People hide behind the bible. Yes, that is right. I repeat what I said. People hide behind the bible. Now I am not discrediting the bible, but when you think about it the bible is one of many things that humanity hides behind. I've seen people hide behind being anti-christian. I've seen people hide by selling themselves out just to fit in with a clique. I've seen people hide by just being deathly afraid of being wrong. So here's my question. Why is everyone so deathly afraid of themselves?

Look what Jeremiah said;
Quote:
The heart of man is desperately wicked and deceitful above all things, who can know it?
And yes, I would rather hide behind the Bible, the truth of God then just be myself, my flesh. I'll hide behind his word every time, because I trust him to preserve his word. My God, the self same God of the Bible would not let man destroy his truth.

People "hide" behind being anti-Christian because of pride.
They sell out to cliques to feel accepted and wanted, a natural human feeling.
People are afraid to be wrong because of pride.

Human nature is to flee from God.
Romans 3:10-12 ESV "as it is written:
'None is righteous, no, not one;
no one understands; no one seeks for God.
All have turned aside; together they have become worthless;
no one does good, not even one."

I'm not talking in typical Sunday school answers like, "Because God loves us," or "Jesus said so."
Is that what you mean by hiding behind the Bible?
I'd rather hide behind God's truth than be stupid enough to step out on the ideas of fallible man.

Are you saying I'm afraid of myself?
Far from it. If I was, I wouldn't be so outspoken about what I believe.
I do not hide behind the Bible. I put my trust and faith in the special revelation called the Holy Bible. It is our "sword of the Spirit" (Eph 6:16).

Which should I trust, the holy, inspired Word of God or the words of a fallible human being?
I pick God, i.e. the Bible.

Hiding behind the bible shuts you out to other truths though. Why not keep an open eye and ear for other truths?

The Bible is the high truth. The very word of God, if you find a truth somewhere else, chances are is that it is in the Bible aready, unless it's a minor truth like, Bush is the president of the United States of America. The small stuff doesn't count, and the Big stuff is all right there in the Bible.

What? The bible is not the owrd of God. It is the word of God as given by man. THe word of God is much more powerful. Plus, look at how many times the book has been rewritten.

There is much more out there than the bible. Everyone has their own views on God.

The bible is the word of God that was breathed into the men that wrote it. it was rewritten because it was originally in Latin and Greek and needed to be changed for different languages and stuff. And to fit what everybody in these days likes to read, the NIV version. I like King James though....

The KJV is taken directly from the manuscripts. The ESV is likewise, but many modern versions are interpretations of the KJV and such. They're copies of the copy to make them more understandable. However, even with the best machine copier, if you copy a copy, it won't be as good.

And the nature of man is open to sin. Funny thing if you think about it. THe bible was edited heavily during the dark ages. Now three things needlessly feared in the dark ages were, homosexuality(lesbians were'net around back then I think), Wizardry, divination. Now, another funny thing. Reading the scripturse whatever book you may prefer to get a better knowledge or understanding of the workings of God, can technically be called divination.
So, if divination is wrong, then by simply reading the bible you are sinning. Now through reading I actually found something in Ezekiel that proved a suspicion of mine. That divination is a really huge sin if you use it to lead away from God and give visions in vain. Basically, lie. Which is in the the ten commandments actually, "Thou shalt not lie"

King James version, Ezekiel

12:24 for there shall be no more any vain visiion(Meaningless visions, made up prophecys) nor flattering divinations (basically just appelaing to people for a quick buck when you can't predict anything) within the house of Isreal

13:3 THus saith the Lord God; Woe unto the foolish prophets that follow their own spirit and have seen nothing!

Now that one sort of speaks for itself right there.

13:6 They have seen vanity and lying divination (people using divination in dishonest ways, vain/false prophecys) saying, The Lord saith: and the lord hath not sent them (So, false prophets so to speak.): and they would have made others to hope that they would confirm the word. (basically take advantage of humanitys sheep like nature)

13:7 Have ye not seen a vain vision, and have ye not spoken a lying divination? Whereas ye say, The Lord saith it; Albeit I have not spoken?
(basically Ezekiel calling the false prophets out on their bullshit)

13:8 Therefore thus saith the Lord God; Because ye have spoken vanity, and seen lies, therefore behold I am against you, saith the Lord God.
(In other words, God really does not like liars)

Now, here is a question for all of you. There are so many different versions of the same book, yet most of you refust to look at other religous text. Funny thing, I used to have a book, which I lost so i'm buying another copy today. "The lost books of the bible and the forgotten books of Eden" Gnostic scriptures are just as true as the ones you read. As for all the different translations of the same book. I am sure that the majority of the retranslators these days translate with the best of heart. But I still do not feel willing to trust them. Moroni 10:4 says it all. If you want to know then as God. On another note, God will not lie to you or give you information that you are not ready to handle. Well, that is all I have to say for now. I hope you all honestly contemplate my post in your hearts.
