Nokhoi was a mess after his run-in with Gael, his face as battered and bruised as his pride was. He'd been so sure that no one would challenge him over the ugly female and when he had...well...he'd not expected to be beaten. His father had been a great warrior. But what of him? Had he not inherited any of his late father's ability in battle? Was he going to be nothing but a ridiculed braak for the rest of his life?
He groaned in discomfort, the wounds on his face inflamed and crawling with flies - that only departed for a few seconds when he shook his head. They itched badly and his mother had fussed over him for ages, warning him against aggravating them.
If only she knew the truth of how they had happened...
With another --louder-- groan, he pulled himself up onto his paws and glanced around him. The horde did not wait for anyone and already they had set off, leaving him behind as if he were little more than a slave. Still, better to lag behind for a day or two than face judgement and mockery from his peers at his loss. It was, in the end, the lesser of two evils.
Stretching stiff joins, he began a slow pace across the wind-swept plains.

The female had wandered around dolefully. She wasn't even sure why she had felt this way since normally she didn't feel as such. The plains were peaceful and wide open. Not having run into another predator in a while until she noticed something in the distance. Pushing away the strange sorrow she had felt she replaced it with curiosity as she headed towards the thing in the distance.
As the green female got closer she noticed that it was another lion, male even. He looked wounded, his face marked up. Must have been at least a good fight from the way the markings were but about what she had no clue nor did she really care to know.
"Hey." words tumbled out of her mouth as she drew close but not too close. "Hope you left a few good marks on whatever or whatever did that to your face." small rumbles of chuckles coming from her.

Nokhoi's head snapped around at the voice directed towards him and curled a lip, baring a fang. The expression caused a flash of pain that had his growl dying out and a sobered look returning to his muzzle. The female spoke in the common tongue and he didn't think he recognised her...though, of course, he could have been mistaken.
"You're not of the horde," he replied grumpily.
And, quickly, he decided to shoot out a lie, seeing as she was not one of theirs and would not know either way.
"The other one is dead."
With a snort, he turned to face her fully and narrowed his gaze, "you're brave wandering these lands alone."

The female glowered at him, giving him the smallest form of teeth at the other when he had bared his fangs at her. It did bring her some semblance of joy to see pain flash across his face however when he did.
"I'm not of anything." The green female responded to him. "Dead, well that's good I guess."
When she said she was brave she scoffed at him and gave him a dead eyed look. "Brave to wander alone? Are you implying something there?" A growl rising in her throat.

"I might be," he snapped, his tone almost childish as he rolled pebbles beneath his paws and strengthened his stance, "my people might want to recruit you. If they want you, they'll have you." That, at least, was a truth. She had a pelt colour that might have raised a few eyebrows but the markings upon it would have been of interest. Nergui were obsessed with markings like hers; ones that looked like they could hide meanings to prophecy and legend.
"The green pelt is unfortunate. If you'd been a more agreeable shade you might have become the mate of a mighty warlord." He huffed with a touch of mockery, "you might be lucky enough to attract the eye of one of our warriors, though."

Her fur bristled and instantly she was on the defensive but her stance said that at any moment she could go on the offensive. No one would have her without her permission and this male would learn very quickly how volatile she was.
"My pelt is just fine." She snarled out at the other. "I definitely don't want to be a mate of your mighty warlord" She mocked back at him. Her rational brain said don't attack, the fight part of her brain said go for it.

A little warning bell went off in Nokhoi's head at that moment. Perhaps, it said, you shouldn't piss off this lioness. Unfortunately, this young lion very rarely listened to good advice, going against commonsense in order to shoot off his mouth. His bad mood was surely about to get a lot worse and he was not at all prepared for it.
"What you want doesn't matter to my kind," he replied, "besides, it would be a great honour. What else would you do with your life? Wander alone until you grow old and die?" He gave a gruff laugh, "I'll be heading back to meet them, soon. I'd even be willing to accompany you there, if you like."

She didn't even hear the last part as she lunged at him, claws extended to rake across his face. It was completely unprovoked but the female didn't like anyone telling her what to do or that any of her choices didn't matter. Honor or not she was not going to let some smug lion tell her what she wanted didn't matter. This male was going to go back to his pride wounded by a female. Maybe he'd learn to use his brain a bit better.

To say that her attack was unexpected would have been a huge understatement. The green-pelted female was on him before he even realised what had happened and the pain came a moment later.
He screamed in agony, the barely healing wounds torn upon once again, sending blood streaming into his eyes and nose and mouth. He spat, backing away hastily, blinking through the temporary blindness to try and locate her.
A paw lashed out - more to keep her away than anything - followed up by an angry roar.
"You'll regret that!" But his threat, at that moment in time, seemed utterly empty.

As the paw went out she felt it rake across her side as she had gone in for the attack and then darted away. Regret? He should have regretted talking to her that way. Did he not know how females worked? Maybe he didn't have enough experience in that department.
"I don't think I'll regret anything." She yowled at him, "Please, show me how much I'll regret it. I love a good fight."
Her eyes were wild and full of enjoyment in this dance they were doing. Fighting was the one thing that got her the most excitement in the day. Fighting with anything. She reveled in the pain she could see in ones eyes and the blood. Was she evil? She didn't think she was, just a bit... off.
She lunged at him again, wanting to pin the male under her. She was hoping for it but he was larger than her.

Nokhoi had little experience in anything. He'd been ignored by his mother and left to admire a father who had died before he had been born. Desperate to prove himself a lion of greatness he had, instead, gone the other way and become a laughing stock for most. It was highly unlikely he would ever reach the lofty heights his father had once climbed.
He snarled, red froth covering his lips and teeth.
As the female lunged for him he gave another warning roar - ducking his head to avoid it getting any further damage from tooth or claw. She collided with his shoulders, sending him reeling to the side and, in an attempt to get free of her, reared up onto his hind legs to throw her off.
If he'd been as good in battle as he had thought, he would have realised that doing so had left him vulnerable to being knocked straight to the ground. At the moment, however, he thought himself smart and victorious.

She didn't go for the open belly like she could have. Instead after their tangle of claws she pushed away from him and rolled. She actually rolled away at the end. She could have pinned him done anything to him but she stopped. Why?
"You leave yourself exposed." She growled out as she started to come to her senses, she stood up, still bristling. "If you try to take me back to wherever you come from, I will leave you broken. Don't try."
She was going to leave, irritated she needed to go. "Try to pick fights with others you can win against."
Curare was being rather nice and giving him a chance to get away without being buried. "I'm leaving, if you follow me, I'll blind you."Kimaria I think we can finish this up.

Snarling madly, the lion twisted back onto all fours, stabilising himself with a few staggered steps to the side. His fury flared as vibrant as the sun at her words and for a moment it looked like he would disregard her warning and throw himself at her.
But the little voice of warning going off in his head stilled his forward momentum and gave him pause.
Could she...?
He watched her for a moment, her threat hanging in the air and - as she walked away in all her confident glory - Nokhoi lowered his hindquarters into a sit. Perhaps, for once, he ought to learn from his mistakes. Perhaps his mother was right. He did need help - especially if he'd been beaten by some smug rogue female. And, though he seethed to realise it, he had been beaten, his face left in tatters once more.
