Nadinia was sprawled out on a sofa in the dorm common room, a book about the flora of Below on her stomach, propped against her knees, a sketchbook on her chest. It wasn't homework, but she was simply trying to distract herself. The Dryad was sketching out flower arrangements, frowning slightly. She wasn't familiar with what grew down here, unlike Above, where she could come up with ideas so easily... She shook her head, and scratched out what she was working on. It just wasn't up to her standards. A long sigh escaped her mouth. The sketching was supposed to distract her from her current situation, but it was really just reminding her of it. How could her parents have sent her down here? She'd been so happy Above!
She idly she flipped pages in her book, looking for something to be the centrepiece of the arrangement. A few pages in she noticed a huge lotus-like flower. Perhaps that one. She started sketching again.

Flying near the rafters, Sprout trudged back to their dorm room, heavy backpack of books dragging them down the slightest. It had been a long day (learning so much and forced to sit so still), so they were eager for some sort of distraction. Pushing open the common room doors from the top, Sprout almost immediately dropped to the ground, stumbling the slightest from the weight of their load. "All... done," the Fallen muttered to no one in particular, dropping the bag to the floor. They needed a bit of a breather before they took the trudge upstairs, and it was always nice to sit in the lounge where others flittered through.
"What are you working on?" Sprout couldn't help but ask the moment they noticed Nadinia from across the room, her pencil working furiously. Their wings shifted the slightest, practically buzzing in anticipation. Sprout loved art projects.

Nadi jumped when the Fallen spoke to her. She'd been oh-so absorbed into her fruitless sketching that she hadn't even noticed their arrival. "Oooh, sorry. I guess it's been a long day and I'm sort of jumpy..." She gave them a half-hearted smile. This whole Below thing was really weighing on her.
She held up her sketch book, showing her partially illustrated flower arrangement. "I swear I used to be good at making these when I lived Above. But down here all the plants are different. ... And I don't know them, so my sketches end up looking like this." She gave a short, harsh laugh.
She scooched up on the sofa and tucked her knees under her. "Sorry, I should have introduced myself before I made you look at my bad sketches. I'm Nadinia." She stuck her hand out, and gave a much warmer smile. Nadi looked the Fallen up and down. "Your necklaces are so great."
Below might suck, but she didn't need to be a jerk to anyone. Plus, maybe if she was nice enough, she might make a new friend down here.

"I've always lived in Below," Sprout commented as if the sentiment would help Nadinia feel more like an insider than an outsider. Sprout wasn't always the best on thinking before they spoke. They were curious though, eye brows arching as they glanced over the other's work.
"I know what those are," the Fallen informed brightly before rattling off their names, looking proud enough for the pair of them. "That must mean something?" they asked in their usual chipper tone, rubbing a shoulder where the weight of their backpack had been resting. However, she was quickly offering out a hand and Sprout took it, squeezing tight in their ever apparent enthusiasm. "I think your sketches are pretty good for what it's worth!"
There was a small pause as if a realization came to them. "My name's Sprout," they informed with a small, goofy grin as if it was the best inside joke ever to have a name relevant to plants. Helping themselves, the Fallen plopped down on the open spot on the sofa, mirroring her position as they drew up their knees. "Thanks," Sprout said around the same grin, moving to jangle their collection of necklaces. "I made them from all sorts of stuff."

Nadinia's mouth feel slightly open as sprout rattled off the names that matched her sketches. "Wow! That was impressive." She smiled at them, and the smile even touched her eyes. Nadi loved plants enough that anyone who seemed to know about them was automatically in her good books.
Her smile widened at the introduction. "Great name, too!" Her eyes flitted back to her sketches, and she quickly noted down the plant names, before she forgot them. Perhaps at some point she'd even manage to remember them. After all, it seemed like she'd be stuck Below for some time.
Nadinia glanced back to Sprout's necklace. "You made those? That's awesome." She looked at them even closer now. Before, it had been good accessorizing, now it was something else entirely. Nadi like to imagine herself creative, with her flower arrangement, but some people were true artists. She always found herself immensely interested in what others created. ... Especially when it looked so good!
