Ooh. I could use something new to read!
I guess my suggestions depend on what you like to read, yourself. If you like romance, I highly recommend Jill Shalvis or Lori Foster. Both are incredible authors with a gift for making their characters real. If you're interested in fantasy, try Nalini Singh's Changeling series or any of Ilona Andrew's series. If you like combination books, the Chronicles of Elantra by Michelle Sagara are a fascinating blend of fantasy and police procedural with just a teeny tiny dash of romance.

A lot of the books I enjoy reading are a little weird/out there/violent, etc. I can recommend both manga and novels, depending on what you enjoy.
Some of my favourite books include The Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka, American Psycho by Bret Ellis Easton, Battle Royale by Koushun Takami (This is the novel that The Hunger Games ripped off, oops did I just type that? stare ), Requiem for a Dream by Hubert Selby Jr., and The Tin Drum by Gunter Grass.
It's also an extremely well known classic, but Animal Farm by George Orwell will always be a favourite of mine.

If you're into fantasy, check out John Marco. His Sword of Angels trilogy is absolutely amazing, you'll have a hard time putting the book down.
It does tackle some cliches, but if you're into that, they do a good job bringing it full circle, adding some twists and strong challenges... I absolutely adore his work.

Actually, in an interview Quentin Tarantino said that film was the only one that he wishes he had made himself. The second movie is atrocious, though.

Harry Potter is always a suggestion. I adored Redwall by Brian Jaques when I was young. It's a children's story but adorable. Be careful though. It's quite repetitive. The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings, of course. The Princess Bride is decent. I used to read Little Women every Christmas until it was ground into my DNA. The Book Thief is amazing. Dracula is so bogged down with details that I only got halfway through. But it was written 100 years ago. Snow Flower and the Secret Fan is still my favorite book ever. By Lisa See. It's got drama, history, girl problems.. I loved it. I think I cried. The Invention of Wings by Sue Monk Kidd. It's set in slavory times and changes pov's between a slave and the owner.
That's all from me. I'm gonna start on The Life of Pi.

I'm not really a reader. I would love audio books. I gave suggestions. I'm not a reader because I have a hard time understanding what I read. It's the disability.-sigh- so I just avoid reading because I know it will be hard for me to understand. But a new book list wouldn't be a bad thing. I'd like to enjoy reading again. But need books like Harry Potter and books fit for like teens or young adults. I've already got a few on my TBR list. Once I open it, I try to get it, but if it doesn't make sense in like 6 chapters, I'm done. I give them a shot, but....if I can't, then i quit.

Did you hear that the author of Mortal Instruments is being sued for copying part of another author's work for those books? I haven't been following it lately, so I'm not sure how it turned out. Supposedly the author has a long line of plagiarism complaints against her. >< Too bad though... I liked the story line. I love kinky romance books, but I couldn't get into the author of 50 shades writing style.

It's really good in audio version. And it's popular so I'm sure a library by you has a copy. They are great stories! I listen to them in the car. It's a teen fiction series too.
