Personality:
- Yata Garasu is someone who enjoys life. He always tries to see the best of every bad situation, though he doesn't always succeed. He possesses a very protective nature, and will do his best to make sure everyone he knows is safe. If one of them is in danger, he will risk himself to go out and save them. Yata is very driven by his goal and is always looking for ways to improve himself and get stronger, though he is never willing to forsake the DWMA and become a Kishin.
History:
- Yata comes from a lineage of meisters, all of which attended the DWMA. His father met his mother while they were both attending the academy and got married soon after they graduated. His sister was born first, and graduated long before Yata enrolled in the DWMA. She is currently out touring the world on an assignment by Lord Death.
Yata never could find a suitable weapon partner during his first year at the DWMA, which was unusual among the "E.A.T." class. His preferred fighting style was hand-to-hand combat due to his ability to channel his wavelength. Something that was rare for someone of is age. He wanted to hone that ability as much as he could to perfect it and be far ahead of his peers. However, such a fighting style was not easy when it came to having a weapon partner. Yata had not yet learned how to properly control his wavelength and channeling it to attack often resulted in his wavelength going haywire while being channeled, injuring his weapon partner as well.
Yata gave up on finding a weapon partner and instead became a solo-meister. He focused hard to train his soul wavelength and soon discovered that he could also push his wavelength into inorganic solids instead of just other people. In doing so he could manipulate the material. This gave him a type of weapon to use without needing a proper partner.
After moving up to his second year, he got into a fight with another student who had been picking on him. The other student brought his weapon partner. As expected, Yata lost the duel, but afterward the spectating teacher of the scuffle pulled Yata asside to ask him why he refused to partner with a weapon. This teacher was none other than the infamous Professor Stein. After hearing Yata's reasoning, Stein offered to help Yata train so that he could keep up with partnered students and didn't fall behind.
For months, Yata and Stein met after school and trained to hone Yata's wavelength to incredible levels. During this time, Yata mastered control over his wavelength and even learned how to properly use his Alchemy wavelength ability. Stein instructed Yata to work on his durability whenever they weren't training after school so that he could stand alone in a fight without having to worry about getting hurt and being unable to continue. Stein even taught Yata new ways to use his wavelength; Soul Thread Sutures and Experimental Ectoplasm.
Yata continued to train on his own after Stein told him that he didn't have anything else to teach him. However, Yata's training with Stein did allow him to keep up with and even surpass most of the other students in his class. Even in duels between himself and a meister-weapon pair he could easily match them in terms of both skill and overall power. A majorty of duels he participated in that year ended in Yata's victory. And, among all the hours of training and the lectures during school, Yata developed a respect for Stein. He made his goal to surpass him and show him that all the training they did wasn't wasted.
Yata graduated a grade early as a 3-star meister despite his lack of a weapon partner. He took on various missions by himself in order to push his limits. Lord Death took note of this and offered Yata a mission that would require him to be out of the city for almost a year, but it would send Yata to a dangerous part of the world that cost many meisters their lives in the past. He told Yata that if he really wanted to test himself and see the full extent of his abilities he could take the mission without a team to back him up. Yata accepted.
The mission was to exterminate a nest of Kishin Eggs hiding out in a place that the rest of the world had agreed to call the Gate to Hell. It was a large desert where the temperatures reached around 150 degrees during the day. Kishin Eggs gathered there during the night to burrow into the ground and rest, collecting souls during the day to bring back and split amongst the group. There was a rumor that they were all nearing full Kishin status. Yata took note of this and set off to find the nest in the daylight, then return when night fell to take on the monsters.

----Abilities and Techniques Information----
- Wavelength Meister: Soul Mastery
- This is the ability that earned Yata his name around the DWMA: The Wavelength Meister. To put it simply, this ability is a gateway ability that allows for the use of various different applications of his own wavelength by resonating with his own soul. After so spending so much time fighting using that method rather than working with a weapon partner, Yata has expanded the use of his self resonance immensely. The actual ability that he gains specifically from this slot is the mastery over his own soul, able to regulate the amount of wavelength he uses at a time. The shape of Yata's soul is that of a round sphere adorning a beak, two wings, and three appendages that don't have a real shape. However, if a character knows about Japanese mythology, they can easily identify the appendages as legs, as per the myth of Yata Garasu. The various techniques that stem from this ability are listed below.
- - Soul Purge: The first ability that Yata learned by resonating with himself, the Soul Purge technique is an attack in which a meister channels their wavelength without the use of a weapon in order to attack their opponent and drive their wavelength into their body. This causes internal damage as well as minor electrical damage to the skin upon contact. This technique also can be used against weapons in their weapon form to damage them directly. Unlike Soul Menace, Soul Purge temporarily knocks the resonance between a weapon-meister pair out of alignment, making it difficult for them to fight properly for two posts, and preventing them from performing a soul resonance technique for the same amount of time. This ability requires a certain degree of mastery in controlling ones own wavelength. Yata has long since met this requirement.
- Soul Augmentation: Yata is able to charge his body with his own wavelength, channeling it through every pore and every vessel he has. In doing so, he gains a tremendous boost in speed and strength. In doing so, both his speed and his strength double. He can also use this ability to dump the entire boost into one or the other temporarily. If he boosts only his speed, he can move at nearly the speed of sound for a few seconds. If he does the opposite and boosts his strength, he would be able to throw a full grown 6' 250lb man several yards with ease. However, when he boosts a single stat, he receives a decrease in the other, by half to be exact. He can only gain these singular effect boosts for one post before they return to the normal doubled speed and doubled strength under this ability.
- Standalone Meister: Yata is able to channel his soul wavelength into normal weapons (weapons without a soul) such as a sword, a bat, hammer, axe, and so on. In doing so, the weapons act as an extension of his Soul Purge ability and have the same effect as if he had physically touched the enemy without the medium in between.
- Soul Thread Sutures: After shooting a Soul Wavelength into a target, the user can manipulate it —since the Wavelength within the target is still there like a static charge—and use it to suture an individual onto any hard surface. This technique requires extreme amount of precision and as such, can only be performed by the most powerful of Demon Weapons and Meisters. The suturing isn't limited to the target, as the user can even suture themselves in addition. This is the first of two abilities taught to Yata by Professor Stein while he attended the academy; however, he has not mastered this technique and he must stay absolutely still while it is in effect. Due to his lack of mastery over this technique, Yata is unable to perform the diffusion sutures variation. The stitches can remain in place for up to 7 posts before they dissolve on their own.
- Soul Shot: A simple technique that Yata devised after mastering the Soul Purge technique, Soul Shot is a projectile form of Soul Purge or Soul Menace. It is performed by charging wavelength into the users hand then thrusting their open palm outward. The wavelength uses the motion as a catalyst to shoot itself in a straight direction. The shot can travel up to 10 meters before dissipating. If the attack hits, it has the same effect of Soul Purge, without the outward physical damage.
Experimental Ectoplasm
- The second ability taught to Yata by Professor Stein, Experimental Ectoplasm is an ability in which the user surrounds their body with an extremely dense layer of their soul wavelength, then force it to expand outward and catch water molecules that are floating in the air. In the process, the water molecules in the air condense together and form a thick gelatinous liquid. After Yata was taught how to use this ability, he set out to devise ways on how to make this ability more versatile rather than just relying on the form he was taught. He succeeded and has found other ways to use the Experimental Ectoplasm.
- - Golem: This ability creates a large gelatinous Golem-like form around the user that catches physical attacks in its dense liquid form, and absorbs energy based attacks. The thick form of this ability makes it so the user cannot move to attack the enemy while this ability is active, else they would get caught up in the shell as well. This form can last for only one post. When Yata uses this ability, the form it takes is of a large golem with a beak, wings, and 3 arms (Similar to the shape of his soul).
- Catcher's Mit: By concentrating his wavelength around just his hand when activating the Experimental Ectoplasm, Yata has learned how to coat his hand in the gelatinous liquid, allowing him to soften and even nullify the damage from physical attacks by catching the attack with that hand. However, this requires an extreme amount of focus to accomplish because of the dense coating of wavelength it requires, and as such, Yata is limited to using this form of Experimental Ectoplasm 5 times in an actual battle. However, if he is simply training or sparring, where the situation isn't so heated or tense, he can use this ability as much as he wants until things start getting serious.
- Jell-O Cube: Yata is able to gather his wavelength into the palm of his hand and use the Experimental Ectoplasm to form a cube of the gelatinous liquid. He can then throw the cube towards an area or an enemy. If the cube hits the enemy or the are, it envelops the area of contact, and restricts movement from that area for 2 of the affected users post. Meaning that if it hits their foot, then it swallows that foot and they can't move it for 2 posts. If it hits their hand, then they can still move their arm, they just can open or close their hand.
The Black Sun
- This ability is activated by charging Yata's hand with his wavelength during self resonance. The wavelength spreads to his fingertips then begins releasing small bolts of electricity, that collide together and begin forming a small black sphere, with the maximum size of the sphere being as big as Yata's fist. Whenever this sphere begins forming, it greatly increases the heat in the immediate area, making it feel as if Yata's body was engulfed in a large and powerful flame. It also sends out a great deal of pressure that is constantly released until the sphere goes away or is used in some fashion. At the moment, Yata hasn't quite figured out how to use this ability properly. All he knows how to do is form the sphere.
- After training and fooling around with this ability, Yata has learned that crushing the sphere in his hand will cause a swell of fire to erupt from his back, shoulders, and forearms. This ability allows him to manipulate the fire as he sees fit, sending out flamethrowers, throwing fireballs, creating vortexes of flame around his body, and various other ways. The flames, after they are formed, give off no heat. However, contact with the fire causes an extremely severe rush of pain on the spot of contact, as well as dealing burn damage to that same area. The pain isn't the same felt from a normal flame. Rather, this flame causes a sensation that is similar to having your bare nerves and muscle tissue ripped apart on the molecular level. To be clear, that isn't what is happening. It just causes a sense of pain that is similar to that... Very excruciating.
God Speed
- In order to deal with enemies that are capable of instantaneous movement, or teleportation, Yata has developed his own form of teleportation. This is done, similarly to his Soul Augmentation technique, by charging his body with his wavelength. However, instead of just charging his body, he is augmenting every part of his being with his wavelength. His mind, his motor neurons, the muscle fibers that line his body... All of it. In doing so, he is capable of moving at speeds that make it seem like he is teleporting as well. Though, it simply is just incredibly fast movement. In order to use this ability to teleport (for all intensive purposes and to make everything simpler, that is what I'm going to be referring to this movement as) his feet must maintain contact with the ground whenever he begins the movement. If he is off the ground, then he is unable to teleport. Essentially, this ability is used in order to keep up with the movements of beings who can teleport or move fast enough to mimic teleportation (which is exactly what this ability itself does). Whenever he uses God Speed, he cannot attack in the same motion. Rather, he can only get close enough to attack then stop moving before he actually attacks. The motion that is required to attack, coupled with the movement of his legs whenever he is "teleporting," would cause his wavelength to short circuit in a sense. Since he is using his wavelength just to increase his speed, he focuses a majority of it in his legs. But, since it is all throughout his body in every little crevice, the added strain of trying to land an attack while moving at that speed would break the flow of his wavelength mid-stride, and the speed he was moving at would catch up with his body all at once, tearing all of the muscle tissue in his arms and legs. To put it simply, this ability is just to move at speeds rivaling instantaneous movement, not as an offensive ability. Whenever he is attacking, if he still has his body charged with wavelength, his movements are normal paced rather than sped up.
To rephrase again: He moves fast, but whenever he attacks, he stops moving fast and moves normally instead. I guess that's as simplified as I can make it? This ability can't be used to move crazy distances. Just around a battlefield.
Bewegung (Move)
- Whenever forced to fight a long-range battle, Yata employs an ability that is known as Bewegung. The name means move, which, if you couldn't tell, is a hint as to what this ability does. While Yata himself doesn't quite understand how this ability works, he does know how to use it. Whenever Yata moves, or moves something that is in direct contact with his body, he is capable of creating a wave of kinetic energy that travels from the moving body part or object in a straight direction. Yes, even something as small as Yata's movements can be turned into a weapon. He is a war machine. This feat is performed by subconsciously vibrating at a different rhythm than the rest of the world for a moment, allowing the kinetic energy that formed through the motion to slip out of his boy and be used offensively. The wave of kinetic energy is concussive in nature, meaning that it is blunt to the touch. If used with the full force of Yata's strength, the blasts are much more powerful. If he is just using this ability while moving rather than attacking with it, then the waves are more like a slight breeze. If he isn't directing this ability, then the kinetic energy that he gives off just pulses out around him with each movement rather than in a particular direction.
Alchemy Wavelength
- Yata possesses a unique wavelength. Much like when he uses Soul Purge, Yata can channel his wavelength without the use of a meister, only he forces his wavelength into solid inorganic material (such as concrete or asphalt) rather than a living being. In doing so, he gains temporary control over that material and can move it and shape it as he sees fit. However, he cannot freely create more material. Shaping and moving the material is limited to how far through the material he spread his wavelength. If he allows his wavelength to spread a great distance before altering it, he will have a much larger pool of resources to use with this ability. He can only control one material at a time, and must maintain contact with that material (skin-material contact) in order to control it.
Combat Specialist
- Do to the amount of training Yata has gone through in order to make up for his lack of a weapon partner, as well as to further make him a major threat as a solo-meister, his body and mind are both primed for battle. Listed below are the various bodily evolution's that he has undergone.
- - Enhanced Durability: In order to make up for his lack of a weapon partner, Yata has trained countless hours to increase his durability so that he can remain moving in a fight after receiving numerous injuries.
- Enhanced Natural Speed: Even without any help from his abilities, Yata is much faster than the normal human.
- Enhanced Natural Strength: Similar to his speed, Yata is a lot stronger than he appears to be.
- Dexterity: The Wavelength Meister is well known for his reflex speed and his ability to think and react to the various situations and environments that he is placed in. Because of this, his mind works much faster in a battle than the norm.
- Battle Analyst: Yata has taught himself how to accurately gauge an opponents strengths and weaknesses, as well as figure out the rhythm of their abilities, during a fight. It takes a small amount of time, but while he is analyzing he tends to hold back and stay on the defensive and simply counterattack instead of going all out. He doesn't rush head first into the fight until he is satisfied with his analysis.
- Hand-to-Hand Expert: Yata Garasu is an expert at hand to hand combat.
- Polearm Expert: He is also an expert at using a polearm weapon (such as staffs, war axes, glaives, naginata's etc.) during combat. He is proficient enough that he can use the weapon with a single hand and still maintain as much momentum in the fight as he would using both hands.
Advanced Soul Perception: Radar Sweep
- An advanced form of the Soul Perception ability in which Yata closes his eyes and feels out with his wavelength alone. In doing so, he is able to see the souls of everyone and everything within a 50 meter radius all around him; this even works through the witch ability Soul Protect, though he would just see them as souls and not particularly as a witches soul (ONLY if they are using soul protect, without it he sees them as witches souls).
- -Presence Sense: A passive form of this ability, Presence Sense is simply the ability to pick up on the presences of people or things around him. This ability doesn't pick up on souls, just on the existence of beings in the area. He can vaguely sense where they are, but he can't tell what type of being they are, nor anything about them. It's simply feeling that someone or something is there.
