I've only been able to go up to level 4 so far, and have not encountered a single soldier mouse. All other threads also say the soldier mouse only comes out on the 5th level.

I did a quick forum search again now - I think earlier the soldier mouse kin drop rates were a lot better than they are now. But there are also a number of reports with high soldier mouse kill counts with minimal or no kin drops.
