Gem Location: Chest
Appearance:

Personality: Ruby is a natural leader, a trait that helped her rise quickly in Pink Diamond's ranks. She's the type of gem that observes first, gathers all the data, then acts. She's under a lot of pressure to be successful and live up to the Diamond Authority's expectations. As a result, Ruby tends to be more introspective and quiet. She knows how to encourage and enforce in equal measure among the Ruby population--she doesn't lead through fear, but through respect. In her off-time, Ruby loosens up a little. She has a dry sense of humor, and she's always willing to put on her gauntlet to spar and blow off some steam.
Alignment: White Diamond, formerly Pink Diamond
Abilities (if applicable): Typical Ruby power; control over fire and heat. She has a few signature moves: she can use blasts of fire to quickly propel herself over the battlefield, and she can also create a ring of fire around her opponents to isolate them and make them easier for a Ruby squadron to pick off.
Weapon: A gauntlet on her left hand with the White Diamond symbol on it. Formerly a Pink Diamond symbol.
Bio/History: Rubies tend to be very young--because they don't last long on the battlefield. Rubies are sent in first to thin out the opponents before the other gem battalions are brought into play. Ruby's successes on the battlefield as a young gem elevated her until she became one of Pink Diamond's chief war advisers. She was there in the thick of the fight when Pink Diamond was shattered. All of Pink Diamond's forces were re-distributed among the Diamond Authority. Ruby became part of White Diamond's war council. She's responsible for all of the Ruby squadrons--even those of the other Diamonds. While Rubies are typically common-soldiers, Ruby's age, experience, and rank put her at a position in society equal to that of the aristocratic gems. Despite this, Ruby makes a point of acting like the other Rubies: she sleeps in the barracks just like everyone else.
Lately Ruby has been having some internal conflict over the actions of the Diamond Authority. Corundum deposits are in very short supply, making it more difficult to produce Rubies and Sapphires. Sapphires are more sought after because they have a natural predisposition to future-vision. Because of this, all of the weak or injured Rubies aren't sent to reconditioning. They're sent directly to the processing center, where their gems are ground up and re-purposed to create Sapphires. None of this sits well with Ruby because it simply isn't right. There's growing unrest among the Ruby squadrons and rumors that the Rebellion will protect them from getting processed if they're injured on the battlefield. Ruby suspects that there's a growing movement to get injured Rubies off-world to Rebellion safe-holds throughout the galaxy, but she hasn't submitted a formal report on it yet. Ruby is loyal to the Diamond Authority, but she's loyal to her own gems first. She's beginning to wonder if the Rebellion is right.
