I'm anxiously awaiting new albums from Dimmu Borgir, Judas Priest, King Diamond and Mastodon. Hopefully they pull through.

Yeah, there's a live DVD in the works from the recent Abigail tour. It's currently in the mastering stage, I believe. King Diamond himself has stated that 2017 will be all about making a new album.

I simply hope it's better than his last few albums. He hasn't really released anything good since Abigail II, but that's just my opinion.

I don't really have much of a clue as to what's coming out this year. I know Archivist will have a new album out and am looking immensely forward to that. Hoping Locktender puts out a new one this year. And I just found out that 8°6 Crew put out a new one after 7 years and it could honestly be my ATOY. Going to be blasting this for at least a week straight.

Is there any songs or albums by these artists you'd recommend?

Hmm... for Archivist, I'd probably go with "Hades" off their self-titled. But the album as a whole is a really good example of post-metal/atmo sludge. If you're into it, then check out Morrow, somewhat similar sound, but tracing a very different storyline. Then I'd rec Light Bearer (the common link between all these bands being the vocalist Alex CF). Put out two phenomenal albums, plus an EP and a split.

Locktender's 'Rodin' is a great start for the band. "The Burghers of Calais" is a great track and the last verse is just epic.

And if you're into ska/rocksteady, 8°6 Crew is probably about my favorite band (usually listed as skinhead reggae). 'Bad Bad Reggae' is a solid album, even containing a couple of Oi! tracks.

The Archivist track is pretty good. The lyrics were exceptional. I'm now looking into Locktender.

Amazing lyrics are pretty commonplace with any of the projects Alex CF has been in. Dating back to Fall of Efrafa. I know a few others have had some writing credits, especially with Light Bearer, and they have always been amazing.

Lyrics are also a pretty strong point of Locktender, but they're tackling a difficult subject as a whole. That being sculptures, writers and artists. Cannot wait for the next release (they're going to announce some recording news sometime over the next few days), but as of now, Rodin is still my favorite.
