Agni-hotra was still fuming when she got to the Training Grounds; if anything, she was even angrier after having had time to stew over the matter on her way here. She had spoken first, she had been right - and she had connected the two Bodaway descendants, which their new 'Matchmaker' had not: Nuria had only generalized that 'at least one' of the given lions was related to Bodaway. How was that acceptable? How was that better? How was her aunt the least bit better than her?

There was only one answer to that, in Agni-hotra's mind: she wasn't. The decision had been inherently unfair, whether it had been biased or just plain arbitrary. What right did a cowardly Magistrate's mother have to assign rank? Hell, for that matter, what right did the Magistrate have? Should not the Regents have been involved in the decision, aside from waving their paws and telling a fireless military drop-out to handle it? Hmph. Showed how much they thought of the position.

As she paced upon arrival at her destination, thinking over it all as she waited for her opponent to appear, over how it had been handled and by whom, her desire for the position that had briefly flared hot began to cool. It had never really been a competition, had it? Nuria hadn't won, but been chosen; there was an important difference. It still wasn't right, and she was still pissed as hell about it all, but in time she would be able to convince herself that she hadn't really wanted it. Why would she want to give up military life and become a civilian, so she could turn into another Na-atesh? No thank you.

Nuria's fury was on a slow boil as she wrapped things up with Hehewuti, and still simmered as she made her way to the Training Grounds. Being a sore loser was one thing, but she was not going to stand for the insults slung at her. Digs at her age, implying she only stepped forward out of shame...enough was enough. She'd stepped up. She'd answered to the best of her ability. She had a niggling feeling that she'd missed a Bodaway descendant, but...no. That was no excuse for her niece to pitch a fit like a cub throwing a tantrum. The lioness growled, tail lashing. She wasn't going to take this crap from anyone, but especially not someone closely-related enough to be called "family."

She composed herself by the time she arrived, blue eyes clear and hard, jaw set. "Let's get this nonsense over with," she spat.
