Fuchsia City is a city located in southwest Kanto. Its most distinguishing features are the Safari Zone and the Poison-type Gym. A small known fact is that Bill, the famous Pokemaniac, has a grandfather who lives here. Koga used to be the Fuchsia City Gym Leader until his daughter Janine took over after Koga took on a job as one of the Elite Four. Janine's gym employs many tricks to the eye, as all the trainers in the gym look exactly like her. Trainers who wish to challenge Janine must navigate through invisable walls and guess which trainer is the real Janine.

Route 15 leads into Fuchsia City from the east, Route 18 from the west is connected to Cycling Road, which leads all the way up to Celadon City, and the beach of Route 19 is in the south, a common way to reach the Seafoam Islands or Cinnabar Island.

Some battles can become's an SOS battle in which the initial encounter may summon a second Pokemon to support it after the first turn.
