His blue eye stared up into the clear day sky. It looked to be a fair day with low chance of storm. In his good hand a sleeping babe, nestled up against his side. And on the bench with him, his mate with his other sleeping babe.
It was so peaceful. So serene in that moment of comfort. It was strange. But stranger still was the fact that he himself birthed those two sleeping babies. But at least he was a he once more.
"Y'arrgghhh...I can't tell ye how good it feels to be back in my real body." Though one could argue his female form was his body, it certainly never felt like it to him. It was always like he was borrowing it, or it was a prison cell he was locked in. "Can finally piss standing 'gain."
Always having to sit with his pants down was much more inconvenient than he ever thought!

A cool breeze drifted over them, carrying the salty scent of the ocean as the ship rocked gently in the surf. Andromeda couldn't remember a time she'd been more happy than how she was right now: her dearest mate beside her, and the two most precious things in the world sleeping in each of their arms. She took a deep breath, then slowly let it out, staring up above them as the clouds drifted by.
At Darias' comment, she laughed a little. She could relate to an extent, but at least her transformation had only lasted a short period. Poor Darias had to deal with being female and pregnant. "Hey, you can stop worrying about wetting yourself for no reason too." That had been entertaining, the first time one of the kids had kicked in just the right way. If memory served right, it'd been just as he was ordering around some poor sap to scrub the deck harder.
"Remember the look on the cook's face when you'd send me to get you some weird combination of food? I think at some point you ordered anchovies on oatmeal, and then threatened to have the cook tossed overboard because it wasn't anchovies enough."

His satisfied smile quickly was wiped off at her comment, and he flashed his gaze from above to the female. "Oy! We don't give mention to...THAT incident. Or the crying." That had been awful. He was so overwhelmed with the deck being especially noisy and he caught two crew mates laughing about his big belly that he ended up bawling in his cabin. Hormones. They were real and they were a b***h.
"Or worse...the seasickness." The crying he could handle. The out of control bladder and gas and moodswings and sore feet. But a pirate captain suddenly nauseous at the tip of a hat? Throwing up over deck because of large swell of the ocean? He disgusted himself.
The chef issue though was a bit of humor in hindsight. "Aye. His eyes buldged from his head when I swaddled down, belly big as a barrel o rum and threatened to gut 'n' drown erry paeson in his family." His irritation from earlier disappated into mirth at that thought. His wrath was particularly worse during that point. One of the few perks to the whole ordeal. "N'ver did 'pologize to ye for throwin the bowl at yer head. Sorry."

Andromeda snorted, fighting back the laughter that wanted to spill out. "Well, look on the bright side. now that you've experienced what it means to be a hormonal mess, you'll be able to relate to your daughter when she's turned into an angst-filled, hormone-crazed teenager."
She had felt really bad for Darias when that morning and sea sickness had kicked in. That had been a LOT of mess and a worse smell. Of course, she and Black Jack had made an agreement that anyone caught making any comments about Darias' condition had been set on vomit clean up. She wasn't sure if Darias had known what they'd done, but she certainly wasn't about to tell him.
"Love, I believe you struck fear into anyone in your way when you lumbered yourself down the deck in rage." A very small smile came over her face at his apology. "You weren't your sane self. love, and I ducked out of the way in time. Besides, you've dealt with quite a few of my own crazed rampages, and I wasn't even with pregnancy brain at the time."

"...Don't remind me. A son, that there be something I can handle. But a daughter?" He shook his head with a bit of a sigh. "Keep me from throwin 'er overboard til she learns how ta swim."
Then a follow up thought, one that made his jaw clench. "...'N keep me from eyegouging e'rry pae 'ere that eyeballs her when she grows up." No one would dare try anything with their daughter, he was sure of that. But in secret out of the corner of their vision...who wouldn't look? They were men on a boat for months at a time, he expected as much.
"After that the ship got real quiet for the rest of the day." He spoke before throwing his head back in a hearty laugh. "Ye always had quick reflexes. And yer rage is one of the things I love 'bout ye." His ball of fire, his lucky charm, his mate. His Andromeda.

"Oh, you'll handle a daughter just fine. Besides, I'm sure you would hate to do anything to hurt something you went through so much horror to make!" She burst into laughter as he made mention of men staring at their daughter. "Oy, I did pretty well fending off all those eyes, and my father wasn't the feared captain of the sea. I almost feel bad for the boys that'll be interested in her."
The sound of his laugh warmed her heart, and she shifted over to rest her head on his shoulder. "Aye, but at least my rage doesn't come as a surprise or without warning. I'm sure I'd be scarier than the krakan if it where me being pregnant." She gently shifted the babe in her arms as they fussed, cooing softly.
"We made some damn beautiful kids, though."

"Kill, no. Hurt? A lil pain does the soul good!" As he spoke he lifted his hooked hand, flashing a toothy grin. Of course he didn't mean for their daughter to lose her hand, but his good one was occupied with a baby. "Builds character!"
As she plopped onto his shoulder he settled back down. Andromeda pregnant...now that was a scary thought. Still grinning he looked at the beautiful female by his side. "Poseidon willing, maybe we'll find out one day."
His gaze shifted from her down to the babies in their arms. The gentle waves of the sea rocked them to sleep, and sound of drunk crewmen were their music. They'd grow up to be fine pirates. "Aye. They'll be the fiercest cap'ns in all the sea."

"Poseidon willing? How about we see if the crew can survive these two little whirlwinds before we think of bringing any more in. Besides, with how much a pain you were with hormones, how do you think things will be looking with me?" She watched the babe in her arm falling asleep, then let out a soft sigh.
"When should we start baby proofing the ship? You know, putting the sharp pointy things out of reach, maybe hiding things they can choke on. Oh! Before I forget!" She sat up and gently placed the sleeping baby in her lap, pulling out a piece of cork. "For the hook. They're too young to need an eye patch."
She was teasing, or course. Sort of.

"Y'argghh. We already ventured into the unknown. I picture a deck full of lil me n ye spawn!" What a sight that would be! "'N I think tis only fair ye get a taste of it."
And then a thought that never crossed his mind. He turned to stare at her with a bit of disbelief. "Baby proofing? Hiding our sabers?" His eye narrowed at the cork.
"...I'm not puttin' THAT on. 'Tis a pirate ship! We do battle! We dance wit krackens and skirt Davey jones' locker. Nay nay, we...we are not swaddling any kin of mine." The thought of putting a cork on his...on his hook. His hook. That was his hand! He needed that hook for...hooking things.
"Sides...lil pain builds character."
