- Like usual, he ignored the sarcasm and jab at his intelligence. By now he could easily let such verbal abuse roll off his back. Of course that meant that he didn't reply to the question that was asked. Instead, he decided to focus on the task at hand since Odin seemed to get lost in thought. As the elf prepped the splint for use he didn't comment on the fact that the lie the other slave thought up wasn't going to work. Now was not the time for that after all. Ruven made it a habit not to talk when his owner was around unless absolutely necessary--most of the time. Being silent and doing what he was told might not have been what Odin needed; but it seemed to be working well enough so far. Of course there was that awkwardness between them; but it was hardly anything worth worrying about. After all, he was only trying to get by with as little effort as possible while gathering information. The elf didn't want to make any real efforts to connect with Odin or try to turn his life around. Why would he do that when the guy destroyed it all by himself? As far as he was concerned the werewolf could continue to ******** up his life as long as it didn't involve him that much.
"This might hurt a bit," he warned in a comforting tone. Although it might have only sounded that way because he said it softly; almost as if the words were meant to be heard just by Kid. Then he proceeded to place the broken wrist in the splint as carefully as he could manage. It didn't take that long; but his owner was being a bit distracting. His antics in general were rather trying. Sure Ruven found a way to deal with him for the most part; but he still felt drained after any ordeal ended. "There. All done." The elf gently tapped the splint as he spoke those words in a tone almost as quiet as when he warned Kid he was about to put it on.
That was around the time that Odin finally made his decision before disappearing into the bathroom in his typical fashion. "Well let's get you back," he said as he went to get the clothes that were ready to be worn for the most part. If the elf had to help Kid get dress then he did as gently as possible. Did he have to? No, of course not; but there was a reason he was taking care of the guy to the best of his ability. A reason that no one needed to know about. With that done he grabbed the ice pack and handed it to the injured one. "Keep this on your wrist and try not to move your arm too much." The elf would have brought the bottle of water if it wasn't stuck in the bathroom with his owner. There was no way he was going to try to retrieve it now.
"Which shop do I need to take you to?" Ruven asked after they made it down the stairs. Then he opened the door for the injured one in order to let him pass with ease. The walk to the station was a bit longer than normal. That was because Ruven didn't take him straight there. He felt like it was best to try to make it harder for the guy to find a way back just in case he rats Odin out and tries to lead someone to the apartment. Being a slave he shouldn't get in trouble for his owner beating someone up; but it was still better to be safe than sorry. If Kid happened to noticed he would deal with that when it was questioned. Hopefully the other slave was too out of it to have been paying attention when he was brought to the apartment earlier.
As they walked Ruven kept up a conversation going for two reasons. One was to distract the guy while the other was to get information. Whether it was useful information or not would be revealed later. "So who was looking to buy you?" He asked in a casual tone. The elf only paused for a moment before he added more questions. Whether or not the first question was answered before he opened his mouth again didn't matter. "Did the person seem like they'd be a good master? Or do you just want to get out of the shop?" The last question was asked more like it was an afterthought. "How long have you been up for sale anyway?"
By the time they seemed to finish any talk about the shop the two arrived at the train station. "Oh, I almost forgot." He started as if it wasn't a big deal even though he definitely remembered the fact that he should address the issue. "If you are going to lie about how you got hurt I would put more effort into the story. I don't think anyone would think you had a lot of money to steal...maybe they would think you had drugs on you though. Soo you could say that someone thought you had drugs and tried to take that from you only to get more violent when they found nothing. Then mention that a kind samaritan helped tend to your wounds in order to explain the fact that you are all cleaned up and sporting a splint." Ruven gave his suggestion without realizing that he used a particular word that slaves probably didn't have a tendency to say.
It wasn't long after that the train arrived at the empty platform. After all, Kid and Ruven were the only ones that were waiting. It wasn't until they got on and the train began to move that the elf asked another question. "By the way, I hope you don't mind me asking...but...are those tattoos on your face?" He spaced out the words like he did in order to give a certain feeling while using a curious type of tone.
