"He's hurt," a woman in shock cried out.

"They're all hurt," Rose replied with more than an ounce of patience, her expression managing kindness rather than the exasperation she was beginning to feel. "He'll be okay, I promise. Please, help him sit over there next to the lamp, and I promise, I'll be over there as soon as I can."

The woman seemed to not hear the songstress through her shock. "But he's bleeding!"

Standing, Rose picked up a bath towel and took the woman's shaking hand between her own, the cloth keeping them separate. "Sweetheart, I'm not a doctor. I'm doing the best I can. But if you wrap this around his arm, it will slow the bleeding -- "

"What if it's broken?" the other cut her off, her voice almost shrill.

" -- we'll handle it. I promise. I need you to take deep breaths, and help the gentleman sit. Talk to him, tell him about yourself, your favorite story - but keep talking until he can talk back, alright? Shock is serious, and you're both in it. Be strong, darling." She pushed the towel into the other's hands insistingly, having to ignore the stumbled protests as she returned to her work - trying to use a sewing kit to stitch together a gash over an elderly man's eye. There was little in the way of antiseptic, but he seemed to be a strong sort, making no sound of protest or pain at her efforts to stitch him closed; aside from a slight waver in his lips, the man was stoic and Rose was as swift as she could be.

Unfortunately, she only knew how to cross stitch and lace shoes, and it was the latter she was trying to emulate to close him up. "We're almost done, sir," she murmured softly to the man, who only flickered the barest hint of a smile in acknowledgement.

Tom sighed as he got back into the hotel after having rescued a few people. That was hard but at least he got a few of them out. However, there was another battle raging inside of the resort, and that was trying to get all of the wounded patched up long enough to be able to make it to an actual hospital with all the advances medical science could offer them to recover.

Tom noticed the singer that he had met in the Apollo dorms. Rose was it? Well, her name was unique enough he should remember it.

He went over to her quickly to see what she was doing. It seemed she was stitching him up. Not in a way that screamed ‘professional’ but none-the-less it would do. The man would probably have a scar either way. Since she was already tending to this man, he could tend to others, or at least try to. “You’re doing a fine job Rose. Sir she’ll have you stitched up soon.” He looked over the man to see if there was anything else that was serious that needed to be tended to.

It was at this point he really wished he had more than just a couple of first aid kits. It didn’t seem as though the patient had anything else and so he tended to the man with the hurt arm, checking it over. It didn’t seem broken, but it was better to be more cautious in a case like this than careless. Luckily though he had learned to keep some splints in first aid kits and on his person all the time, especially if he was going somewhere where they might be of use.

He really wished he had an x-ray though, or perhaps x-ray vision, but the man shouldn’t be moving his arm anyway. He looked at him and smiled at the woman. “Sir I’m a doctor and we’ll have to splint this up for now until we can get you to a hospital. We should be out of here soon enough.” He said reassuringly before setting the arm into the splint and making sure it was wrapped enough to stop the bleeding.

"Doctor," she greeted him with muted surprise, nodding briskly and returning her focus to finishing off the stitches. Giving the patient a gentle pat on the shoulder, she instructed gently, "Go get some water, and take it easy, okay?" Rose made sure the man could stand on his own and watched him make his way out of the makeshift triage before turning to find Tom.

She moved to his side with a bottle of water and a towel draped over her arm, lightly touching Tom's arm when he was done with the splint. "How are you holding out?" she asked him softly, looking over the man's face to make sure he wasn't outwardly injured. "I'm not a doctor like you, but I've got nimble fingers and I'm a fast learner -- I can assist you the best I can."

Tom gave her a quick smile before making sure that the splint would hold. “I’m fine though I wish we had more supplies. Soon enough we’ll have to start using whatever we can here once the first aid stuff runs out.” At least he could use this as a learning experience.

“I appreciate all the help I can get.” He replied before addressing the injured man and the woman again. “I’ve done the best I can for now, but make sure you don’t put any weight on it or whack it against something.” He smiled at his patient getting up and looking around some more and then giving a look to Rose. “I think you’ve done well so far. Some of these injuries aren’t too bad, but I’m not sure what exactly the effect could be from the wounds.”

He sighed, it would be best if he had some type of setup to where he had enough room to see each patient at a time. Like a coffee table or something. “If you could Rose, please help me clear the area a bit when we go to another patient. I know it’s crowded but it’s easier to address a wound if I have a bit of room.” He said, smiling weakly.

"We might already be there, doctor," Rose said with a small smile, "I've already brought out arms full of women's dresses to use as tethers and nets, silverware as an alarm system. But we are resourceful, if nothing else." The words were gentle, an encouragement to her follow Apollo Chosen; they were Chosen by the God of Creativity, Inspiration -- they could literally do anything they put their minds to.

She nodded singularly, gaze a little tired as it turned to those she had tried to help - and those she couldn't. "We can do our best, dear doctor, and nothing less." The songstress would not claim to be versed in everything, but she took what she knew to apply to the situation as seemed appropriate. When there were flying bags of sharp edges and toxic fecal deposits, sewing a man's head shut seemed like a perfectly acceptable thing to do.

Tom's suggestion made her face brighten, nodding with understanding. "With a partition, perhaps?" she offered up in question, shifting around a pile of luggage and using her booted foot to push it aside. "We could maybe make a sign up too, so we can see what names are still here -- make it easier for people to reconnect with lost friends and family. Even though it's been days," she thought briefly of the child she and Cas had saved, "there is just now order being restored." Rose picked up an armload of tarps and towels, folding them over and away from the area they were cleaning.

Tom felt the weight fall off of his shoulders a bit. He was glad that some had already taken the initiative and didn’t have to depend on his help as much. He may be a doctor but that didn’t mean he could do everything. He gave her a big smile. “Seems you guys are resourceful. It’s always nice to see people helping others in times of need with what they can get their hands on.”

He almost seemed to read her mind. “It’s a bit better in here than being up against those monsters at least. Let’s hope it will hold until the Birdemic ends. Hopefully we’ll get some more information about the attack once this is all over.” And perhaps he could get some information on the various wounds the birds could inflict so he could have a plan of action if they were to attack somewhere else.

He was very impressed by the other’s thinking. She seemed to be much more aware of the situation that he was. He would have to go out and get more experience. “I’ll help you set it up and here.” He said while digging through his pack and handing her a notepad and pen. “Hopefully it’s not too small, I should have probably packed my larger one, but I never go without if possible.” He said, moving some more things out of the way and grabbing a couple of chairs.

A faint chuckle escaped the songstress, accepting the notepad and pen from his belongings. "There is a comfort, I suppose, in believing that we were Chosen for a reason and that we are capable of greatness - even if it's making the most out of so very little." Putting the items aside, she grabbed some empty, abandoned luggage and stacked them until they were just over a few feet in height. "It's good you feel that way, Tom -- I'm torn between, with no real sense of where I should be." The confession was soft, if not a touch abashed. "I can only hope there's merit in being a Jill of Many Trades in this instance, being a Master of None."

Rose disappeared around a staircase and returned with a curtain draped over her arm, the edges frayed and torn from use. "Don't worry about the paper -- the hotel has many pads for personal notes and work pads." She set the curtains over the luggage, using the wraps and circular holders to wind it in place, fashioning a makeshift podium. "There we are -- but yes. We'll make it work." Retrieving the platter she had previously discarded, she put it on top of the podium, the notebook finding its place on top of that at last. In her neat, flowing script, she wrote 'Please Sign In' at the top before she resumed in helping the doctor set up his work space.

"I think I saw some hangers in one of the closets that weren't being used," she mused out loud as she grabbed a used rag, dropping it onto the floor and using her foot to clean up the floor a bit. They couldn't make it sterile, but they could show they cared. "If we hook them over the threaded remains of towels, or any other type of cloth -- we can make a functional partition. Unless someone didn't use the storage box I saw in the kitchen...however, there is one important thing I must ask."

Rose paused what she was doing, looking seriously at Tom. "Can I get you anything, like water, or a snack? We must take care of ourselves if we hope to help anyone else, I do believe. And once you get started, I have the feeling you're going to be very busy for quite some time."

Tom gave her an embarrassed smile as she took the notepad from him. Sometimes he felt slightly useless or at least redundant, even though a doctor anywhere would be a welcome thing. He looked at her. “A lot of people still aren’t sure what they want to do and I’m sure with being a chosen that’s going to be even harder right now.” He said with a chuckle as he started to set out supplies.

“I’m still not really sure why I was chosen by Apollo, but he seemed to see something in the both of us and I’m sure your lounge helps a lot of people, whether it be through showing their talents or letting them hear others.” He still wasn’t sure what he could do. He was still just trying to find a job to pay his bills. His parents were graciously paying for them right now but he didn’t want to be a burden on them.

He set out the supplies neatly, knowing that even though they could probably use other things for supplies he would have to be very careful about not wasting anything. He had a couple of bottles of disinfectant, wraps, and other things including some cartoon-themed stickers for the kids. They weren’t much, but he found that getting a fun band-aid usually calmed children down when they had to go and see the ‘scary’ doctor.

He got out of her way when she went to clean the floor a bit. It would be better than having to sit or stand in any of the dust or other debri at least. He heard her question and thought about it for a bit. “Water would be nice. And if you do find a snack that’s fine though don’t go crazy in trying to find one. And if it’s something like dried fish I can’t take it.” He said, giving her a small smile. The resort probably wouldn’t have anything like that, but he liked to be better safe than sorry. Too many allergic reactions during his residency made him extra cautious. “Also, and I’m sorry if I sound demanding, but if you could find a broom too I think that would be good. And maybe some gloves if possible. Don’t worry if you can’t find them though, it’s just if you find any. And… thanks.” He gave her a smile before starting to make the space more roomy.

"I don't think any of us can say for certain why we were Chosen, or why the certain God or Goddess that Chose us, did so," she agreed, her smile light at his compliment. "I don't know that what I do helps anyone, Doctor, but it makes me happy and that was a good enough reason for me to pursue it. You, on the other hand, have a profession that is altruistic and based in the knowledge you have. That, in and of itself, I believe to be remarkable." Rose gave him a reassuring smile, finishing up the cleaning of the area the best she could before again awaiting an answer to her askance.

The songstress bowed her head in acknowledgement, offering a soft, "It's the least I can do, Tom," before departing to retrieve the requested items.

It would be ten minutes until she returned, hefting a fair sized box that looked a bit too heavy for her to carry, though she was doing her damndest. Setting it down carefully against the wall, she rubbed her sore hands together and reached in, procuring a mug of water in one hand and a few bags in the other. "They had a purifier in the kitchen that still worked, so I got you some ice water and," her boot touched the box, "several bottles of room temperature water if ice isn't your thing. The rest can go to patients, or be used to clean, I suppose." She smiled with dimples, handing the mug and snacks over. "I found a child's size bag of Doritos, a package of peanut butter crackers and a roll of Oreos. Not exactly healthy, but the sugar should put some pep in your step. There's also a few packages of the crackers in the box if you have hungry patients, or hungry children."

When her hands were freed, she tucked another stray lock of hair behind her ear, looking around the area. "It looks like you're set up, Doctor. Shall I announce that you're open for business?" Her smile returned, though tired, attempting to encourage in the less than ideal situation.

SSBrosB
WHAT, you're plenty great, shh! You have the same amount of experience as a doctor as I have as a lounge singer. XD!

ALSO I figure we can wrap up in a post or two each? 8D

Tom had just finished setting up his little area and the partition by the time Rose came back and by the time he turned around she had managed to bring what seemed to be quite the heavy box. He felt like he should have asked her if she needed help, but considering that she didn’t ask him for it, he figured she was okay, but next time he would grab it instead. She seemed to be a bit sore and he was plenty fine.

He nodded and smiled at her before he went to the bag he had taken along with him and preceded to take a few things out, including some heating pads and some hand lotion. The latter he couldn’t use for himself, but it might be of some comfort to the people and perhaps some of the chosen, should they choose to use it, so they could focus on other things besides dry and cracking hands. He turned back to Rose.

“Thanks, looks like we might need it, we don’t want to be using dirty water in some wounds.” He wouldn’t feel right possibly putting what may have been water filled with rust into a cut. “Though hopefully we won’t need to use it for that purpose. I’ll take the ice water though, thank you.” He replied, grabbing it gently and putting it next to him when he would need it, and out of the way of any patients.

He then grabbed the peanut butter cracker pack. “Thanks, I’ll just take these, otherwise if we need to we can use the rest for the patients.” He was surprised at how well she was doing. If she had wanted to he would bet that she would have been a great doctor herself. He settled himself on his makeshift chair and nodded to her. “Go ahead, though make sure you say we can only take one at a time too. We don’t want them stampeding here all at once.” He said with a chuckle.

Lol XD Sorry for taking so long to get back to this and sure, we don't need to post a whole lot more. We can wrap it up here 3nodding

"It's no problem," she assured Tom, "and it's the least I can do." Rose hesitated for only a moment before she gave him another smile and a dip of her head. "Call for me if there's anything else I can do. Apollo watch over you."

Shifting out of the makeshift room, the songstress used the power in her voice to draw the attention of those gathered. "We've set up a doctor for those who are injured or in need of assistance. Please, line up here, and sign in -- we will take one at a time. Be patient, be kind; you will be seen." And as the patients began to do as instructed, she cast one last encouraging glance to Tom and disappeared to be out of the way...and perhaps find some rest for herself.

Just a wrap up! Thank you so much. qvq I'll pick up our other RP too shortly!

“Thank you Rose, you’ve helped me so much.” He said, giving her a grin after putting the finishing touches in his little area. He sighed and wished he had access to more equipment. “Apollo watch over you too.”

And as she left and the first patient entered the makeshift area he changed his demeanor and got to business helping the patient out. He hadn’t seen any really terrible injuries, at least compared to what he had seen while he had a residency at the hospital, but that didn’t mean he could let his guard down and do less than 100%.

Chrystali
And finished! Thanks for the rp!
