Baroness Youkimi Kai Living today without a way To understand the weight of the world
For some reason, the tone of Dixon's earlier outrage had Youkimi believing that someone was going to get a fist across the face. When that didn't happen, however, she was not only dually impressed with Dixon's control, but she was also largely confused about what had set him off in the first place. He had halted for a moment before he dropped to a knee. She thought she saw a sliver of blackness from his head vanish, slither out of sight...
Odd.
Her eyes returned to the stranger Dixon humbly apologized to. This... seemed very bizarre to her, but the exact reason for it confused and escaped the baroness. She patiently waited to see how the scene unfolded. Most of the spectators had begun to return to whatever they were reading and attending to, this because the count seemed honest in his declaration. However, the aggravation of the gold-eyed stranger had yet to tell his emotions. What were they, truly? She wasn't sure whether to believe the convincing disapproval of his expression... Earlier, there had been amusement. Why?

Cyn BronzewellCyn had placed a small lantern on the wooden table in the center of the Library, its tiny light lighting up everything out in the open, of course this didnt allow Cyn to easily traverse the shadowy bookcases, but the light that got though the cracks between the books where just enough to let her pick out some letters and names. She pulled a few books; the art of war, the laws of succession, Epsilon Lore and she put them on the table before sitting down. Cyn wasn't bothering to hide her femininity today, her now shoulder length hair was curly and loose and she wore reveling clothing for a lady, a very short skirt and a long coat, clothing not even proper for the time and would have been considered scandalous for any class of citizen. The first book she opened was the book on Epsilon lore, the first story she was confronted with was the story about Ivirth the first and how he united the young kingdoms of Epsilon and made an Empire of peace.

Gone's the wisdom Of a thousand years A world in fire and chains and fear
Come morning, after he had eaten, the weather had not quite cleared up enough for him to want to venture out into the wide and great outdoors all the way to Phobos. So, for the meantime, he thought he would take a turn about the city and look around. He found his way to the library, which was open to the public. A remarkable thing in and of itself.
He took a turn through the shelves, not looking for anything in particular, but he was curious about the copies of history that were kept here, and thus learning about the kind of education the common people had in Bellris' republic.
Along the halls, he saw a light flicker through a keyhole. Curious, he steadily and carefully opened a door. Walking from him, he saw a form turn to sit at at a table. He couldn't doubt that it was a female, for she was dressed in a manner that no sensible man would have been caught dead wearing. Besides which, no man, sensible or otherwise, had a figure to support such attire.
Intrigued and rather puzzled, he followed her steps and watched where she went, to the books she searched.... Must have been a bartender or someone who worked at an inn. She seemed a little.....
He cleared his mind and closed the distance, approaching as cautiously as he could. Then he cleared his throat to betray his presence. "Considering the temperature, dear lady, it's surprising that your attire is so..... open."
It really wasn't much of a conversation starter, and he knew that. Unfortunately, nothing better suited was coming to mind.

Cyn BronzewellCyn looked up with a start, summoning shadows to her hand on reflex. Then she turned her head, looking over her shoulder and seeing the white haired man and taking a moment to register his appearance before the shadows evaporated and returned to the walls. She put a hand on her hip, causing her uneven skirt to sway behind her knees "Well... Some could say" Cyn was trying to think of something to say back to him but then she looked down at her skirt and huffed "Well... Sometimes a girl gotta mix things up a bit" she said to him before turning back to the book she was reading, she had managed to get halfway though the Ivirth tale before he had come up behind her "what brings you to the library good sir?" she asked him, her curly black hair framing her bright green eyes.

And she flirted. He might have guessed. Unsure of what to say to this, and finding his head suddenly clear itself of thoughts, he could only press his lips together in a smile. So, in freezing temperature, she still had reason to 'mix it up'. Very well. He thought he saw shadows that didn't belong in the air, bug as they didn't strike him, he decided not to let it worry him. However, even in the few reports that were given, there were not many at all who wielded the shadows at their command.
After all, all he heard were rumors. Intrigued, he moved around the table. "I was in Bellris and engaging in foreign business and policy and didn't take the weather into account. I will stay until the weather calms. Unfortunately, as I didn't pack for the duration, I realized I didn't bring anything to read."
He took hold of a chair nearby and he drew it back, all while still looking at her uniquely bright eyes. "May I?"

Cyn BronzewellCyn chuckled slightly "By all means" she said, nodding to the chair before she reached over and took the book, plopping it down in front of him; The Art of War. "Here, its some pretty good reading, Use to be a requirement in order to join the Lionis forces" she managed to look up at him for a second, her nimble fingers flicking a page over as she spoke "Not to mention a general lay of the entire world" Cyn's eyes looked back down at her book, she had finally made it to the second king, Syros I Lionis. It was a very short paragraph with little to tell her about who he was or what he did during his reign, all he seemed to really be known for was being the son of the chosen king and the first one named Syros. Cyn flipped the page again "I normally don't wear skirts but it was either this or dozens of layers of underskirts and petticoats and all that formal s**t that should be punishable in some way." a huff escaped her lips as she blew up her curly black hair "Its humiliating just to get into that s**t, pants are so much easier to move in anyway. So." Cyn cut off her sentence harshly before she looked back up at him "So what do you have to do on business this far north? you don't look super friendly."

Gone's the wisdom Of a thousand years A world in fire and chains and fear
He saw the book she placed before him. An interesting selection. He wasn't quite used to seeing it in this script, but it was interesting all the same. He read it once, a very long time ago, but a thorough understanding required quite attentive study habits.
He opened the book and casually glanced over the words on the page. But his ear was more focused on her words and the rather unladilike behavior and explanation she gave. Nevertheless, he found himself smirking and chuckling. No, this was definitely not the tongue of a noblewoman. Perhaps he was mistaken. On the other hand, anyone could change their verbiage merely by how they lived.
"Given the new year, I thought it best to leave my den long enough to interact with people in other countries. From what I hear, times are changing, and if the divine interference in Ethe is any indicator, bigger and greater things are yet to come." He glanced up from his words and smiled across the table at her. She wasn't wrong. He wasn't a terribly friendly individual. He wasn't known for being social. "I hate to be left behind when interesting things happen, you see."
He nodded to her books. "Do you read for edification or your amusement?"

Cyn BronzewellRolling her eyes Cyn continued reading "Both. I'm not to big on reading but its good to refresh yourself on how to read some times" she said to him "In my line of work its not always needed.... fighting that is" she tacked on the last bit after a few second pause "So turning to the written word is a good pass time and something that is very useful to keep up. It teaches you quite a bit depending on what you want to learn from basic sword techniques to advanced botany" she said "However history and lore is much more my cup of tea, you can learn quite a bit from the past mistakes of others, especially the shortcomings one had" Cyn muttered before looking back up at the white haired man and actually snorting "Clearly you don't know much about what's been going on then. You must have been living under a rock." she said crossly as the cold winds sudden gusts rattled the windows and caused the candle in the lantern to flicker "I heard the goddess Antari has awoken in response to the fire goddesses appearance in the east."
