So things were really going at it, then. Lex seemed right, though. The bear didn't really seem all that interesting in attacking them, which only reassured the fact that it was their friendly neighborhood medic. He seemed more friendly as a bear, almost.
He fired another arrow that barely grazed the beast. His eyes never left Rafe, but his words traveled back to the rest of the group.
"So if, ah--" he shook his head slightly. He'd jumped on a croco-gator and come out totally fine. Zeus would certainly protect him against a bear too, right? Of course there had been nobody to protect that guy who went out and lived with them, but... well this was Rafe, right? He'd seen the guy here and there. "If I could get a hand I'm willing to try and get a curse in this thing's mouth. I have three." Hopefully they would work.
For all he sounded confident, though, Brian was horrified at the thought. If Rafe the Bear was barely fighting, though, there was a chance he wouldn't bite down. Maybe. Misha had scratched him up a few times after they'd thought she was won, after all.
No, no. Do now, panic later.

Tara hadn't been particularly... great with sniffing out the strange scents, and when they'd stumbled upon the massive bear she'd been more than a tad shellshocked by the large body of fur. And teeth. And claws. Though an animal herself with those same features, Tara balked at the notion of trying to lunge at the beast. Even as the others tried to subdue the bear--whom seemed to be lazing away rather than paying their efforts any real attention--Tara hesitated.
Though perhaps for good reason. When she finally got up the courage to go in close to do... well, something. She didn't even know how to approach the bear or what would be effective to combat it... and didn't really get much of a chance. The bear swatted at her with a lazy, heavy paw, and the wolf yelped, dancing backwards after getting caught with the heavy pads of the bear's paw. Snarling a bit and snorting at her own stupidity, she moved back towards Brian as she tried to reconsider how she was supposed to go about fighting in close-quarters.
She was a ranged fighter...
The notion to try and force a cure down the bear's throat though was met with an uneasy whine from the wolf... but she still gave a bark beside Brian, looking up at him expectantly. If he really was intending to get in close to the bear, the least she could do is try and help keep him--or whomever was going to try and do the deed--from getting smacked by those big paws... or chomped by those teeth...

Character Name:Tara O'Connell Brief description of character: An always smiling, cheerful sort, Tara wears her heart on her sleeve. A keen eye makes her a valued photographer, and an improving shot with a bow, but her temper makes her surprisingly stubborn and too willing to dig her heels in when she feels it's needed.
Lex was right, the bear was treating them more like a nuisance than a serious problem. It almost seemed like the grumpy Rafe underneath was hoping for a bit more time alone before being forced to come back to camp. But for better or for worse, they were gonna do their best to wear him down. Izzyâs question took Sylvia by surprise; she cast the woman a confused glance and gave a shrug, âI donât know if Iâd call him âcuteâ. He was kind of grumpy. But he helped people heal, so⌠thatâs a pretty big plus.â And a good reason to get him home safely.
Sylvia was hanging back and trying to decide where next to hit when Brian called for possible help. She was used to hitting things more than blocking, but her tower shield was more for defense than anything, and she could probably help get Brian closer than most of the others. âI could try and get you closer to him!â She kept one eye on the bear as she began to turn and head for Brian, and nearly tripped when she saw Tara take a blow, but she recovered and took up her position in front of the cop.
âI think we can get up to him alright, since heâs not too riled right now.â She nodded back at him and offered a smile, âLetâs hope he thinks youâre offering a treat.â She winked before turning back and preparing to take whatever swipe the bear wanted to throw at them.

"Hm. Grumpy can be cute. I guess I'll have to see for myself." She hadn't thought of shoving a cure down the bear's gullet, and part of her was happy Brian had volunteered first.
As Sylvia prepared her defense of Brian with that massive-a** shield of hers, Izzy thought she might try to distract the bear and give Brian a better chance. But as she stepped in to whack it with her spear, she stepped wrong, slipped, and just kinda stroked the side of the bear with the pole. It kinda looked at her like she was a weirdo, and backhanded her away, sending her skittering back against a tree. She looked down at Tara, and shrugged. So much for that.

Block, block⌠ooh, ******** me. His weapons were not meant to be blocking! At least not a swipe from a bear! Lex twisted, skittering over to stand by Izzy, balanced on the balls of his feet and focused. âBe ready to stuff a cure in his mouth, Iâm going to attempt to jump on his back and distract him so you can cure him.â He grumbled.
That should work right? Who wouldnât be distracted by a hundred some pounds of tiny screeching choosen? And he was totally going to do it screaming Leory Jenkins. It just seemed appropriate.

Sylvia's shield seemed like it should be more than enough to keep him protected from the bear's half-hearted attempts at retaliation. In fact, it was too effective. Brian tried to figure out how to get around it with little success and lunged at the bear. Rafe turned, Brian had to take another step after nearly-falling, and then just watched the bear. Well, that didn't work.
Wait, Lex was going to jump on a bear?! "I would not suggest jumping on the bear!"
...except it might work? (700)

With one cure attempt fail, Lex took a deep breath, roared out 'Leeeorrry Jenkinsss!" And Jumped at Rafe, scrambling up the broad back and coarse fur to keep the bears attention away from Izzy.

"Wrangle that Grumpy Bear!" Izzy yelled, encouraging Lex In a way that probably wasn't responsible. She dropped her spear and took a cure - a little Swiss roll - out of her jacket pocket and balled it in her right fist. Rafe was thoroughly distracted by the cherub on his back, so Izzy was able to quietly, but urgently, step around the bear towards its large, roaring maw. Rafe was craning his neck up, trying to yell at Lex, but his eye caught Izzy, and his head snapped, mid-roar, at her.
She had less than a second to react.
Izzy closed her eyes and jammed her right fist in its mouth, cure and all. She had feared it would snap her hand off immediately (hence, using her non-dominant hand), but apparently the bear was in too much shock, between getting rode like a pony and basically getting punched in the tonsils. Belatedly, Izzy snatched her hand away, and the bear swallowed the cure, and started to shudder.
The bear's fur suddenly seemed to quake, seemed far too loose, like merely a large bear pelt was thrown over a lanky creature. But then the fur seemed to disappear suddenly, and immediately Lex and a very pale looking man were on the bare ground. The strange man moaned, but did not stir.
One moment he was scrambling to get a grip of course dense thick fur and the next he was sprawled on the ground? He shifted sitting up and looked down at a rather nicely shaped pale back. Ooh, ooh Well, up. That was a naked man. Who he was sitting on.
"I take it that it worked," Lex said, trying to keep a straight face as he stood up wobbling slightly from the adrenaline rush and giggled. He had jumped a bear.He managed a few steps before sitting down, giggling..."I jumped a bear," he gasped, "and it worked."
Brian gave a triumphant laugh and a fist pump when Rafe appeared as they were used to him, except maybe a bit more naked. Oh, uh. Naked. Right. That couldn't be fun. It was best to ignore it, though, right? This was the man who bandaged them all up. They had no choice but to be nice.
He walked over to the man and offered an arm and a smile, not expecting one back. Well then. They had better get the naked man back to camp, right?

Izzy shook her arm, flinging off a bunch of the bear slobber, and wiping the rest on her jacket. She recovered her breath, and looked down at the naked healer. Lex was giddy and pleased with himself, though Izzy didn't find this as thrilling as it could be. This guy looked like he'd evaporate if exposed to direct sunlight. She grabbed her spear, and came up besides Brian.
"Come on, Big Dude. I'll help you drag Professor Snape back to Hogwarts."
Well, the attempt with Brian hadnât worked as well as sheâd hoped. Poor Brian hadnât quite known what to do with Sylviaâs shield and ended up past Rafe, turning around just in time to warn Lex that jumping on a bear was probably not a safe idea. Sylvia would have seconded the vote for caution, but it was too late â Lex was jumping on the bearâs back, harkening to an internet meme. All she could do was hope that this would go wellâŚ
And somehow, it did. After encouraging Lex, Izzy was able to jump forward with a cure in her hand and⌠sort of stun the beast into swallowing it. The shift from bear to man happened much quicker than Sylvia would have thought, and soon enough Lex was scrabbling on the back of a naked Rafe in the middle of the clearing.
Sylvia chuckled at Lex, âWell done.â Brian and Izzy were nice enough to offer to help Rafe back to camp, which was probably a good idea â he seemed pretty exhausted. Sylvia pulled a sweater from where sheâd held it against her shield and approached Rafe, holding it out to him. âIn case youâd rather cover up, you can borrow this.â She would wash it laterâŚ
