Quote: This opponent should be fought with at least a team of 3, and must be fought outside the hotel. The sky above you is darkened by the flutter of a large number of wings: a mass of the metallic birds that hit against each other in their attempts to be the first to attack you. There are too many to fight alone, and you are glad to have allies at your side. They attack by launching their feathers at you or by flinging their poisonous dung. Hit points: 100 Damage: 5 each time they are attacked If you successfully kill this bird, each party involved in the battle gets 15XP and rolls 1d100 to collect loot according to the following: 1-40: You fought a hard battle well, and gain an extra 5XP! 41-60: Poisonous Dung: You manage to collect a vial of the vile stuff. It can thrown at an opponent once to poison them, dealing 1 damage for 3 turns. After this it is consumed and leaves your inventory forever. 61-80: Heart's Blood: You manage to collect a vial of the creature's blood. It can be used once to replenish 3 HP, at which point it is consumed and leaves your inventory forever. 81-100: Metal Feather: Once per battle, you can backstab with this small dagger. Add 2 to your final damage. This item is reusable, and remains in your inventory.

The flock of birds seemed never ending. As many as the chosen killed, there were always more... throwing dark shadows even as light sparked off their metal feathers. After the first time and her successful slaying of the single bird, Sid had felt just a little bit cocky and sure of herself. The feeling only grew when she had successfully backed up that other pair of Chosen... Tara and Zebulon. These birds were nothing. All they had was superior numbers. They were going to dispatch them and return with trophies and the pride of a job well done. It was in this frame of mind that she slipped boldly out the side door again for another smoke. Smoke had curled boldly upwards for a while, before something moving in the treeline caught her eye. Curiosity, and the thought that it could be another of the missing guests too scared to leave cover to risk getting to the safety of the hotel, drew her forward and she dared cross the open ground to investigate. Once there... there was nothing. It could have been a ghost, or more likely some deer. The sound of wings didn't register at first, she was so used to the constant flapping noise inside the hotel. But she wasn't in the hotel, and that sound was far closer than it had been before. And far more numerous than the singular bird she had fought alone, or even a pair of them. Sid lifted horrified eyes to find a cloud of them descending on her and she paled, fumbling to bring up her bow in time to defend herself. She managed to get one off, but in her panic, it only grazed one of the birds, knocking it off course. She didn't wait to see if it rejoined its fellows and took off in a pelting run for the hotel, feeling the first flung metal feathers cutting her coat as they pelted her. She was kinda tired... After fighting these damned birds for so long, Mercy was feeling tired and a bit cranky. She wanted something new to do or at least to meet a different person. There had to be more people other than Mal, Rob, Math, Cas, Jan, Rose, Misha, and Rory. Not that they were all bad people or anything, hell she liked them all just fine...Maybe it was because she missed her Xbox and Doritos. Either way, she was going to meet a new person or this war with the birds was going to be over. She was making a snow angel in a nice spot free of birds when she smelled something familiar... Was that weed? Who the hell had time to smoke weed? Mercy got up from her snow angel and followed her nose, extremely curious as to who she would find smoking the "reefer" as her grandpappy used to call it. Who she saw didn't seem familiar [She'd remember anyone with rainbow hair] but she wasn't sure if that was her reefer smoker. She readied her hammer and almost laughed as the poor woman made her way towards her, running from the birds instead of fighting. Well, I know she isn't Ares.... "Need a hand?" She didn't wait for a confirmation, raising her hammer above her head and throwing it at the bird chasing her. The poor thing fell to the ground with a squeak, a dent in the side of its wing. Stats Mercy's HP: 50 - 5 = 45Weapon: War Hammer Melee -- Heavy Mod: 10 damage, -1 to hit SMALL SWARM Hit points: 97 - 5 = 92 Damage: 5 each time attacked

With a grimace, Rob rolled his shoulders as he prepared to go back outside of the hotel. Were there no end to these birds? Where were they coming from? Who if anyone had sent them? These were questions that demanded answers, answers that likely weren't going to be forthcoming any time soon. He sighed and headed toward the door. May as well go on out, take out more of these things if he could. Once outside, he caught a whiff of something in the air and chuckled. Had to be Sid -- leave it to her to find time to smoke. Looking around, he spotted a mass of the birds engaged in battle with a couple of Chosen out in the expanse between the hotel and the tree line. He peered, trying to see who it was -- then his eyes widened. Sid and Mercy! He began to run as hard as he could toward them, unsheathing his greatsword as he ran. There was no way the two of them could take out that many birds. He finally reached them, swinging at the nearest bird with a gutteral snarl. The blade of the sword sliced through the creature's body, spraying blood everywhere. It wasn't a mortal wound, though, and the thing shrieked and backpedaled in the air out of harm's way. "Are you nuts?" he scolded the two women. "There's too many to take on just the two of you!" Stats Rob's HP: 50 - 5 = 45Weapon: Greatsword Melee -- Heavy Mod: 10 damage, -1 to hit LARGE SWARM Hit points: 92 - 5 = 87 Damage: 5 each time attacked

Sid ran, but the birds seemed to swarm tighter, diving at her head, whenever she tried to make for the side door she had propped open. She tripped as she attempted to get her bow up and went sprawling in the snow, throwing her arms up over her head in anticipation of many metallic bodies slamming into her… but the attack never came, only a clattering of more thrown feathers. Instead, there was a clang with the clatter, like something heavy hitting metal. When Sid lifted her head, it was to see a woman rushing towards her. Her hair stood out for the fro it made, all wild curls and defied anyone to hold them down, and her hips that went on for days. She couldn’t help staring, but it didn’t last for long, not with the shadows passing over them. “Hell yeah, I do!” She huffed as she got her legs under her, stumbling to push herself to her feet. “Did you see how many of them there are?” She shook the snow free of her bow, and then there was a flurry of swinging sword and blonde dreads, another clang of metal on metal. Relief flooded her and her shoulders slumped, seeing the very welcome form of her friend. “Rob! Jesus ********, its good to see you.” She huffed, unperturbed by his scolding. “Do I look like I’m trying to take them on alone? No! I was running the ******** away, thankyouverymuch.” Quote: Sid’s HP: 42 - 5 = 37 LARGE SWARM Hit points: 87 - 0 = 87

Mercy cocked an eyebrow at Rainbow Dash's staring, highly aware of why since she already knew she wasn't ugly or plain. It was just weird to have that kind of stare coming from someone of the same sex is all. When the other woman moved to get up, Mercy looked over towards the birds that were on their way towards them with a small head tilt. How was she going to kick some a** this time? She could feel the adrenaline starting to rush through her veins!~ It was amazing! "Well, lets get this s**t started then yeah?!" Mercy ran forward, hammer raised her hammer, only to squeak and trip when Rob arrived, falling face first into the snow just like she did with Math earlier. Damn it! He would arrive to save the girl before she could! To top it off she knew him! Well, poop. "You should have called for help sooner!" Rob wanted nothing more than to gather Sid in his arms, but there was a whole big flock of monster birds that said otherwise. "At least Mercy showed up, and she can kick some bird arse, but still!" He nodded in greeting toward the other woman. "Hey, Mercy." Standing his ground, he brandished the greatsword in both hands, waiting til one of the birds got close enough to hit. It was harrowing, this method of fighting, much moreso than fighting with a ranged weapon like Sid's bow. Even with the four foot long blade, he still had to wait until a target was in range, and that was far too close for his comfort. A bird dove for him and he swung, but the monster wasn't close enough to hit and the tip of the blade tinged metallically off the creature's body. "s**t. A little help here, please?" he said as the bird descended on him, slashing with its sharp-feathered wings. Mercy biffed it as she went to head off the birds and Sid had to hide her grin. The woman was tiny and had a giant hammer. Seeing her trip and eat snow was just… adorable, really. Rob didn’t do any better of course and she found herself rolling her eyes as she notched an arrow onto her bowstring. “Jeez, you two. You got those big a** weapons and you can’t hit anything?” She teased, drawing back and releasing. The arrow pinged off a bird and it wobbled off its flight path, prompting a grin at her two fellow Chosen. “Am I going to carry this fight on me own?” She teased, throwing up an arm to protect her face as feather flew at her. Ugh! Really?! Mercy picked herself up, a small blush forming on her cheeks before she threw her hammer at a bird in frustration, blinking when it actually managed to graze one. "Yes!~ Looks like I'll be swinging my big hammer accurately then~" she looked back and winked at Sid and Rob, picking her hammer up to ready for another swing. Frustrated as hell, Rob shoved the bird off him and swung at it quickly before it could get out of range of the greatsword. The creature managed to evade him and once more the tip of the blade tinged uselessly off the bird's metallic feathers. "s**t!" he swore loudly, stomping a foot. Either these things were getting smarter, or he was just getting tired. The bird dove at him again, this time flinging some of its toxic dung at him. The manure hit his shoulder, coming perilously close to hitting his face. He quickly scooped up some snow to remove it, then glowered at the bird. "I'll get you, you b*****d," he grumbled under his breath. Her partners took their turns swinging at the bird, but only Mercy seemed to have any success. “I think we’re going to need some training practice when we get back.” She chuckled, lips pulled into a smirk. Bracing herself, Sid pulled back another arrow and let it fly, her confidence rising as it hit another bird and the monster dropped like a stone. She might not be doing as much damage as the other two Chosen, but it was hard to argue with the consistency of her hits. Quote: Sid’s HP: 32 - 5 = 27 LARGE SWARM Hit points: 79 - 6 = 73

Rob was getting pissed. Mostly at himself, but at the stupid ******** birds too. He swung the greatsword, hitting a bird but only enough to hurt it, not kill it. Still, a hit was a hit at this point. "Yes!" He would take his victories where he could. The bird flew at him, shedding feathers and slicing into his coat with its metallic beak. With a growl he managed to shove it off of him. They weren't doing so well in this battle. Maybe it was time to get out of there, save their own skins. Had she known, Sid would have agreed with Rob's sentiment. They were fighting fiercely, sure, but the birds seemed to be steadily gaining on their upper hand. Her arrows hurt, she could tell that as she clipped another bird, but so did the feathers they flung at her. And those argueably hurt more. This fight had gone from terrifying, to kind of fun, to something that was steadily looking like a losing battle. Quote: Sid’s HP: 27 - 5 = 22 LARGE SWARM Hit points: 73 - 3 = 70
