I don't... I don't know what nonsense I just witnessed. I mean, I know you and Mel have come across some animals, but I DIDN'T KNOW. Well, unfortunately, you hear the ground crumble beneath you as a pit fall has you sliding down into a dungeon. As you land, you look up to see a massive crystal blue pool. I'll, uh, let you go from there.

Living Eternally

~Rowan

"Darkness, light. Justice, Corruption. The line's been blurred so much recently... that I don't know what to believe in anymore..."

Their journey had begun in the afternoon, just after lunch. Ever since the upgrade in technology it had become much easier for everyone to keep track of the day and prepare things accordingly. There was no more divination magic or sun dials to try and figure out what time of day it was. Honestly, the convenience was more than welcome on Rowan's part. His and Blake's past adventures had been plagued with questionable decisions, lateness, and an inability to figure out when darkness would hit. Now they could adjust their plans accordingly and prepare for nightfall, when the most dangerous of creatures came out to fight. Not like it matters whether we fight in the dark or the light anymore. Ever since I gained that ability... I've been able to sense everything around me no matter how well it hides. This sixth sense thing is honestly kind of bothersome... Rowan thought to himself, feeling the small creatures running around in the forest trying to avoid the two adventurers. It was great for combat... but it put him needlessly on edge most of the time.

"I don't see why Natalia's become so clingy as of late. Before we came here she kept her distance from me and mostly clung to you. Every morning we'd have to pry her off of you. Now it's the other way around. It's kind of irritating. I don't see how you dealt with it for so long." Rowan complained, not sure how to approach the subject of Natalia's new... affectionate attitude. "Either way, she's at least taking good care of Lucy. I can't really complain too much when that's the case..." Rowan stated, not sure how to really react to the fact that he could live in the same household as his sister once again. She was still too young to understand the man had died once before... and had simply come to the conclusion that he was away at work for a long time. It was moments like these that he was honestly quite thankful that his appearance had remained fairly similar after Blake had brought him back to life. "Thanks... for taking care of her..." Rowan stated, not really sure how to respond to the current feeling welling up inside of him. Lucy always made him act differently whenever she was mentioned or thought of.

After a while the two of them came across a backpack, its contents torn apart with the exception of some rations that were left behind. Walking over to it, Rowan simply picked up the bag and stared at it for a couple of moments, quietly observing the contents that had been destroyed. "I guess bandits didn't get the memo that the world's changed a bit too much to continue these stunts. Out here in the forest isn't even safe when even Terrans can walk around with firearms..." Rowan stated, sighting a bit as he picked up the trail rations. "I don't think Lucy's ever tried this stuff. She's been pretty pampered all of her life, so it'll definitely be something of a souvenir for her." Rowan stated in a rather calm tone. For their family situation, they were eating luxuriously every night and had just about any food they could think of at their beck and call. Some lousy trail rations paled completely to what they normally ate. "Let's see if we can catch up to those bandits before they off this guy."

Congratulations! You've made a low level find! It's a bag of trail rations!

Not long after entering the forest do you see an abandoned backpack leaning up against a big tree. It's open, its contents spread out, and you can easily see a bag of trail rations for display. You find nothing else of real use or value in the bag.

Well, the day was starting to seem like quite an easy one. It did not take Rowan long to find a dirt trail that was hidden away on the path. While he did not see any bandit tracks, this seemed like a frequently walked path. that meant that there was a good possibility of it leading to some sort of long-term encampment. Basically a bandit camp. Rowan thought to himself, sighing a little bit as he and Blake pressed onward. There was some movement in his backpack that caused the man to pause for a moment or two. Taking some time to look into it, he discovered that Argent had shrunk in size and decided to travel along with the two of them. "I get that you missed me but... isn't this a bit clingy of you?" He asked the albino wyvern. The creature simply chirped due to its small vocal cords, trying to let Blake know that it was there as well. She did not have mental link with it, so she could not hear whatever words it was speaking to Rowan whenever it made sounds or stirring.

Rowan quietly sighed and turned towards Blake. "She says she wants you to hold her and feed her some food whenever we set up for camp. She says she want you to baby her like you always do. Just how much have you been babying her since I disappeared?" Rowan stated, slight irritation appearing in his face as he contemplated whether having Argent watch over Blake or not was a good idea. Their mental link had been entirely severed due to the distance they were from one another.... but if he had known this was the result of Blake taking care of her then he would have come back home much sooner than he had. With another sight, the man put the backpack over his shoulder and decided to start following the trail once again. The trail was not that narrow, so it was pretty easy for the two of them to follow. Argent, meanwhile, was simply staring at Blake with her head just barely poking out of Rowan's backpack. She had mostly kept out of the skies since The Moment happened, and was used to riding around in purses and backpacks like some pet dog.

"Ugh..." It was the only thing that escaped him as he peered through the pushes at the plethora of bandits, having found their camp thanks to the small trail that the two of them had followed. "Do we really have to contribute to society and perform good deeds right now? This seems like.... a waste of time." Rowan muttered, having lost all interest seeing the large amount of ants that were skittering about trying to distribute food and wealth among each other. While Rowan did not feel like he could not handle them all... their presence did make him think that his time would be better spent searching for the secrets behind the Armament he had found months ago. Why do I have to have such a softie for a Mage? She really makes all of this way too difficult... Rowan thought to himself, standing up and stretching slightly before turning towards Blake. "You can help out if you want... but these guys literally can't scratch me." He stated to her, disappearing in the fissure that has come to be known as him teleporting.

It was then that he reappeared in front of one bandit, close-lining him in a spin before disappearing once again using the boots. As the man flipped and fell onto his back, another man was grabbed and thrown a couple feet into the air before landing on some crates. Quickly, the bandits became alerted as they realized something was attacking them. One of the female bandits had picked up a spear when Rowan had suddenly appeared in front of her, driving his open palm right into her stomach and knocking all of the wind out of her as she hurtled into a tree. The only difficult thing about fighting all these people was that Rowan had to hold back from killing them. He could tell that the people he had attacked so far had systematically taken an increased amount of damage from the fight. Morals are just a burden... He thought to himself, disappearing as one man tried to cut him and half and reappearing with a roundhouse to the man's face. Hurtling through the air, he crashed into several other bandits from the sheer force he was knocked back with.

"It's unfortunate that you have to be the first 'normal' people to face this me. I won't be going easy on you, so I expect you all to have the same courtesy towards me." Rowan announced, planting his feet on the ground much like runners do before they start their dashes. In a split second he blurred from the force of his movement, destroying the ground beneath him as he flung himself amidst the group of bandits. Members started flying everywhere with shrieks and shouts, causing quite a bit of a ruckus as he began his real assault. Gram had truly made him into quite the fearsome combatant. Meanwhile, the bandit leader had finally taken notice of the commotion going on above ground and had come out of her interrogation room. Looking around, she saw the devastation that was going on due to Blake's Knight. Seeing the strength he displayed, she decided it was best to try and find the source of his mana rather than fighting him directly. Thus, she began to hunt for the little Mage hiding somewhere around the camp.

Look out! It's a medium level dungeon! Going through the dungeon will take an hour but will yield very high level treasure!

As you head down the trail, you see a few tents and a small shack. There are several bandits strewn about, some chilling and some guarding. Near the shack is a trap door that leads underground where the leader of the camp has some bloke hostage, asking about money. Defeating her will gain you the shawl she's wearing, one of cold resist.

▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱ Blake was walking behind Rowan, her hands clasped behind her back. The sun was out, so despite the temperature it was pretty nice. Honestly, just being able to be outside with him like this was nice in its own right. "Yeeah, it's definitely annoying," Blake admitted to the inquiry. Natalia's talent for being a nuisance had only inclined along with the half elf's popularity. She even went so far as to post up pictures of her in her sleep... Between Lucy and Rowan nearly sacrificing himself for the dragon kin's very existence, there were things that probably held some leverage as far as how clingy she'd been. "I can only guess that she's grateful and bad at showing it. Or maybe too comfortable... She is pretty attached to Lucy, though. It's cute." One of her favorite things was seeing those two in the middle of something whether it be mindless conversation or some stupid game that Nat had rigged for one of them to win. It was nice to have her around, though she never really knew how to explain what happened to her brother, so the topic went unanswered for her for some time. It all kinda ended up working out in its own weird way. Blake couldn't help but smile a little. "Of course. I'm happy to, wanted to, really." She was honestly surprised when Rowan thanked her but also understood how much his sister meant to him. It was nice to know that the two of them were under one roof again.

It didn't take very long for them to find something, an open bag with the only surviving item being food. That ruled out an animal attack. Rowan was on the same page, mentioning bandits not having caught up with the times. To be fair, not everyone had. Things had changed so drastically so quickly, it was even difficult for Blake to keep up at times. Her limited use of the smartphone in her pocked was proof enough of that. If there was one thing Natalia had over others, it was her ability to adapt. On the other hand, the magus was still attempting to get used to the type of food they had access to. "Yeah, sounds good. We probably have some time before that if we're lucky." Given that the trail rations were even there, whatever had happened probably wasn't long ago. Otherwise, there would have been nothing left behind. Not too much long later did they find the trail that would lead directly to their hide out. It was all very... obvious, wasn't it? On the bright side, things seemed to be working out rather decently.

When Rowan brought up being clingy again, she shot a curious look over to see that he was focused on something in his backpack before a familiar chirping sound came from it. Oh geez, I thought he was talking about me. It's just Argent. It was hard not to laugh at both herself and the now small creature who'd sneaked her way into Rowan's bag. "Heheh, hey there. How'd you get this far without being noticed, hmm?" Blake liked the wyvern. The poor thing didn't seem to know what to do after the Moment and the Knight's disappearance. They were bonded, something her dad was quite envious of, and he explained the situation to her once before. "Ahh, well, I wouldn't call it babying..." the blonde started with a guilty smile, looking away from both Rowan and Argent. Though she did definitely treat the wyvern more like a pet than he probably would have approved. "Wait- was that her term or yous?" Luckily, he didn't push the matter much further before heading forward.

"Yeah, sorry. Contributing to society is kind of my bag," the girl joked. Rowan was expectedly and understandably exasperated when the two of them came upon a little bandit camp. Blake almost felt bad for them. They didn't really stand much of a chance. This was probably some sort of bad karma for even participating in these sorts of activities, though. "Eh, I haven't gotten to do this in a while, so count me in." The three astral hounds she summoned kept to the outskirts of the camp, Blake making sure they didn't end up in Rowan's way. Unfortunately, her bow was out of the question. Arrows really didn't do nonlethal damage, after all. That wasn't necessarily a problem. It just meant that her participation would be indirect. At least, that was Blake's thought when her Knight began tearing up the ground and the rest of the camp with it. A faint presence of mana behind her said otherwise. Instinctively, she moved with just enough time to dodge a sword slash from a lean woman in light armor and scarf wrapped over her head... or was it a shawl? Either way, there was a faint amount of magical energy coming off the garment. It seemed to have some property attached to it.

"That's disappointing. You'd think the only use of a Mage like you would be to fuel that powerhouse taking down all my men." She grinned and rested her blade on her shoulder. "Looks like you'll make a pretty trophy, too." There wouldn't be much time before that guy had finished working over her men, and she'd definitely have to take him down a notch if they were going to stand a chance. The blonde fae in front of her was the only way to do that. Without another word, she charged forward.

"Sorry but my schedule's kind of full up." As the bandit leader rushed her target, the only thing that met her body was steel. The first beam plowed into her gut, the second, her shoulder, and the last her temple. "You'll have to contact my manager to book an appointment." It felt like kind of a waste. Blake had been training a lot when it came to one-on-one combat, but there would be no way Natalia would forgive her if she came home with another scar. The one she had was hard enough to cover up, and the dragon kin complained every time it needed to be done for a shoot. It was best not to let anyone close enough to take the chance. The force and position of the third beam was enough to knock her out, and Blake hoped that was all. Although... she was most certainly going to wake up with a concussion. I really shouldn't feel bad for her, though. This could have went a lot worse. Stepping forward, she couldn't help but wonder about the possible enchantment of the woven cloth. I'd feel kinda bad if I just took it, but I really wanna know what it does. Magical items are too interesting... Clothing that could resist certain elements, could let the wielder teleport... stuff like that was a little too tempting to simply pass up. With a pained sigh, she reached out with a pale hand and freed the shawl from its delinquent keeper, putting it in her bag. Once things quieted down, Blake walked up to Rowan, keeping an eye out for anything useful or of concern, though nothing really stood out from what she could tell. "Find anything?"

"If you focus too much on what could go wrong, you'll lose sight of what'll go right." ▱▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱▰

"Just this sniveling idiot." Rowan responded to Blake, pulling a man out from the cellar and tossing him towards her. Quickly, he destroyed the ropes that were binding them by simply using his clawed hands. "Get out of here. And stay out of the forest if you're too weak to fight off a couple of bandits!" Rowan called out after the man as he began to make a mad dash out of the encampment. "I swear... Some idiots think they can just walk into this forest and do whatever they want without fear of the consequences. There's a reason that Carmillion makes you go through paperwork to even enter danger zones like this." Rowan stated, sighing a little bit as he looked at his clawed hand. This time he had not killed anyway, only seriously maiming a few of the bandits. Would he always have that kind of self control though? The woman that had been knocked into the tree had taken some rather heavy damage, just before the man had decided to attack a bit more lightly when fighting the other bandits. Perhaps his new body was not so ideal in regards to fighting common people as he had hoped.

"I'm guessing that you're stealing that?" Rowan asked, referring to the shawl that his Mage had pilfered from the defeated bandit woman. The man was always aware of what was happening on the battlefield, so noticing her thievery was rather simple. Honestly, he did not know what to think of it. "Looks like the goody-too-shoes is growing up a little bit. I can't say I mind the change in attitude though. It's... appealing." Rowan stated, enjoying the thought of Blake toughening up a little bit as opposed to her flower-child attitude when it came to fighting. Maybe spending some time with Natalia had caused her to evolve into a more mature kind of person. "Either way, I guess it's some sort of justice in a sense. They probably stole that from some traveler they killed, so it's only right that it gets stolen from then in return. Just don't pass on that curse and get it stolen from you the same way." Rowan commented, trying to mess with his Mage a bit by implying that she might get beaten up somewhere down the line and forfeit her magical items just as the bandit had to.

Once he had finished securing the area, he began to lead Blake back to the familiar areas of the forest. While most of the terrain had shifted around from the initial fusion with Earth, the forest was still identifiable, with certain landmarks showing ways to traverse the forest. Looking back at Blake, Rowan could not help but smile to himself a little bit. He did not know why, but her presence was rather soothing to him... something that just made him feel like he was not some evil monster like most people made him out to be. Being here in the forest... it really made him feel at peace with a lot of things in life. Maybe this is what it means to be content. Rowan thought to himself, stumbling into what appeared to be a small battlefield. Well, it was the aftermath of one at least. Something had fought in the area they had just stumbled upon, and there were various tracks and items strewn about that would lead one to believe that such was the case. "I really don't feel like dealing with another bandit camp... You think we should just ignore this?" Rowan commented, not really wanting to ignore the tracks but complaining about having to fight again.

Walking through the forest, the two of them eventually came across a strange sight. For most, it would seem like the forest was continuing as normal, but Rowan could tell that there was something off about the area due to his sixth sense. Staring forward, it seemed as if the forest was repeating itself over and over again. There were a few landmarks and trees that looked very familiar to the forest close to the entrance from Carmillion. That means that there's some sort of magic... Putting his hand forward, he could tell that he could move through whatever it was. What did that entail though? Would he suddenly appear at the beginning of the forest and lose all the progress the two of them had made. Sighing slightly, the man pulled his arm back and contemplated what to do now that they had met a natural barrier in their progression. Using Nightslayer was an option... but could it really do much against something like this? Was it even magic to begin with? It was definitely not an illusion or anything of the sort. Overall, Rowan could tell the whole situation was rather troublesome.

After waiting a few moments, Rowan noticed a strange sensation coming from his backpack. Reaching into the pack, he pulled out a glowing golden dagger that was emitting a blindingly bright light. Confused, Rowan simply held onto it as it glowed brighter and brighter, enveloping him and Blake in its light before suddenly dispersing. The two of them were definitely still in the same area of forest... but there was an entirely new sight set before them. It was a glorious mountain that reached beyond the clouds, a single mountain that seemed to fade from a golden color to bright, white marble. Just seeing the mountain made Rowan realize that, whatever it was, it had been intentionally created, most likely through magic. Stone, marble, whatever it was composed of could not have been natural in the slightest. In fact... the gold color towards the peak seemed to match the golden color of the dagger that was still glowing lightly. "Well.... I guess we've made it to... wherever we were going." Rowan stated, not really sure what to say in this current situation. Just how was he supposed to respond to this mountain?

Turning to Blake, the man sighed before setting down his backpack. "We'll take a small break, just an hour. We need to rest up if we're going to be going into unfamiliar territory." Rowan stated, pulling out some flint and steel along with some materials to start a fire. "I found out after I came back that my fire's a bit too powerful to make us a campfire now." He stated, not really wanting to elaborate how he came across that little bit of information. Once the fire was started, he pulled out a little bit of food and began to warm it over the makeshift campfire. "So... is this everything you hoped it would be? Me being back... that is. I mean, we're going out into the woods immediately, so it can't really be that great of a time, right?" Rowan mused, not really sure what the two of them could talk about given the gap of time that they were apart. It was not too long for them to need to "catch up" with each other... but at the same time it felt like a large chunk of time they could have spent together had been utterly destroyed.

▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱▰▱ She had to agree with Rowan. The entire point of filling out paperwork before entering the forests was to ensure that people were ready and willing to take care of themselves out here. Not only were there questionable folk that took refuge outside the kingdom, but there were all sorts of creatures that saw humanoid beings as prey or even playthings. Between giant spiders, undead, dragons, and literal flying snakes, it was hard to gauge what exactly one would run into on a trip. Going out of the kingdom unprepared could mean certain death. Blake sighed and crossed her arms as the freed man took off in the direction of the border. "It's not like it isn't common knowledge that this area is dangerous. You can't just go backpacking and expect nothing bad to happen." That guy had honestly just painted a giant target on his back. It reminded her of that old man that didn't live too far outside the city. She immediately went rigid when Rowan turned his attention to her.

"N- not necessarily. It's for research purposes, mostly. This thing's oozing mana, after all." Her arms remained crossed as she turned to look at him. Figures. I had a feeling he'd say something like this if he noticed. Blake was hoping he hadn't in all honesty. Embarrassed, she was attempting to piece together some half-hearted defense when he threw her off further with a compliment out of almost nowhere. "Hey, now. You'll jinx me talking about curses like that, you know! But don't worry. I don't plan on it." The only curse Blake was sure she had was the one that destroyed her luck in battle. That was how she had looked at it. Thankfully, the mage had improved quite a bit since regularly sparring and training. Rowan was probably right in that the item had been stolen in the first place. Granted, a questionable deed was most certainly not done right by another; however, the possibility of that had already crossed her mind. Either way, they'd probably need to be moving soon if the two of them planned to gain any ground before night hit.

She really wasn't sure what they were looking for. Rowan seemed to want to find out more about the Armament he had come by when he'd gone into the forests with Alistair. Blake remembered the man saying something cryptic when after coming back from the excursion. At the time, she hadn't really gotten what he meant, but things had certainly changed since. Despite being curious about the small weapon, the mage had held back all desire to ask him about it. It was the phrasing that Rowan had chosen at the time that kept her from prying as she normally would. Lost in thought, Blake hadn't noticed the change in scenery until Rowan stopped and asked about. She blinked a moment before looking around. Something had definitely happened here, but there wasn't much in terms of bodies or anything like that. "I won't lie; it's a little weird, but we probably shouldn't just ignore this." It beat walking around aimlessly at the very least.

After some time, there was some weird feeling in the air that she couldn't shake. It was almost like mana... just floating around like dust particles. The presence was so low-key that it had taken some time to notice. Rowan must have caught on to something, too, for he'd stopped. The scenery looked a little familiar, almost like they'd backtracked rather than kept moving forward. "This is... weird..." the half elf murmured, pulling up bright red scarf up over her chin. Things only got weirder from there when Rowan reached into his backpack and pulled out the Armament in question. It was shining a brilliant light that only grew brighter, the light swallowing the two of them before it scattered away and revealed something magnificent. A huge mountain reached into the sky, one that went from a gold to solid white. The scene was nothing like Blake had ever seen before, her eyes lighting up as it was revealed to them. The forever-snowing mountains near Yuki no Okoku almost paled in comparison. "I... I would guess so. There's not much else to take away from what just happened. It's kinda crazy, though." And really pretty.

"A break sounds like a plan," the young woman agreed to Rowan's suggestion. With the mention of a break, rubbed at her thighs. It had been some time since she'd even consider walking this much in one day. While she certainly hadn't gotten lazy, her body wasn't quite as used to this as she would have preferred. With one more look at the mountain the two of them were about to tackle, Blake turned to see a rather curious sight. Normally, her Knight would simply use the flames at his command to light them a fire, but he seemed to be doing things the old-fashioned way. At the inquisitive tilt of her head, he explained that his fire wasn't really fit for that sort of thing anymore. "Really? Well, it's not like we can't make one without it. We were simple folk once," she stated with an amused tone. She sank down to the ground when the fire got going. The warmth was nice. For a moment, she simply sat there and closed her eyes, enjoying the feeling of the heat from the flames. "Hmm? Heh, of course it is. I'm having fun. It doesn't really matter where or what, I'm just glad I can spend time with you again. You might not believe this, but I missed you." Blake spoke through a smile. Pulling her knees to her chest, she looked up at him. Just being able to see him again like this made her happy. It was really starting to seem like that alone would not be possible. "Anyway, it's nice out here, so I can't really complain if I wanted to. Getting away from the city is kind of liberating. Both of them. Besides, this is important, so there's no really getting around it."
