-Animals-Eudora:In Idrili (Elven) this name means 'Good Gift' and generally fits the little creature that prances along the forest floor. Believed to be nature spirits, pure and gentle, these little animals have no natural predator amongst their fellow forest animals or even beyond. For some reason no other living beast will harm one of the Eudora, even starving predators pass them by with little interest. Why? Such a small animal would be easy pray wouldn't it? The tallest on record only reaching 2'4ft in height and 25lbs they are a passive and meek species ripe for the taking. And yet.. Nothing but the more corrupted creatures, Humans Dwarfs and Orcs in example, will actively kill them. Elves frown upon it as, favored by the forest as the Eudora are, they believe it is taboo to kill such a pure spirit. To answer 'why' they are so jovial and free one must consider magic. Like many animals in the forest the Eudora adapted to survive, their scarce numbers and naïve natures putting them at risk of extinction. So, absorbing the latent magic of the forest, they gained the ability to cast a charm now called 'Calm' on nearby strangers. Cognitive creatures can resist, if wary, but more base beings succumb to the neutrality and pass by the little animal without question. These animals are native only, it seems, to the forest known as Lavinan.
Rhix:
A rather large beast that thrives in the dense interior of the forest, its main diet consists of moss and sunlight. It is an animal, and as such it will defend itself when it must.. and they are quite territorial so it is unwise to approach them lightly. They provide very delicious meat, and the flowers that bloom upon their skin can be used to mix a rather potent sleeping powder. When angry they can be seen shaking themselves before charging their foes.. Do not let the animal close in such a instance as, having stimulated the pollen of their flowers, they can cloak themselves in sleep-inducing spores that take effect when inhaled. Distanced, swift, attacks are most advised.
Sogre: If this is an animal or sentient creature, no one is sure.. Or even which body the creature's consciousness is even housed in. Always spotted together this duo-species has never responded beyond blind aggression when approached by outsiders. Just as quickly as they strike, the pair vanish into the murky depths of the woods.. The wise do not try to follow. The foolish never return.
Bonsili: A Rabbit-like beast native to many regions, though they do seem to thrive in mass in forests. Known to tunnel for their nests and able to fly short distances with their large years as wings they prove to be rather challenging prey to catch and yet, to the wise hunters familiar with their soft pelts and delicious meat, they are well worth the trouble. A few people keep them as pets, taming the curious little beasts, but far more people consider them 'food' than 'friend'.
-Predators-Igulin: Giant reptiles, not overly fast but very good at camouflaging their skins and sneaking up on prey. Their tongues, and saliva, are dangerously sticky.. They have been known to spit at quick-moving prey to keep it still. Their skins are valued simply because it maintains the 'cloaking' ability even after death.. those wearing the garments simply blending into their surroundings where ever the cloth covers. Their spit is a very helpful adhesive, and their meat is rather tender. Igulin eggs can also serve as a very healthy meal, and considering they lay so many at once it can be very filling as well.
Forest Griffins: Larger than their cousins located in the Plains and far more vicious. Traveling in packs of no more than two or three they move quickly, relying less on stealth and more on sheer ferocity in their attacks. In this dark, wild, place they adapted to mimic the forest's nature perfectly.. Their eyes shifting over time to see heat signatures instead of standard sight and the beasts gaining the ability to use crude poison magic ( elemental roars) to weaken and cripple their foes. The poison is a green gas exhaled by the beasts, and while it is potent it isn't actually lethal.. Serving as a paralyzing agent to keep the prey still. If left unattended the paralysis lasts for a few hours ( 3paralized posts at least ) but if treated with a remedy it can be shaken much sooner ( 1 paralyzed post only ).
Vesper: A uncommon yet vicious breed of Griffin, said to have been corrupted by demonic power eons ago and still known to thrive in the darker corners of the world. Though not 'evil' they are certainly not animals to cross lightly.. A fully grown Vesper's shoulder would stand 9ft tall and it's wingspan would easily dwarf that length. That isn't to mention their talons, fangs, horns, and even their tails which burn with a startling heat. Though few in number and prone to isolated habits the Vesper is a highly intelligent beast and, oddly, a noble one.. They display uncommon loyalty to those rare few able to tame them as mounts and ingenious puzzle solving skills that make them a threat to any unwary foe on their territory.
