"Yeah. Vacation time is a luxury, and randomly disappearing for days at a time is pretty frowned-upon." He'd put in his two weeks' notice and then this whole Circe ordeal had started. He was probably going to have to hand in his equipment a bit early, and nobody was going to hire him again after this. The Prytaneum was all that he had any more. His long-term solution had ended up being to turn wholly toward the god that had chosen him. Go figure.
The silence that followed was just fine. He felt that it dispelled some of the negativity in the previous conversation. There was no use worrying now after all. They had people to save.
Sylvia broke the silence and he turned to her, smiling softly. "Yeah, I think we are. Besides, we were all chosen for a reason, right? Even if we don't know what that reason is exactly."

“That doesn’t surprise me.” Sylvia raised her brows, a somewhat amused smile on her lips. She couldn’t really disappear without a trace either, but she had planned on being absent for a while after Brynn came to get her. She’d called most of her clients to cancel their upcoming appointments and promise them she would call them to reschedule soon.
There was something very pleasant about Brian’s smile. She nodded at his response. “Exactly.” She took a deep breath, and slowly released it, realizing what a long trip it had been already as her muscles ached with the release. “Well, we should probably rest for a bit, before we go out to expand our collection.” She gave Brian a wink, “I’ll see you around later?” It wasn’t a huge group of them there, she was sure she would see him again at some point, so she wasn’t exactly sure why it came out as a question. Perhaps she was checking to make sure he even cared to see her again sometime, waiting to gauge his response. In any case, she couldn’t shift her inflection now, so it would have to do as a question.

Brian snickered a little at Sylvia's reaction. Yeah, it would be silly to think for even a moment that the police approved of their officers going AWOL, especially with the political landscape as of late. He made eye contact again, though, and his self-derision slid away. Sylvia was definitely a sweet sort.
"We should," he said with a little sigh. He gave the young woman a nod and a wave as he started off in the direction of his intended destination. "Yeah, I'll see you." He'd certainly like to, anyway.
For him, though, "rest" was only a break in battle and at the moment he was headed to town to see if he could get anything else out of those goth kids.
