"I just hope you can come up with a good reason for the new, snazzy wallet if your family notices it." Misha shared a smile of pure mischief with him. "It's a little flashy." The pun slipped out accidentally. Her light eyes widened and she gave into more giggles, burying them against his chest.

The pun went right over his head. Yes, it was a bit flashy.
"I wouldn't have to lie. 'My best friend got me this.' I mean, if I said 'girl-friend' maybe I'd be in trouble," he smiled and rubbed Misha's back. People didn't usually buy him presents, so receiving one was rather special, and it was a rather nice gift at that.

"Mmmaybe." The warmth that spread through her at his designation of best friend made her feel silly, perhaps even a bit strange. She could not remember the last time someone voluntarily claimed her as a best friend; it was even longer since a guy had said it. She was not quite sure what emotion other than flattered wound through her brain because it was Brian saying it. Misha lifted her head, banished the concern, and grinned. "But that would get me invited to the homestead to meet your mom and dad and sisters and that could be fun."

"Well you could, if you really wanted," Brian said with a little shrug. He had introduced them to anyone in quite a long time, but he'd bet his sisters would get a kick out of Misha if they could all get together. The only risk there was "Bri-an and Mee-sha sitting in a tree" and so on and so forth. It would be a more mature sort of insistence, but it would be there, though if Misha could handle his sisters pestering and giggling it would certainly be proof of their friendship. Allie was about Misha's age as it was.

"I'll remember you said that." Misha drew back from the hug and reached up to touch the cat pendant hanging at her throat. She smirked. "I'll be sure to wear this."

"Wouldn't have offered otherwise," Brian said with a smile, but really he wasn't sure why he had offered at all. Friends had never been introduced to the family unless they came to a party or were simply over for a play date as kids. Maybe he'd just have to invite her to a family gathering, but then what would his family think? Ah, who cared? It wasn't something to worry about now.
"Oh, yes, of course. I'll expect you to, or else I might be sad." He was teasing, of course. There would be no surprise in his manner if he never saw Misha wear it and it ended up dangling off of a bedpost or living in a drawer.

"And I would never, ever, ever want to make you sad." Misha drew her expression into something close to solemn and looked up at him with earnest, big, grey eyes. "What if I never take it off?" she continued and now he could hear a bit of playfulness return to her voice even as her gaze held. "I'll even leave it on n the shower."

'Cats don't like water," Brian said, even if the videos his mother sent him told him otherwise in a viral fashion. He was smirking still. "But anyway, wouldn't that ruin it? I don't know a whole lot about jewelry..." That much was true. Didn't things get scuffed and weak with age and wear?

Misha laughed and delivered another tight hug. Brian was such a gentleman! Not a single comment about her being wet and naked. "I'll be careful with it. Promise."

"Good," Brian said. He wasn't about to go on a tirade about how much it cost, either. Some people were into flashy displays of money. He was not. Besides, the thing had been damn reasonable for an Etsy shop.
