Stage Summaries

Child - Young and full of energy, these young Kahikinans bustle about, learning from their elders and playing together in the waters of their hometowns. Not yet old enough to venture too far without their parents, they enjoy the fresh waters of adventure and the idea of the unknown.
Approximate Age: 7-10

Apprentice - Older and more mature than the children of Kahikina, these adolescents are busy learning and figuring out where their place in the world lies. What will they be when they get older? Where will they go as their lives mature? All of these questions and more shape the Apprentice and prepares them for their independent adult lives. While they have much more freedom than the children, still parents keep a wary eye on their apprentices and whatever wild ideas they may have.
Approximate Age: 13-16

Journeyman - Fully fledged adults of the world of Kahikina, these journeymen have already picked their trade of choice and can venture out into the world in full without supervision - whether they are personally ready or not is another story altogether. These Kahikinans are old enough to start their own families and to begin passing down their information and memories to their own children.
Approximate Age: 22-25

Master - Mature and refined, these members of society have proven themselves as masters of their professions, and are sought out for advice and guidance from other younger members of society. Usually donning the role of instructor, they will take apprentice and journeymen under their wings (or fins) and teach them trade secrets and other wisdoms they've picked up along their lives in Kahikina.
Approximate Age: 30-35

Extra Breeding Stages

Egg - Small and watched over with love, these little clutches of eggs hold all of the potential of life within them.

Infant - New to the world, infants watch the world with curious eyes. They are much too young to help themselves and must be watched over and cared for constantly, but they bring joy to the hearts of their family and community.
Approximate Age: < 1 year

Growth Requirements
[Updated 08.09.16]

Please note:
|| Requirements used for one stage cannot be used for another later stage. This also includes all RPs, solos, and events that were not used as requirements. They cannot be used for a later stage as it is considered a new chapter in that character's life.
|| Owners may only submit one character for growth at a time. Once that character's growth has been approved, they must wait two weeks before submitting a new request for another character. (This gives our artists time to work on art before the next growth rolls through.) This is not to be confused with a character's timer to grow (see bullet below).
|| A character's timer for their next growth does not begin until they receive their art for that stage. This is not to be confused with an owner's timer to submit for a different character's growth (see bullet above).

A Note on RPs and Solos
[Updated 08.09.16]

RPs
|| Completed RPs will have a 10 post minimum requirement per character to count for growth.
|| RPs cannot be added together to create one growth point (ex: two 5 post RPs will not equal a growth requirement)
|| RPs cannot be combined to form additional points. (ex: one 20 post RP will not count as two RPs)
|| Owners cannot RP more than one character combined in one post even if they are related or otherwise (ie: Character A and Character B cannot have one block of text to count for both of them. Character A's post should be clearly labeled as their post, and Character B's should be clearly labeled as their post.)

Solos
|| Solos (also known as journal entries) cannot include any other playable characters, even if owned by the same owner.
|| There is a minimum word count of 300 words for a Solo/Journal Entry to be counted towards your growth requirements. .
|| Solos longer than 300 can also be combined with others to be used as multiple points toward growth.
|| Solos shorter than 300 cannot be combined to create a whole point.

Professions/Careers

Every character in Kahikina ends up following a profession once they are of age (shown as career on the cert). This profession is something that benefits not only the individual, but also the society as a whole. While professions chosen do not effect the way a character grows, it does help owners build their character and what their daily lives look like, intended to be used when RPing and Soloing out their time in Kahikina.

Feel free to include solos of your chosen career, or include information about what your character does in RPs, apprentices can RP/solo learning their intended craft/profession. These are all things to assist owners and give some depth to the world of Kahikina!

|| Characters may choose from an infinite number of things to follow as a career path. Examples include things like teacher, weaver, potter, dancer, musician, trader, etc.
|| The only requirement is that it fits into the setting of Kahikina. (A rocket scientist would be a poor fit in a world filled with low level technology and a race that spends its time underwater!)
|| When a character reaches the end of their Apprentice stage, they will be required to include the profession of their choice in their growth form. The staff will look it over to be sure it is appropriate with the setting, and if there's nothing wrong you're all set!
|| If it does not fit into the world setting, owners will be contacted by staff to help better adjust their vision into the world.
