█ BACKGROUND
Despite the term 'trailer trash' being thrown around a lot, no, Lina was not actually raised in a trailer park.
It was just normal low-income housing units.
Lina was the youngest of three, all vampires, to vampire parents and vampire grandparents and vampire cousins and vampire in-laws and for whatever reason, her parents always tried to insist that this was, somehow, a big deal. Somehow, it was supposed to be important. But Carolina could never wrap her head around why. They all always went on and on about these 'long, proud lineages' when all those 'noble bloodlines' boiled down to was a bunch of listless good-for-nothings lazing around in the trailer parks (okay they lived in a trailer sometimes but not usually, that was her cousins) and complaining about how the system was rigged against them. Woe is the poor bloodsucker, he is so overrun by those damn mages and lycans and humans and elves and fairies while he sadly sucks on his government-funded juice box. Lina never felt pity for any of them. She could always see them for what they were - inbred hicks. Yep, she said it. Her family was all inbred hicks. Her parents were cousins for ********. But whenever she gave her parents lip about it, they hit her. But whenever her parents hit her, her older brother hit them, and whenever he hit them, they hit him, and whenever they hit him, she hit them.... you get the idea. Most of the time the best way to solve problems with her family was to simply ignore them until they went away. So she spent a lot of her childhood alone. When her oldest brother, Bernard, moved out at seventeen, she went with him. Her parents didn't say a word about it.
Lina and Bernard got along the best of anyone in their family, but Bernard was always too patient, too forgiving, too sweet. He was a different person when they fought with their parents, vicious and angry and holding nothing back, and Lina always felt safest when he was like that, so that was how she preferred him. So as she grew into a teenager herself, she developed this odd game of constantly trying to piss her oldest brother off while she was living with him. This habit would drive a wedge between them through the years, until they finally became estranged around the time that Lina turned seventeen. By eighteen, she was completely on her own. she struggled to find adequate work as a teenager, often bouncing from job to job, typically waitressing, but she quickly fell in with distributing blood based drugs. Amongst her multitude of obnoxious cousins, a few had some worthy connections with Blood Nation. So Lina worked for them for a couple of years, and the income afforded her the ability to move into her own apartment. She hadn't entertained dating very much outside of high school, where most of her affairs were brief flings of no real consequence. But during her time distributing for blood nation, Lina soon became increasingly vested in trying to find another way to make money. Because the truth was that she was afraid of the gang, and of the sorts of things they were willing to do. She barked loud enough to make sure people took her seriously, but she was eager for a way out. That was when a simple solution plopped easily into her lap.
Her first beaux was a well-off middle aged snob who she sold to on the regular. He frequently made sleazy comments on her appearance, and sometimes when she was hungry she'd take him up on his offers to buy her dinner. She learned that he got off on being bitten, and after the first time she did it for him he offered her anything she wanted - money, jewelry, her own apartment, all paid for - if she would just stay with him. Hang on his arm. Bite him. Sleep with him. Sit around like a glorified house cat. So she did. After a few months she was able to drop her work for Blood Nation completely, and it was a damn good set up. She realized quick enough that he wasn't the only one willing to provide all that was necessary and more just to have her around, so when he got a little too grabby and a little too clingy, she moved on to the next Joe who wanted some arm candy and was willing to give her what she needed for it.
So that was how life went, for a while. She'd occasionally pick up dealing or waitressing when she was in the in-between, but she tried to make sure that those times were as few and far between as possible. Still, she did have some standards, and she was never willing to play the sweet, demure kitten role that some of the men preferred over her typical, vicious, antagonistic demeanor. So sometimes waitressing was what had to happen. It was in her mid-twenties that she met Odin. At the time he was just a teenager himself, but he clearly had money to spend. He wasn't as able to provide for her as some of her wealthier exes, but he was younger than her (a huge plus; turns out most rich schmoes are old geezers), and he was feisty and fiery and ready to party. And even though they fought like cats and dogs, he didn't ever seem to get tired of the way she'd snap back at him. They fought as much as anything, but they had a comfortable enough partnership. Until the damn werewolf started stealing her s**t, at least. Him spending less and less money on her had been an issue in and of itself without him being a dodgy druggie. And she knew firsthand what blood based drugs could do to people. So, since her bills weren't getting paid anymore, she ditched him. And if she missed him, it was only because she'd gotten comfortable with their stupid routines of fighting and ******** and spending money. And maybe because of her attachment to these routines, she never really strayed too far from the werewolf. He was fun to have around even when he was useless, and when he was gone too long she would miss their stupid fighting.
Shortly after her relationship with Odin ended, she fell in love. He was a ghoul, proud and strong and vicious like her. He had money enough, working with one of the gangs, and with connections to keep her safe from the more frightening aspects of it. They bickered and fought and spent long nights twined up like animals. She'd never been head over heels for someone the way she was for him. Even if he'd lost his money and his power, Lina would have stayed with him, that was how mad she was for the man. But then, of course, the stupid ******** went and got himself arrested. thrown in jail and who the hell knew if, or when he'd ever get out again. OH she was livid at him for it. She swore she'd never get so attached again. Was she going to wait for him? Of course not!! The real world didn't work that way, and with him gone Lina needed someone new to attach herself to. She would remain bitter and resentful of that ghoul and his incarceration for the remainder of her long life.
So after going through a few other men trying to find the right fit, she finally met her ideal candidate; a wealthy old man with a cough. She married him within a few months, and suffered through being married to him for two and a half years before he finally croaked. She was disgruntled to find that, despite her best efforts, he still divided his wealth largely amongst his children from previous marriages. But, he did still leave his young wife a fair chunk of change, and she has been skating by on that for the past few years. But she's not a businesswoman or a banker; she never knew how to handle money properly. But she knew it, at least. So she's still been living cheap, trying to get by on being supported with luxurious gifts from her various boyfriends and sugardaddies for keeping them company. She parties most weekends and avoids her day job whenever possible. But, whenever she is really hard up for cash, she can always call up her cousins to get more work from the Nation, but she doesn't like to if she can help it.
█ ABILITIES
▬ BLOOD ABILITY; HELLHOUND
Carolina has very seldom ever used her blood ability. As such, it is an extremely volatile thing, and very dangerous. One of the biggest reasons she never uses it is because it is incredibly dangerous for her. she only uses it in life-threatening situations. If she has an open wound, Lina can form her blood into a large, frightening familiar in the shape of a large dog of varying shape and size. This familiar can harden and sharpen parts of itself into claws and fangs and will viciously attack any nearby threats. However, this takes an incredibly large amount of blood. As such the hellhound must stay attached to her via the wound (typically the dogs 'tail' will still be connected). If the familiar becomes disconnected, it immediately becomes unstable and begins to fall apart. If it does not reenter Linas body immediately, she will die.
▬ FEEDING CONNECTION; BODY SWAP
Another power that Lena seldom ever uses, because it's strange and dangerous to her health if misused. She can choose to utilize this ability or to keep it tucked away. But Lina is capable of 'swapping' bodies with a person she feeds on for a maximum of twenty four hours. Of course, while she is free to run amock in her victims body as she likes, this does also leave the victims consciousness in her body for this duration. And while Lina can undo the swap at any time, she just doesn't generally feel comfortable enough with anyone else to trust them with her body. Granted, she has used this power once or twice with certain guys just so they could satisfy their own curiosity about what it's like to be the opposite gender.
