Being the son of a well-known mage, Allister had great expectations placed on him. His father, who was a war general, died shortly after his younger sister's 5th birthday, during an attack he had led. Allister had spent his entire life trying to live up to his parents expectations, but magical capabilities never manifested. Because of this, his mother was ashamed to admit he was her son- knowing very well that he would be shunned. Allister never let his insecurities show, however. He dedicated his life to studying and eventually became something of a genius. He lives and works at the Thalassian Royal Library, where he sometimes helps to devise battle tactics with Prince Tamlen. He befriended the Prince during one of his many trips to the library.

Allister, like Tamlen, seems to have difficulties showing emotion. But this is only with facial expression. He tends to "talk with his hands". Relying more on body language then facial expression. This is likely due to not spending much time around others during his youth. Despite this, Allister is very kind and compassionate towards others. He may seem scary at first, but those who know him have quickly learned that he has a warm heart.
He carries a sword that was left behind by his late father. To him, it is a memento, so he has never drawn it. He has been trained in how to use the katana, but prefers not to fight at all for moral reasons. But don't be fooled by his pacifist beliefs, he still knows how to put someone in their place. Weather it's with words, or in a fair fight, Allister has never lost when it came to defending someone's honer. He also has a strong will and can be quite stubborn when it comes to his opinions. Every time he brings up an opposing thought, he has prepared notes to defend every word. And he wont back down until he's won the dispute.
Allister has very few friends aside from his sister and Prince Tamlen. But what allies he has, he defends. He has a quick wit and a sharp tongue that he will never hesitate to use. And it's not until he has no options left- when he an't talk his way out of a situation- that he would resort to using force. But just because he rarely fights, doesn't mean he's unpracticed. He trains daily to maintain his sword skills, in case the need should ever come.
And yet, at his basic core, he is kind. He is one of few Thalassians that treat others with a genuine kindness that is not at all faked. He is even gentle towards his mother despite the way she treats him. This is because his father taught him to always be patient with others. He was told that when people treat him differently because he can't use magic, it was because they were never taught respect for one another. So Allister looks beyond people's faces and the masks they wear, and instead sees them for who they really are. This perceptiveness of his has surprised, and even shocked many people. To the point in which they forgot of his lack of magic, and became impressed at his intelligence. After finally being seen as a worthy citizen, his mother found it within herself to be proud of her eldest child.

Allister has no desire for a physical attraction towards someone. He instead seeks an partner that can be his most trusted friend. So when it comes to romance, he couldn't possibly care what his lover may look like.
His younger sister has a habit of tying bows into his hair. She says they make him look pretty. He usually leaves them in, as he likes to spend the time with her. It also keeps his hair out of his face.
