Froreember

Froreember nodded to the decision and followed after Silverstar as they moved to finish the patrol.

After all, if Silverstar was looking for discretion in handling whatever this matter was, this would be better, right?

He had to question his earlier thoughts when Windracer was brought back to camp by Bloodrunner and Whitesnake. Windracer had been a seasoned warrior, a commanding presence among their ranks. A warrior who had committed himself wholly to his warrior's oath and fulfilled his duties to his clan. One who'd earned himself a long rest in the elder's den where he could help knock some sense into apprentices when they didn't want to listen to their mentors.

Perhaps this matter needed to be dealt with swift and unyielding claws.

Froreember discretely watched Bloodrunner when he explained the situation they'd found themselves in. The vicious and angry kittypets got the drop on three warriors, two of which look hardly touched? Not to mention the scent of twolegs wasn't particularly strong on their fur, though it wasn't the easiest to smell past the blood. Still, one would expect that they'd reek of the kittypet's they had run into, right?

Most cats took the explanation at face value though. Froreember wouldn't have doubted Bloodrunner before now either. He would have picked out this lie, of course, but not have immediately thought ill of Bloodrunner. There are endless possibilities of what could have truly happened and surely he would fill Silverstar in appropriately.

But of course, given the snippet of information he'd gained earlier today, he was drawing the conclusion that Silverstar did not trust Bloodrunner or particularly like him. There was something there. Her eyes drilling into Bloodrunner's the whole of the ceremony for Windracer filled Froreember with dread. Whatever this tension was, whatever this problem, was it somehow related to Windracer's death, or was Silverstar simply disgusted by Bloodrunner's lack of ability to save Windracer? It certainly didn't look like he'd tried too hard.

Froreember didn't want to call to question the loyalty of any of his clanmates, but the seeds of doubt had been planted.

And in all fairness, whose to say there might not be something remiss on Silverstar's end as well? But of course, Silverstar was blessed by StarClan to lead ShadowClan.

Froreember brushed these thoughts away and approached Windracer's body, paying his final respects to a valued and beloved warrior before backing away to allow the family space.

He glanced to Silverstar as she came up alongside him and flicked his ear in acknowledgement of her whisper. Froreember frowned at the scene before him, the grief palpable, even with the stoic and hardy ShadowClanenrs trying to hide how hard this blow hit. Normally, Froreember would sit vigil for any of his fallen clanmates, even if they hadn't been particularly close. He was being called upon to perform an important task though. It had to be important for Silverstar to still be ready to leave with her clan in such a state.

Froreember dipped his head in ascent, remaining relaxed as he withdrew from the circle of visibility in the center of camp. Taking Silverstar at her words, Froreember took the liberty of exiting the camp by the dirt tunnel, immediately starting towards the ThunderClan border, pausing only briefly to roll himself in pine needles and peat to mask his scent. His ears were pricked for signs of Silverstar. He couldn't be sure that this is what she had wanted, but Silverpelt was already sparking overhead, casting their territory into darkness. To reach the moonpool, they needed to be moving hours ago. She seemed determined enough to go that she'd be heading straight for the ThunderClan border with or without him. He'd either find her on his way once she exited camp or catch her at the border.

As Foroeember slunk further from camp though, his heart ached with the loss of Windracer. Hee doubted this trip to the moonpool would be as inspiring as he previously though, shadowed by the death of a clanmate as it is. But the moonpool is the point of contact with StarClan. Surely he could pay respects there for Windracer to hear.

SilverStar didnt really think he would go this far. But what if starclan was silent? She shook herdelf and looked over the body of her clanmate. She would find out what happened. She would bring it to light...

She was feeling the sorrow as well, she had trained right along side WindRacer. She thought it was important and she only hoped that her clan would forgive her. Hoped Windracer, could forgive her.

She left behind him, Letting herself say her last goodbyes and she blinked up at silverpelt. And then she was off after FroreEmber. She caught up quick enough and then they moved. She flicked her tail and broke into a run. They would need to move it if they had a chance.

She lead the way easily. And Lucky for the they met no one. She walked up to the ledge and her paws slid into the imprints of their ancestors paws as she headed down to the pool. She glanced back to the sky and then glanced to FroreEmber before headed all the way down . She moved close to the pool, sending a prayer to starclan that they werent too late and she lapped a little water before moving to lay down. Hopefully a dream would come.

Froreember

Froreember had quite expected the punishing pace Silverstar set, given how quickly the moon seemed to be climbing the sky. It would do no good to have taken the risk of drawing attention by leaving Windracer's vigil early for nothing. Making haste, they tore across the lake shore.

They had the luck not to run into any nighttime patrols on their way. He spared a thought to the obvious trail they made, not with scent, but by paw marks crushed into the mud and rocks scattered by their mad dash. Questions would arise if the trail was found by a ThunderClan patrol. That was just a risk they would have to take though.

On a a happier note, Froreember couldn't stop the small pleased curl of his mouth as the pitch dark sky lit up by hundreds of bright white specks. Nary a cloud was in sight and the slight night breeze was crisp and clean. A beautiful night. If only the run was for pleasure alone and not dire business. Perhaps he should feel betrayed that such a beautiful night presented itself on the eve of Windracer's death, but he preferred to think of it was Silverpelt's opening itself up to guide Windracer to StarClan, a homage to the brave and loyal cat than an insult or slight.

And when the moonpool came into sight, it was just as Froreember remembered. Something about the water shone brighter in his eyes, like there was a blow under the water lighting up the surface. The shadows of night felt like kin brushing along your side in comfort and the breeze tugged at your pelt like a mother's tongue. And just as when he'd visited as an apprentice, it was like the tension completely drained from his system, if only temporarily. The part of him that dreamed and thought and wished yearned so badly to hear the whispers of those passed. He could be content with the beauty before him though.

Froreember watched as Silverstar settled in and followed suit, standing vigil at the crest of the slope down to the moonpool itself. standing vigil to guard his leader as she shared tongues with their ancestors. May she find the guidance she needs.

Silverstar wasn't too concerned. Yes there was always the painful thought that they were trespassing, but they were close enough to the lake, and if thunderclan followed they would see they were headed to the moonpool. So she was sure that all that would happen would be that they would be scolded at the next gathering for being too far away from the lake.

As she settled she glanced once more to her guard. Her eyes closed and her mind wandered. She needed starclan needed the answers. She frowned after a while. Nothing, nothing at all? She opened her eyes and she wasnt at the moonpool anymore. She took a breath and she knew she was at horse place on the other side of the windclan terrirtory. She ducked as hooves ran across the ground. A cat perched up on the fence drew her attention. It was one of the ancient leaders of Shadowclan. "BlackStar!"

The tom cat nodded a moment. "You have brought great destruction to Shadowclan." His eyes were hard as flint. "By choosing selfish motives rather than the good of the clan. You must chose! One cat or your clan!" Silverstar recoiled, Starclan was mad at her!? She tucked her head. "If... if only i could find her! I need to... I need to find her! BloodRunner knows! If, If you could just tell me! I would get rid of him! I wouldnt let him..." She felt as small as a kit. She was hurting her clan. These cats that looked up to her. She pinned her ears back. "If I run him out..... will he leave shadowclan alone?" The Black cat before her looked over her with disgust and then he was gone. She called out. "BlackStar!"

She awoke with a start. No! She learned nothing! She closed her eyes and tried to go back. But by this time the moon was starting to sink in the sky. She stood and looked into the moonpool. She had one life left, she was trying to find the one member of her blood family that was still alive. And she had a murderous deputy. Starclan was mad at her. Which meant that she needed to fix it! Bloodrunner would need to be run out. It was the only thing that could work. Maybe. She looked to FroreEmber. "Lets go back." Bloodrunner was a loyal cat in the eyes of all her clan. She couldnt just start spouting off against him without proof.

Froreember

Turning to look at his leader, Froreember's eyes were hard and expression stony.

"Maybe we shouldn't just yet. We can speak here without eavesdroppers," Froreember rejected. He remained seated and staring, his gaze both critical and concerned. While Silverstar had shared tongues with StarClan, Windracer had reached out to him, and maybe that was the most concerning part. For StarClan to speak not to a medicine cat or a leader, but a simple warrior, things must be grave.

While sitting guard, enjoying moonbathing as he kept alert, Windracer came to him. The atmosphere became oppressive and the stars spun and flared until his vision was white. When he could see again, there was Windracer, stars now bristling with his fur. With him, he'd brought tidings of doom.

His nostrils still stung from the acrid scent of blood that accompanied the vision. Froreember was not going to remain a passive party to whatever power play was occurring between Silverstar and Bloodrunner. Not a day before, he's barely known of unrest surrounding his leader and deputy, but now he was irrevocably involved. He had been given reasons already to be suspicious of Bloodrunner, but that didn't mean Silverstar was perfectly free from blame. He needed to know what part she played in this. With the look Windracer had given her, Froreember wasn't sure he could trust her with this.

She came to the moonpool to seek guidance, and while her demeanor could be interpreted as receiving news as grave as that he received, something was amiss for it to be offered to Froreember in the first place. There had to be a reason for Windracer to share this omen with him and not her. He hated the idea that Bloodrunner and Silverstar couldn't be trusted but he would not let that cloud his judgement and would proceed with caution.

Had she known what was to come when she appointed Bloodrunner deputy? No she couldn't have, she wouldn't put her clan in danger like that. StarClan trusted her enough to make her leader. An insidious whisper of a history of selfish and power hungry leaders to rule clans in the past, however infrequent they were, had been growing in volume for a while now. StarClan, while their ancestors that came before, respected for their wisdom and lives given in service to their clans, are still not all knowing. The situation could have changed. If Bloodrunner was as bad as Windracer indicated he might be, just how did Silverstar wind up appointing him deputy?

He needed to speak with Patchprayer, but first.

"Silverstar, no disrespect, but I've been thinking all evening. I need to understand the what is going on. Why would Bloodrunner kill Windracer? If you had your suspicions before, why did you let it go this far?" His tone was amicable enough and lacked accusation, but his eyes were icy in a way his voice was not. He would not be backing down on this. And if Silverstar did not offer answers after allowing him to get this far involved, then he would seek them elsewhere. Whatever was happening, by going with Silverstar this evening, it had placed attention on Froreember. Lack of knowledge could lead to him being next.

Forgive the lapse, Caffe was on a non rp muse~

Silverstar flicked her ears back at the tone the tom took. No one ever rejected what she said. She was leader Damnit... But she could see the concern so she relaxed a little. She swished her tail back and forth a moment. "Do you need to speak to me?" She hadnt planned to share her dream, it wasnt good... and it still left her with a choice she would have to make.

She frowned. "Whats wrong FroreEmber?" He seemed, edgy. No knowledge that WindRacer had reached out was given to her. All she knew was he was ok to come with and now he was looking at her as if she had sprouted horns.

She flicked an ear. How far could she trust FroreEmber with this. What was she going to do? She took a breath. "Whats going on is, I have been selfish and that has lead us to this point... " Her eyes held Regret. "Honestly, FroreEmber, BloodRunner was never the right cat to be deputy... But what he holds against me, is my sister... She was stolen away as a kit... Everyone, including me, thought her dead. But Bloodrunner had chased out a Rogue that spoke of his mother... my sister... It has to be her!" She twitched her tail looking away a moment. "He refused to tell me any information more than he knew where she was... " She looked up to see if FroreEmber was following. "He told me that information the day RedWing died... Of course... i thought it a hoax... but he described her... in perfect detail... no cat younger than I would remember her! So it had to be... And Bloodrunner had always been loyal! So when he wouldnt tell me, unless he was deputy, i decided it would be ok, a loyal shadowclanner, sure a little forward and powerhungry... but hopefully he would mellow out being in power. Of course i was uncomfortable being blackmailed... but never before had i reason to worry..." She frowned. "I never thought it would get this bad... But he still hasnt told me where she is! And now the clan wont just accept me kicking him out for no reason... But im sure he killed Windracer to try and stop me from going tonight... StarClan is mad at me... I... " She took a breath. "FroreEmber... I need to find evidence, or reason to demote bloodrunner... but if he has gone to killing... " She shook herself. "I never meant for it to get this far, and i cant see a way out." Her eyes were worried but she watched the tom. This was her fault, but she needed her warriors to be loyal to her. If they were loyal to Bloodrunner, this could mean danger.
