through the eyes of Bruce Wayne. The struggle, the determination, the willpower to keep going against all odds to save Gotham from the problems that plague it so. In the dead of night within the cave, Bruce's thoughts were scrambled across the screen that illuminated the darkness around him. Images were scattered about of a recent crime scene that both Batman and Robin investigated. Something just wasn't right, prompting Bruce to look over the evidence once more.

"Hm.." He groaned, his hands clasped together along the desk. Bruce's eyes squinted, darting by each image as he analyzed it further. As far as he knew, the GCPD were searching for the wrong man, but he didn't have all the pieces to steer them all in the right direction. Clearly this would take some time to process. Tapping his finger along a single key on the keyboard, a microphone symbol appeared across the screen. "Damian. See me in the cave." He said sternly into his son's communicator.

Damian Wayne

Gotham city glowed under billions of invisible stars, the metropolitan area pulsing with life. It really did look its best at night, like a beacon for the lost and the faint-hearted. Damian wrinkled his nose at his own romanticism. If anyone ever asked Damian what he thought of Gotham as a whole, he’d likely roll his eyes and say that clearly, Gotham city was the scummiest, dirtiest place in the entirety of existence. But that wasn’t necessarily true. Plenty of cities were filled with evil. Filled with unspeakable horrors that take place behind closed doors, plastering happy veneers on themselves as if to say "everything is just fine! We swear we’re not hiding all kinds of death and destruction!"

But Gotham? Gotham didn’t hide anything. Even Metropolis couldn’t boast something as honest as that.

"Damian. See me in the cave."

Father's deep, bass voice echoed throughout Damian's ear as he gave out instructions. One might even mistake some of his words for growls, his frustration practically rolling off his tongue. As usual, Damian listened intently. Because Father's word was law. It was luck for the most part that just as Father's message came in so was Damian from his rare one man patrol.

He thought maybe Father would be calling him to berate him for something he might've done wrong while out alone. But when he fully entered the cave and got off of his cycle to see the breaking news headline on the bat-computer's monitor, he knew exactly why he was called back so abruptly.

"I take it you called me here because we're going after the clown." Damian asked, arching a brow behind his green domino.

Jason had been back in town for about two weeks now just laying low. He was curious to see how Gotham had changed since he'd been gone, and of course, not much changed. There were still the same old villains running around, causing a mess, because Batman didn't know how to do his damn job. Despite wanting to get back to his work immediately after arriving in town red Hood decided to wait for a while. He'd put the costume and the guns down for a bit, just to see how Batman and his new Robin did things. Then there was the Diamond Massacre.

Jason was in a bar fight when the whole thing was going down. Some drunk guys were forcing themselves upon a young girl who obviously had used a fake ID to get in. Disgusted by the sight Jason immediately stepped in. He pushed back the stool he was sitting and and walked right up to the largest guy with his bottle in hand. "Hey buddy." he said before the guy turned around and gave him a dirty look. "What?" He said in an annoyed tone right before Jason took his bottle and smashed it over the guy's head. As he fell to the ground the other two guys who were also ganging up on the girl came after him. Jason smiled, glad tone experiencing some action after weeks of doing nothing.

The second biggest guy came out him swinging fists but Jason was able to dodge each punch like it was nothing. The smallest guy, realizing that he wasn't big enough to take Jason down alone, grabbed a bar stool and tried to hit him with it from behind. In the last second though Jason pulled the dude who was shining at him behind him, and basically used him as a human meat shield. As a result the bar stool hit the second guy, taking him down. With only the third guy left, trembling in fear, Jason's smile grew wider. "Oh, me and you are gonna have a good time together." He said just as the third guy ran out the door. Even though Jason could have just let him run off that wasn't satisfying to him, so he followed him. When he caught up to the guy he grabbed him and threw him into some metal trash cans in an alleyway. "P-Please! I'm sorry! I won't bother that girl again!" "Idiot!" Jason yelled as he kicked the guy right in his face. "It's not just about that girl! Scum like you will always go after another pretty helpless thing. It's sad really that you aren't confident enough to just ask someone out. Instead you have to try to r@pe someone to get laid. You worthless piece of sh*t." With every word Jason threw another punch, or kick at the man. Beating him to a bloody, barely recognizable mess.

Once the man was unconscious, and his face looked as bumpy and red as a raspberry, he walked away. Honestly Jason wasn't sure if the guy was alive, nor did he care. He was sipping the blood off of his hands and onto his ripped jeans when he noticed a bunch of people crowding by the window of some Best Buy. Curious, Jason pushed his way through the group and saw on one of the TVs a report on the Diamond Massacre. According to the report there were some weird, fairytale like creatures attacking the park in the Diamond District, and of course the Joker showed up to make matters worse. "There is the clown. I've been waiting to meet you again. So the last place he was at was the park and he kidnapped some girl? I mean he has taken hostages before but this time it was only that one girl? In a halloween costume? No, something ain't right here. But when are things ever right in this god forsaken city?" Jason thought as he forced his way out of the crowd and walked back to the hotel room he was renting for the time being. Once he got back he figured it was time to pay the old man a visit, and offer his assistance once. Even if Batman refused him though, Jason would continue to haunt down the Joker on his own.

And all that led to Jason putting on the costume he hadn't touched since arriving and making his way to the Batcave. Having once spent a lot of time in the Batcave Jason knew how to break in easily enough, and so after hacking into the system Jason was able to enter. Once in he slipped around in the shadows, making sure to stay as quiet as possible. Peaking out of a corner he saw Bruce sitting his his chair by the computer with a kid in front of him. Smirking under his helmet Jason stepped out of the dark and made his presence known. "So this is the newest Robin huh? careful kid, you'll probably be gone or dead within a few short years. This guy can't seem to hold on to a sidekick for very long."

"...We have company."

Damian told his father upon hearing the intruder 'sneak in'. He rolled his eyes at the attempt. He along with father (probably) had long heard him enter and the young Robin didn't care for people who needed special entrances to compensate for their shortcomings. On the other hand this was expected from Todd as Damian knew who he was having done research on all of his father's previous partners.

It just so happened that the most incompetent Robin had been in their presence presumably because he too had just seen the news. Which came off as no surprise considering the case involved the very criminal responsible for beating Todd to a near inch of his life with a crowbar before leaving him for dead. Pathetic. Damian thought quietly to himself. Never would he have allowed himself to be put in such a poor situation. But Todd was careless, brash, and most importantly of all stupid. And with those qualities, was prime pickings for Joker.

"Well now, isn’t that a great idea?" he said, sneering and dripping with sarcasm. "Advice from the most radically useless vigilante ever. If you're done now you can see yourself out."

Bruce Wayne
The young Damian was right in assuming that Gotham's current predicament was the issue of utmost importance at the moment, so much that Bruce had to unfortunately suspend his work on the case he had been reviewing. The Joker was no laughing matter and now he was involving children in his chaotic ventures? Even worse, she appeared to be even deadlier than the Clown Prince of Crime himself. Bruce's history with the metahuman population was extensive and made him all the more cautious, if that was even possible. These powers that they possessed could do very destructive things, as evident by this mess in his city. He'd shake his head with grimace, turning the chair to face Damian. He said nothing to his son as he made his way to the work benched, adorned with work in progress projects and finished gadgets. Projectiles like batarangs, firearm like weaponry such as the Bat-Claw, an EMP gun, and smaller forms of weaponry such as gas pellets. Some were more suitable than others in this situation but useful nonetheless.

"He won't stop until Gotham has finally burned to the ground." He finally let out, practically gritting through his teeth. It was understatement to say he was angry. He was infuriated by the fact that The Joker had slipped through the system time and time again only to wreak havoc as if it were the very next day after he was detained back in Arkham Asylum. Being Batman came with many rules but the most important message that he wanted to get across was that it was a decision to risky to make. For most, once you went down that path, it was near impossible to come back from. He wouldn't take that chance, he couldn't. He just didn't know if he was strong enough. "Gather what you can, only the essentials. We need to be ready for anyth-," His orders were cut off prematurely by an all too familiar voice, one he was no longer eager to hear much of these days.

Standing before them in the flesh was Jason Todd: the second person to take on the mantle of Robin. What felt like a lifetime ago, Jason was one of Joker's many victims after he was beaten a half an inch to his life, tortured, and was fatally impacted in an explosion which resulted in the death of his mother as well. Through mysterious means, ways in which Bruce thought it better to not disclose, Jason Todd was brought back to life and came back to Gotham with a vengeance, killing criminals left and right. The two were on the opposite sides of the crusade. To kill or not to kill, the age old battle between them. While he wasn't against working with him, he would do everything in his power to keep him from taking lives, today included.

Robin's brash words were the first to break the silence within he cave. While Bruce would usually reprimand him for speaking in such a way, he wasn't entirely against it. If anything he said what was on his mind, in a much less harsh way if one could believe. "How many times have we been over this, Jason?" Bruce stepped forward, approaching his former protege. He threw his cowl over his head, staring back down at Jason with nothing but bright, squinted white eyes. "This isn't what we or what Gotham City needs or wants right now. This thing between you and I? It can wait because while we sit here and do this old dance, people are losing their lives." He turned away from him, nudging his head towards the platform in which the Batmobile sat upon to cue Robin to follow. "Either help us or get the hell out of my cave." Jason was tough, there was no doubt about that and he knew deep down that Bruce being harsh with his words would do little to effect him. What he hoped though was that he could see past their differences to see and strive for the greater good. Bruce was truly sorry for what happened but he was focused on the here and now and that meant addressing the problem at hand.

Jason's yes darted towards the young kid who now held his old mantle as the child spoke out against him. It somewhat amused Jason to see such a small boy talk so big, not that he doubted the boy's skills. Anyone who went through Bruce's training had to come out tough, if not Bruce wouldn't keep them around.

"I can see the resemblance between you two. All talk, very little bite. Honestly kid if you can't even take d**k down you shouldn't be acting like such a big shot." Jason had heard about d**k's first encounter with the boy. He was about to kill some low life criminal when d**k stepped in and stopped him, something Jason himself had experienced once((Took this from the Son of Batman movie)). d**k mentioned how the kid put up a good fight, but in the end his cockiness is what led to d**k restraining him.

You know, it was kind of strange how d**k and Jason stayed in contact. After Jason left the city he didn't contact anyone from his old family for months but then d**k reached out to him, still wanting ti help him it seemed. While the two constantly fought they could have a decent conversation now and then. d**k mostly started talking to Jason when Damian came around because he'd go on and on about how the boy's attitude reminded him of how Jason was, and in many aspects, still is. After hearing so much about the kid of course Jason himself would become interested.

Then Bruce's loud voice broke the intensity between Jason and Damian. He was pissed, as usual. Jason figured his presence wouldn't provoke a happy family reunion but he knew it was better to let Bruce know he was hear before he started getting to work. last time he came into the city and started killing off people Bruce hunted him down, and at this point Jason didn't want that. So he decided to come to Bruce first.

Jason listened to Bruce and couldn't help but to laugh when he commanded him to either help or get out. "Is that your way of asking for help? You are as cold as ever Bruce." He commented as he walked up to the huge computer in the Batcave and looked at the screen. The image of Alice was zoomed in on and Jason couldn't help but to investigate. before Bruce could argue with him further Jason quickly typed in the word Alice and found that Bruce had files on this girl already. As he went through Bruce's information, without even asking, Jason said "Always assuming the worst from me. Guess you just always expect me to cause trouble since I am your greatest failure right?" Those words to this day still linger in Jason's mind. How Bruce, the man who was practically his father, called him a huge failure. All he had ever done was work hard to be the best Robin he could, but it was never enough for the all powerful batman.

"Despite what you think I'm not here to start sh*t with you. At least not today. Maybe over the weekend we can get together and beat the cr@p out of each other like the good ol' days. But for now I am well aware of the situation, are you? Where the hell was Batman when the city needed him!? You're such a goddamn hypocrite you know? Letting all those people die today, you are practically a killer yourself so don't you dare sit there and judge me!" Jason yelled before openly going through the files on Bruce's computer. He typed in the word "Alice" since that's what the girl was called on the news, and immediately a few files of her popped up. "Looks like you are familiar with this girl. I knew she couldn't be just a random nobody that the Joker picked up. he doesn't target just any random person. There's always a reason with him... And according to the information you seem to have she is a metahuman who is possibly even more unstable than the Joker. You knew this and yet you let her just wander around? Jeez some hero." Jason said as he sat down in Bruce's chair and kicked his legs up as if the cave was his own home. Well at one point it was, but he knew damn well that those days were long gone. "Tell you what, I'll help you out. I've been meaning to pay the clown a little visit. It's been a while." He said as he took out a switch blade and started twirling it carefully between his fingers, making sure not to cut himself in the process. "Besides, it's clear that you aren't capable of managing this city on your own anymore."

Damian's face contorted into a fierce scowl, and he felt anger burn inside of him. How dare Todd bring up that fluke of a fight to help his argument. Grayson had only just caught him off guard, that's it. There was nothing more to it. In fact what he should be bringing up is how Damian single handily kicked Drake's a** here in this very cave. And the thirteen year old would've reminded him of this only he didn't get the chance to because father started speaking. To which Damian would smile happily as Todd proceeded to be chewed out verbally. It was like watching a chess match between the two and Damian already knew who the victor would be as Todd made his move.

Despite what you think I'm not here to start sh*t with you. At least not today. Maybe over the weekend we can get together and beat the cr@p out of each other like the good ol' days. But for now I am well aware of the situation, are you? Where the hell was Batman when the city needed him!? You're such a goddamn hypocrite you know? Letting all those people die today, you are practically a killer yourself so don't you dare sit there and judge me!"

Robin growled in frustration at Todd's incorrect comment. Where had they been? Protecting the city like always unlike him. It wasn't their fault the clown slipped out of custody as usual. After they delivered criminals to Gordon and company their jobs were done. The rest was up to GCPD who time and time again failed at the simplest tasks in keeping said criminals in Arkham. It was sad really. Damian said nothing though as he was eager to hear how Batman would up the ante in this war of words with the 'Red Hood'. Surely this was the point in conversation where Batman would squish the lesser vigilante like a bug.

Bruce Wayne

Stopping dead in his tracks, Batman did not shift around entirely, merely moving his head a bit to look back at Jason. Defiant as ever. He was no longer in charge of him but the least he could do was cooperate without the need for opposition. He listened to his words very carefully, resting a hand on Damian's shoulder in case he was ready to lash out at the insult projected at him. Damian wasn't one to take his losses lightly but they didn't need a full blown confrontation down here, not right now. Instead of turning away from him, Batman stepped forward towards Jason to appropriately hear him out. The bitter sting of what happened to him so long ago was still there, loud and proud as always. He honestly thought they had buried this some time ago but the wound was still fresh and Jason made it ever so evident.

Jason's jabs at Batman's ethics, ideology, and crusade meant little to him. He had his own methods, his own way of handling things. He didn't need anyone else to justify those means for him or question how he conducted his business. Batman couldn't help but admire his skills on the computer, most of the files on there were encrypted for a reason, the passwords changed long after he had departed. Perhaps he'd have to go back and up security on a later date. "To do the things that we do, to go where we go, we have to break the rules and do what the GCPD won't. That doesn't mean we are absolute law." He folded his arms over his chest, the bottom of the bat-symbol upon his chest was slightly hidden by his forearms. "What that girl needs is help." He'd say plainly before walking up to the computer. With a few taps along the keyboard, one of the files open zoomed in on a few details, specifically her background and origin.

"They all need help. Within Two-Face, deep down there is still Harvey Dent. Mr. Freeze is still Victor, blinded by his goal of curing his wife. Poison Ivy is still Pamela Isley. They've all had their breaking point, for some they see it as the point of no return. Their crimes will never no unpunished, no, but we're not the executioners. That's not what we do here." That would be as far as he'd go, for now. He'd step back down from the platform and towards the Batmobile once more. "The Diamond Distrct." He said finally after a few moments of silence while nodding to Jason for confirmation. The Batmobile had enough seats but he assumed he'd prefer meeting them at their specific destination.

Jason could tel that Damian wanted to either do or say something. Even while where his helmet Jason had pretty good sight range in it and saw Damian's tightened expression. He decided against paying any attention to the brat and instead looked to bruce as he began talking. "We aren't absolute law huh? Then who is? The cops!? Ha! Your old pal Gordon and his little buddies shouldn't even be allowed to carry a weapon. The cops in this town are dumber than you are arrogant." Jason soon with a brief chuckle before Bruce approached the computer and started opening up even more files.

At the sight of the information Jason sat up straight and leaned in closer to the screen. He looked up at the huge words in front of him and quickly read through them as Bruce went on. He read about how the girl was apparently abused, how her sister was sold off and killed, and how she became an experiment after going through an insane asylum. "Jeez, this kid had it rough. Unfortunately that doesn't excuse her from having these dangerous temper tantrums that cost people their lives. But fine, since you are so bent on trying to 'help her' then be my guest. My main focus is the clown freak anyway. But out of curiosity Bruce, how many villains have actually turned over a new leaf thanks to your idea of 'help' hm? Don't worry I can wait."

With thatJason stood up out of the chair and placed the switch blade he was carrying back in it's holder. He was honestly a bit surprised to see how the old Bat was with letting him tag along on this mission. But who was he to question it? He got what he wanted, a way to the Joker, so Bruce's personal reason behind letting Jason tag along weren't important at the moment. "You know, as much as I miss the Batmobile, I have my own ride now. I'll just trail you." Jason said as he pulled a set of keys out of his pocket and pressed a button. Immediately you could hear the roar of an engine in the distance and the sound of squealing tires, and within seconds Jason's motorcycle appeared and was automatically driving itself towards Jason. It charged at him like a bull, without stopping, and with a small grin Jason flipped over the vehicle when it got close enough to him and landed directly on the seat. The moment he landed on the seat he hit the breaks, stopping the motorcycle and putting it back into his own command. "I've made some adjustments to her lately. She's running as good as ever." He said proudly as if he was talking about a prized show dog. Honestly Jason loved is bike, and mechanics in general. It brought him back to his start. One of his earliest memories was watching some stranger work on a car, and it was that scene which made him think to start stealing car parts for money before Batman took him away from a life of poverty. But even now, even altering having been away from that life for years, Jason still found himself somewhat drawn to mechanics. Something about toying around with machines was just fun to him.
