Appearance/age: He looks to be a young adult or late teen, though he is half the height of an average human. If he has been in the sun, his skin is dark with steady tan, when he has returned to the forest, his skin pales and reverts to the complexion of a Wolfrider or a Glider. He has long tapered eleven ears and four fingers in each hand, four toes on each foot.

Character personality/history/TL;DNR:Windkin was born of
Recognition between his mother Dewshine of the Woldriders, and the skinshaped Glider known as Tyldak. Neither had wanting the pairing, and Dewshine's lovemate Scouter pledged to raise the cub as though he were the sire.
Winkin was born in the woods of the Forbidden Grove, and was dubbed "little bumper" though as most Wolfriders do, he came to an adult name - Windkin.
All cubs were considered precious to the Wolfriders, and Windkin was no exception. In fact, he was with Glider blood that made the Kinseeker's pack a complete wheel. They had Wolfriders, they had Sunfolk like Leetah and Suntop, they had Skot and Krim to represent the go-backs, and with his mixed blood, he was part Glider.
Windkin spent his infancy tethered to his mother's waist, as he had a habit of floating pretty much all the time. And then Aroree reentered their lives. She was desperate, she told them all how horrible life under Winnowill had become. And then.... she spotted little Bumper floating about. She saw a chance to be free, to offer a trade. She kidnapped him and brought him to Winnowill. A new Glider to trade in exchange for her own freedom. It didn't go as well as she hoped, and the Wolfriders were understandably furious as they launched their rescue plan. They did save the cub, but to late. Winnowill twisted healer that she was, burned the "taint" of the wolf from his blood. Tyldak being a Glider was immortal until killed, and would age at an immortal's pace. Wolfriders, however, wed their blood to Wolves back in the time of Timmian, and grew strong from the wolf in their blood. But it made them mortal.No Wolfrider had ever died of old age, but in theory, they could. With the wolf burned from him, Bumper became an immortal like Tyldak, and lost all the strength that he gained from the Wolf. No longer could his nose rival any animal's in the forest, no longer were his eyes as sharp.
He was saved, and though they mourned what was done to him, they still loved the baby. He grew among the Wolfriders, but like Tyleet's cub Patch, he was aware that there were ways in which he could never measure up to the elves around him. Eventually, he and his parents - Dewshine and Scouter - moved to the Sun Village, where few elves had the wolfblood, where Dart had started a pack called the Jackelriders from the dark skinned immortal Sun Folk who wished to learn to fight ad protect. Windkin stayed there, though his parents couldn't. They took the long sleep, and even after, they returned to the woods. He yearned to go with them, but didn't want to be a burden on the pack. Among the Wolfriders, he was one of the weakest hunters, and the worst tracker. Among the Sunfolk, he was one of the strongest protectors, and they needed him, where he wasn't needed in the forest. So he stayed.
He had been with the Sunfolk for sometime when he met Tyldak for the first time. Tyldak and the Go-Back chief Khavi had come to the Sun Village to steal the small palace, the only connection they had to distant kin. Elf should never fight elf, should never kill elf. But they came and threatened to destroy the village if they did not get what they wanted. Since they attacked on birds, Windkin and the Preservers were instrumental in protecting the palace as they were the only ones on the side of the Sun Folk who could also fly.
Windkin took the little palace, to lead Khavi and Tyldak away. Tyldak got the palace and stood on spit of rock with it, thinking himself safe. Until Windkin poked his shoulder and he realized who this short dark skinned child must be. It was not good first impression. Windkin admitted that he had tried to think well of the man who was half the reason he was alive, but he couldn't abide anyone stealing the palace. They raced for it, fighting for procession. And then Khavi who flew without her harness astride the bird was betrayed by one of the two Go-Backs she had brought, and was thrown from the saddle.
Tyldak had a second to chose. Palace, son, or lovemate. He flew after Khavi without a thought, and saved her, shielding her as they landed together. He stopped her from trying to murder the Sun Folk's spiritual leader - Savah, the Mother of Memory - saying he was protecting Khavi from herself...
The Preservers did what they do best, they made "Wrapstuff" over the pair while Khavi was sheltered in Tyldak's wings. The Go-Back that hadn't betrayed Khavi was given procession of the palace and a choice. She chose to help the Sun folk and return the treasure. She became one of them for a time. Windkin was something of a hero, and though the Sun Folk being who they are they treated everyone as a hero and ally and family nothing changed with them, but something settled within Windkin. He had proved himself...to hismelf, and he had met his sire.
