ABILITIES&WEAPONS
Ability: Rune Pulls - Kaede is able to create spherical runes roughly 5 feet in diameter that have a strong enough gravity to pull in masses up to 100 kilograms towards the center of the sphere, despite whatever speed they are at. After the rune holds the mass, the object will return to zero speed and drop it into the earth straight down.
He is only able to do up to five runes at most twenty feet away from him. Each rune is seen in a clear circular pattern with golden white light- making it easy to see for those who want to avoid them. The rune can only last for up to two minutes for dissipating. If the rune encounters more than its 100 kilogram limit, the rune will not be able to hold and will instantly break, making all the mass it was holding drop. Kaede is also susceptible to being pulled into his own runes if he happens to go too close to them.
Weapon: Kinshi Katana - A katana that was passed down from Kaede's mentor, Soren.

SECRETS
Bio: Kaede was born in Ethe to blacksmiths who served the Ethe's people for generations. From a young age, Kaede was taught how to create various objects in the forges with his parents, Percy and Kiyoko Lorent. As soon as he was able to pick up a hammer, his parents showed him how to create everything: weapons, armor, tools, utensils, everything. As a result, Kaede became a rather talented blacksmith. He would have continued on his route if it weren't for the various customers who came by.
Kaede and his parents served many people, ranging from the lowly commoners to the upper end nobility under the shop Lorent Forges. Kaede in particular, met a young apprentice of the same age of fourteen for the royal guard named Ian. Ian had been learning how to become a swordsman and wanted to get a sword from the business, but lacked the money. Kaede felt bad that the sword was on the more expensive pieces and offered to forge a personal sword for Ian. Kaede then set off to create swords for Ian, trying to make the perfect sword. Doing so however, he had lots of trouble. Kaede is a perfectionist at heart. He spent hours trying to draw out what would be Ian's ideal sword. While Ian was muscular and strong, he was fairly slow and not fast. Would a claymore be better for him then? Or would he want a sword and shield? This made Kaede spend hours at a time, trying to figure out what to do. He asked his parents for help, to which Percy and Kiyoko laughed about Kaede's determination. They advised him to watch Ian to see how he functions in battle. Kaede agreed and waited to discuss with Ian.
Ian was delighted to hear, saying that Kaede was a genius. They arranged a day that Kaede could tag along his training. Kaede was surprised that apprentices started so early in the morning at the break of dawn, running around. As they progressed through the day, Kaede then met Ian's mentor, Soren, Soren was a kind, fatherly like mentor who had been a guard for nearly three decades and now mainly trained new recruits. Kaede kept to the side, watching Soren train Ian through sword training, archery, riding, and general athletics. At some point, Kaede grew bored and slightly antsy. Soren, having noticed, offered Kaede to join in the training session. Kaede was unsure but accepted, standing next to Soren and began to learn how to swing a sword.
For the next couple of weeks, Kaede then just went with Ian during training with his parents' permission. Soren was a kind mentor, letting Kaede join since it would allow Kaede to understand more about weaponry itself. What Kaede gathered to learn is one thing: Ian was much better with a bow than sword. With that in thought, Kaede found inspiration and worked with his parents to create a longbow for Ian. Kaede then awaited for the day that Ian would take the oath and officially serve for the guards and kingdom. When the day arrived, Kaede and his family waited in the ceremony to see Ian swear his allegiance to serve both Ethe and the guard. At least, Kaede gave the bow to Ian. When Ian took the bow in his hands, a bell like laugh came from him. Ian thanked Kaede and made him promise: Kaede will join the guard himself.
Kaede was then put into training under the careful eye of Soren. While Kaede's parents were disappointed that Kaede was not going to follow in their footsteps as a blacksmith, they were proud of Kaede's decision. He spent several years training under Soren and became a guard when he was twenty-four. He served the Ethe kingdom since then, keeping the people and royal family in his highest priority. His family continued their blacksmith business, proud of their son.
Within the last year however, that all changed. Of the day of the eruption, Kaede can remember so well. It was blistering hot with so much ash in the air that Kaede thought he was going to be sick. He, Soren, and Ian were training new apprentices when the ground shook. As the sky turned red and people screamed, Kaede ordered the apprentices to head home and gather their families and to run. Soren and Kaede then began trying to save lives and bring them to safety. Just as Kaede thought it could go well, he say flaming rocks sail through the sky and towards Ian and other innocents. He threw himself in front of Ian, summoning the runes. Kaede tried to use his power, but it was too much. The flaming rocks broke through his gravity runes, smashing through and hitting him and the others. A terrible, searing pain hit his chest, and all went black.
When Kaede woke up, he found himself in a makeshift camp in absolute pain. He demanded to know what happened, not that he wanted to know. The news were too much. Ethe was destroyed, countless lives lost or missing. His family was nowhere to be found. Soren had been found but shortly passed away after the disaster due to blood loss. Ian.. was found dead, burnt alive and was the reason why Kaede was alive. Ian has used his body as protection from Kaede when Kaede collapsed. Kaede broke down, sobbing. His best friend was gone, the kingdom was gone, his mentor died, his family was missing, most likely dead.
He wanted nothing more than to simply faze out of existence like his loved ones. However, seeing the people trying to survive and the fact the Queen had lost all her family meant there had to be guards more than ever. Kaede returned to being a guard and then just hoped to serve the people. It was shortly within the last year that he was promoted to Captain of the Guard. Kaede deeply believes he doesn't deserve it. It should have been Soren's or Ian's place, not his. However, now was not the time to mourn. He had a duty, and he better do his damn best, or Ian would come back from the afterlife to beat him up as he would in their training sessions those many years ago.
Kaede now is constantly pushing away his feelings, defaulting to a stony neutral tone. He rarely shows emotion except for with those he is close with. Down to earth, Kaede tells exactly what he thinks without pulling back any punches. He has a deep pity for the citizens of Ethe, especially those who are seeking refuge win Phobos.
Dreams: Kaede hopes to rebuild Ethe from the ground where it will never be destroyed again.
Greatest fears: Kaede is afraid that there will be no future generations of Ethe families.
Unique mannerisms/physical habits: When he is with any other person no matter their occupation and feels threatened by an outside influence, Kaede will protect the other first and step in front of them and grip his katana.
