Okay, instead of going to E3 with the rest of the Binary Culture crew, they're sending me to the San Diego Comic Con. I'll be there as press rather than a creator, but I've never been to a con in my life and this is like... the big time. Any ideas on what makes good stories and what's just a waste of time would be very appreciated. When and where should I be hitting up the up-and-comers for interviews? Are panels worth it?

FIRST THING you do, get a program and highlight EVERYTHING you want to look at.
Panels are worth it, they showed the BAtman Begins trailer as a surprise at a DC panel.
As press, I'd try to get a cople of short quick interviews with the big names, but nothing more than like four questions, and hit up some of the up and comers for lengthier interviews, they'll dig on the free press.
As a creator, definately try to sit in on the classes. I built my sample pages around stuff I read at a Michael Turner Portfolio class, adn got picked up, granted majorly small, but hey, I'm not gonna b***h.
as for the you going to San Diego..I hate you..I've Heard Stan Lee is going to be there along with Rumors of Walt Simonson. have fun, and bust Quesada's balls if you have to chance.

I don't really have much advice really, I've only been to two big cons myself. I am seriously jealous though. And if Dan Slott's there hug him for me.
No, Seriously. Hug him. whee

not much left to say, since zieg said basically all there is. I do agree though about going to the company panels. If you get your portfolio reviewed. Make sure that you are someone that would stand out to them later if they see you around the convention ^_^
