Based on the creature's injuries, Songtao suspected the boar was close If Songtao could just manage to... firmly nudge the boar, they would win the fight without killing him. Unless he was really just a plain boar, and then they were totally having a roast tonight.
She and the boar locked gazes, and she realized he knew he was in trouble. Songtao stepped forward and the pig didn't move. She took another step forward and he took a step back. Then, simultaneously, they both launched at each other. The impact of Songtao's buckler against the boar's snout snapped off one of his damaged tusks, but his face slid off the smooth surface of her shield and towards her weak side, giving her a nasty cut on the arm.
"Do we know if he is real person?" yelled Songtao.

Sid grimaced as Sylvia failed to get anywhere with her attack, rolling her shoulders in sympathetic pain. The turned chosen was looking ragged and tired, which was good for them, but they werenât in that great of a shape themselves. At least Sylvia had blocked most of the attacks that would have come Sidâs way, and for that, she was firmly on Sidâs âgoodâ list.
âNo idea!â Sid called to Songtao, watching her tangle with the board this time. She took the opportunity to fit an arrow into her bow before the crazed animal turned on her too, charging towards her. She stumbled as she scrambled backwards, watching a hard branch to the ribs before she managed to get her arrow off. It flew clean, though, and smacked the boar right between the eyes. It fell like a rock, giving a heavy groan.
All the fight seemed to go out of it as it lay flopped out, letting out a low whine.
âUmâŚâ Sid said as she straightened up, an arm around her ribs. âMaybe we better bring it back anyway? Just in case? It doesnât look so dangerous nowâŚâ

Sylvia winced at the impact as Songtao and the boar clashed. It didnât look or sound terribly pleasant. At Songâs question, she shook her head just once, a bit uncertain. âWe canât be sure, but those scraps of cloth on him could have been clothes.â
The boar somehow kept its momentum, maybe a last-ditch effort to take down its opponents, and ran at Sid. Sylvia hoisted her shield, but there was no way she could get there fast enough to block the pig. Luckily, Sid had prepared an arrow and had good aim. When the boar landed on the ground, the last fight in him apparently gone, Sylvia sighed with relief. She nodded at Sid, âWe should definitely keep him with the others⌠It canât hurt to keep him around, now that heâs uh⌠calm.â

There was a flower by her foot, Sid noticed, and she stooped to grab it before she went to deal with the pig.
âThanks for helping out guys. We made a pretty good team.â She said as she shoved at the boar, getting it up onto its feet so she could begin herding it to where the rest of the turned chosen were staying. She offered Sylvia a grin and a wink as she passed. âYou especially. That was great work with the shield, you really saved my a**. Iâd be glad to fight along side either of you in the future.â
She tossed them a playful salute as she headed off, the boar complaining in front of her, but more or less behaving itself.
