Eat soft foods and broth so you don't stress your body.
And then a heating bad works really well i think.

Midol and also a heating pad really helps; laying with your knees to your chest with teh heating pad on your abdomen helps.
When I was in high school mine got so bad I would have to stay home from school 1-2 days because walking was unbearable. I almost fell down the steps once due to a severe period cramp.
After I had a child, they kind of lightened up a but but I do still get them as well as mood swings, fatigue, drowsiness and severe pain in back and breasts. Sometimes being a woman sucks bad.

All of the above suggestions are great. Another thing I recommend is exercise. I find that always helped me, even if it was just a quick walk.

When you lay down try to not lay in the fetal position. That can make your cramps worse, try to lay down normally.

I've been on Depo-Provera for at least four or five years now so I can't really remember what it's like to have a period anymore. sweatdrop

I have endometriosis, so I have permanent pelvic pain from it. My periods were severely painful, and super debilitating so I'm not allowed to have them anymore. My best suggestions are a constant flow of naproxen and acetaminophen mix, heating pads, a TENS unit [if you can afford one- they're super useful], and biofreeze / tiger balm / lidocane [numbing topical gels / creams]. That's what I can think of off the top of my head. I'm on a ton of treatment for my pain ranging from drugs to physio to acupuncture to yoga and meditation.

With regular exercise I notice that the pain doesn't last as long or is as intense. Currently going through it right now, so I take two extra strength Tylenol, most Drs would suggest naproxen or something similar. I also drink raspberry leaf tea. I should be drinking it days before when I know it's coming but usually I only drink it during. Supposedly it's supposed to help, I can't tell, maybe it is maybe it isn't but it could also be a mental thing. Anything helps. Coupled with my heating pad it's still painful but better than doing nothing.

-Exercise... like walking or something light.
-Warm things like a heating lad.
-medicines
-soft foods and no meat... makes your body have to work harder to digest it
-and as odd as it may sound... sex totally works XD (not that I encourage that if your not ready)
But it 100% makes you feel better. Lol
