Traumatized by the death of his parents, Batman has sworn to rid Gotham from the criminal elements that took his parents from him. He is very paranoid and obsessive, which often makes it difficult for him to trust other people.
██████ ▻ The Bruce Wayne/playboy aspect of his character is a facade. Bruce Wayne is a self-absorbed, superficial, irresponsible playboy and philanthropist.

Most versions of the Batsuit incorporate some form of body armor, and often night-vision, gas filters, and other aids to combat effectiveness or protection. All versions of the outfit incorporate a utility belt containing a variety of crime-fighting equipment.
Cowl: The cowl is depicted as having defense mechanisms such as electric shock or stun gas in order to prevent unauthorized removal. The cowl contains shifting lenses that identifies suspect's identities, as well as their weak points (through medical records), while simultaneously avoiding the possibility of eye identification. The lenses have special visions, like infrared vision (heat sensors), night vision, and ultraviolet vision.

████ BACKSTORY
██████ ▻ Born into a life of luxury, Bruce Wayne was taught by his parents, Thomas and Martha Wayne, to excel in life. They wanted their son to achieve whatever he wanted in life and become just as successful as they were. While he had his fair share of friends from other well known Gothamite families, Bruce often kept to himself as he would remain in solitude, ensuring and solidifying that his education was the most important to please his parents, of course. Science, maths, and a multitude of other basic subjects Bruce had learned were possible through the abundance of time Thomas and Martha allowed for him. So long as he showed progress, they would assist and support appropriately. They were weary of him and how often he liked to venture off and adventure after an incident where he felt into a cave like fixture on the Wayne estate. Bruce described the event as traumatizing, though despite their best efforts, his parents would only sparingly get very few details from him.
Bruce was especially close to their longtime butler Alfred who stood by Bruce every step of the way since birth. The time he had spent with the young Wayne whether it be helping him with his studies when his parents couldn't, or driving him to and from point A to point B greatly strengthened the relationship between the two. In several cases he was lucky to have him. All seemed right and just in the world of Bruce Wayne until one night changed him forever, stripping of him of his innocence and peaceful life.
Thomas, Martha, and Bruce attended a theater show, one Bruce had seen time and time again but nonetheless enjoyed it every time. They departed from the theater with Bruce as happy as ever, leading the three of them down into a dark alleyway as he impersonated the lead character within the show they viewed. Before they could make it the opposite side of the alley, a shrouded figure approached the trio demanding that they hand over any valuables on their person. The mugger demanded the pearls around Martha's necklace, as well as the money and expensive watch that Thomas had previously revealed. Before Bruce could closely follow what happened, there was a struggle, the pearls broke from around Martha's neck and all he could do was watch as they bounced back and forth along the ground followed by two sudden gunshots that pierced both Thomas and Martha. Immediately, Bruce ran to his parents' side, tears rushing down his face. The mugger approached Bruce, the weapon aimed straight for his head with every intent to snuff out the witness. Just as he was about to pull the trigger, voices emerged from both the opposite end and the entrance way of the alley, prompting the mugger to turn and run for an escape.
Bruce Wayne was never the same after that night, plagued with the barbaric memories of his parent's gunned down; and for what? The smallest amount of money they held on their person at the time? The man didn't even get his mother's pearls, not like he would have had the chance to with witnesses and the police practically breathing down his neck as they cornered him from every side.
