----Basic Information----
Mind behind the Character: Reticent Harlequin
Name: Kain
Gender: Male
Age: 24
Personality: Kain is a brave and selfless individual who strives to protect the weak and less fortunate, using every bit of power he has. However, he still shows rebellious and sometime laid back tendencies. Such as sneaking off from Shira, just so he can go and take a nap under a tree or stare up at the clouds. When one first thinks of Kain, the one thing that comes to mind is his seemingly calm and very laid back personality. He rarely takes things seriously and is always seen having a smile on his face and just goofing off most of the time. At times, he can be extremely blunt when talking to other people, never hesitating to say the first thing that pops into his mind. Due the specific nature of his childhood, Kain is courageous and confident having no fear of anything at all or he is very adept at hiding his fears. When he is in the vicinity of those he consider rivals, he also shows a fierce fighting spirit and tenacity, willing to accept any and all opponents. Of course, this is just one part of his personality, when he enters battle. When he engages in battle, Kain truly shows what the affects of being raised in the Netherworld can have on a young boy. Upon entering battle, Kain will emit an intense aura similar to that of a wolf stalking its prey. His fighting style becomes very erratic and unpredictable as he goes with his own flow, using various forms of fighting styles that he taught himself. His eyes become almost feral and primitive-like, as he fights more like a savage and wild animal, than a normal human. The blood-lust radiating from him is very noticeable.
History:
While still just five years old, Kain would lose both his parents to thieves and robbers, who came to his home, in a faraway town. While he was too young to truly remember the entire ordeal, one could argue that the entirety of his life, every decision he's made and his views on life, all of it, can be derived from this critical point in his life. He could remember the pain and agony that he had to endure, the overwhelming sadness and despair, was far too much for a young boy like him to handle. This pain caused him to close off his heart to those around him and caused him to be cast off into the slums of the town.
The next few months wouldn't be any better. For those six months, Kain had to struggle to survive. He resorted to stealing, pick pocketing and conning any and all who met him. He did everything he could in order to survive, but even he didn't know why he wanted to continue living. One day, while attempting to steal some bread from a food stand, Kain would be caught by the stand owner and beaten within an inch of his life. Around here, this was common and there was nothing anyone could do to try and help him. Everyone only looked out for themselves and saw others, like Kain, who wore dirty clothes and was obviously living in filth as nothing but trash. They did not want to be seen associating with someone as low as him. After he had been beaten, Kain would be thrown down a dark alleyway, landing in a pile of garbage and mud. Kain could barely move, as he had suffered a broken arm and ribs in the beating. He could barely even breath, Kain would lay there, staring up at the sky, waiting for death to finally take him away.
At that moment, a tall figure cloaked in black robes, would appear before the dying boy. "Poor child. You, who has had everything taken away from him, continue to live, but for what?" he asked, to which Kain would say nothing in reply. "Young one, do you wish to live? Do you wish to find your purpose in this world? I can give meaning to your life. If you wish to join me, all you must do is take my hand." the man stated as he leaned down and held out his hand. Kain thought over the man's words, carefully. Did he want to find meaning in his life? Was there any need for him to do so, especially since he was already on the verge of death? Kain was confused and in that confusion, he would make a decision that he has since regretted. Struggling to move his head towards the man, Kain opened his mouth, "Please..." he muttered as he managed to hold up his right arm, since the left was broken, and took the man's hand. The moment Kain took his hand, an ominous grin would spread across the man's face as his cloak fell over Kain, covering the boy's body completely and then, in an instant the two would vanish, leaving only the small indentation of Kain's body and the man's footsteps, in the mud.
After leaving with the man, the next few years of Kain's life was one filled with long arduous days of training. It would take eight years of pure hell and torture, studying day after day, training for countless hours, practicing his stealth and hand to hand combat, to the point where he could take out any foe. If he should make a mistake or fall asleep during any of the studying, Kain would be beaten mercilessly and then forced to redo the tasks over and over again. Never once, did he have the chance to go and play like normal children, he did not have a single friend. His childhood was one of loneliness and sorrow, not being allowed to have any contact with other people, save for the members of the group that had taken him in, his mentor and the many of the animals that they raised.
Precisely three years later, when he had turned eighteen, Kain would finally be allowed to leave the compound, but only to complete his very first mission, which was the assassination of a rather high ranking family that was said to have had connections with one of the dictators around the world. His job was to eliminate the entire family, sparing no one. He would be accompanied by his mentor Asha. As they reached the destination for the contract, Kain became hesitant. This was the first time in about 10 years that he had been able to see the outside world, the smiling faces of other people, to actually see what it means to be free, as he was not free, he was a prisoner. Taking a deep breath, Kain quieted his heart, as this will be the first time he took the life of another being. Peering into the window of the rather large hone, Kain managed to make out at least thirty bodies in there, most of which, belonged to the maids and other staff. Closing his eyes, Kain took one last breath before slowly opening up the window and slide through, landing quietly on the floor, right behind one unsuspecting maid. Staring at the back of her head for a few seconds, Kain was starting to get nervous, but he knew that if he failed to kill everyone, then he himself, would be killed by Asha. Not wanting to die, himself, Kain quickly unsheathed a small dagger from a holster strapped on the back of his waist. The, rather quickly, he moved behind the maid, wrapped his hand around her mouth, stopping her from screaming and with a steady hand, slit the woman's neck, killing her instantly. With the lifeless body in his arms, Kain dragged it and placed it into a broom closet. Wiping off the dagger, he went on to his next target,
One by one, Kain would kill each and every servant that he came across, making sure that none ever saw his face or any of the bodies he left in his wake. He did this for at least an hour and within that time, he managed to take down half of the people he was meant to, but now that a majority of the staff was missing, the Owner of the manner would send out some of his guards to go and check on them, not knowing what was happening. Positioning himself atop a chandelier, Kain watched as four guards came into the kitchen, which was where he had just recently, finished disposing all of the cooks and butlers that were there. Kain had thought that he cleaned up the mess perfectly, but to his surprise, there would be a rather small pool of blood on the floor next to the pantry, where he stored most of the bodies. As one of the guards noticed the blood, he would call the other three over to the location. Knowing that should they be allowed to leave the kitchen alive, his mission would fail, Kain had no choice but to act, so as all four gathered around the spot, to inspect the blood, Kain would jumped from the chandelier, landing in between them. Removing his dagger, he slit the neck of one of the guards, took the sword that he was carrying and used it to impale the second one in head. Having already killed two, the other two would be next. Removing the sword from the second guard's head, Kain lunged towards the third one and pierced him in the heart. Not wanting to die, the fourth guard would try and make a run for it, heading out towards the Owner and the rest of family, but before he could reach the door, Kain had thrown the dagger towards him, stabbing him in the back of the head.
After that was done, the only ones left were the actual targets, meaning the Mr. and Mrs. of the Manor. Sneaking into the room where the two resided, Kain saw that there were quite a few more people in there. Not only was there the primary targets, but it seemed that a few of the servants as well as three more guards were stationed there. Scanning the room, Kain carefully made out a way to take out all of them at once. First he sneaked over towards the lighting and got rid of it, making the room completely dark. As this happened everyone would panic and seek the light. While everyone was so panicked, Kain took advantage and using his keen sense of hearing and smell, managed to find each individual and one by one, slit their throats. The only thing that could be heard was the blood spurting out of their necks. Kain did this until the only ones left were the Owner and his wife. At this time, he would turn the lights back on and to the horror of the two left, the entire hall had been dyed red with the blood of their servants and guards. Frozen with fear, the two could do nothing as Kain slowly made his way towards them. As he did, both pleaded for their lives, even tried to bribe him with all their fortune, to spare them, but Kain had no other choice. He did not want to die himself, so he would do anything it took to keep him from doing. "In this world, there are two choices one must make. To kill in order to survive, or to die, a weak and miserable death." he told the two before slitting their necks.
Once this happened, a high-pitched shriek would be heard coming from behind him. Having been caught off guard, Kain would turn around to see a young girl about 15 years old standing there, she must have been their daughter. Overcome with fear, the girl could not moving, she had just witnessed her parents being murdered right before her, what could should. Looking towards the girl, Kain did not know what to do. She was not on the list of the ones that he was to kill, but she had witnessed everything, meaning that she could not live. Closing his eyes, Kain had to think things over carefully, one mistake and he will die. The girl continued to stand there, pleading to let her live, promising she would not tell anyone of what had happened. Hearing her words, Kain, opened up his eyes and started walking towards her, "P-Please, I won't tell anyone, just spare me. Please!" she begged. "I prom-" Before she could finish, Kain placed his bloodied hand around her mouth. Moving his face closer to hers, Kain's eyes told the story, his actions here today had left a scar in his heart and soul, causing him to no longer see the world as the warm, caring, happy place he thought it was. Now, he had seen the truth, this world is one of survival and death. You either kill to live or do nothing, or die. As he came to this revelation, his eyes were dull and almost lifeless, not a single spark could be seen, the boy's spirit and will were broken, what stood before the young girl was no longer a man but an empty shell, without saying a word, Kain removed his hand from her face and in one quick motion, slit her throat. Leaving her lifeless body there, Kain had completed his mission and finally became a true assassin. He would then leave the manner, the same way he came, without making a sound. After leaving, news of what had transpired there, spread throughout the world.
After that ordeal with his first mission, Kain became a rather cold and distant person. He would carry out each and every mission he was given without any hesitation. He became a merciless killer, slaying women, children, elderly, anyone who was on the list of targets, he would kill, no questions asked. He would continue doing this for several months. After doing this job for so long, Kain had become quite possibly, one of the best mercenaries in the world. His skills improved to the point that he had surpassed his own master and mentor, Asha, the very person who brought him into the group. Asha felt as though Kain would eventually usurp his position and become the leader. This was not something he wanted.
So, Asha would make a decision that forever changed not only his fate, but that of Kain as well. Asha, having become paranoid, ordered the members of his personal squad, to seek out and kill Kain and any who sided with him, as traitors, stating that he had evidence that Kain was secretly working together with some other members to kill him and take control of the group. This one action led to Asha’s downfall. Kain, however, managed to escape the building before the order was issued, thanks to a spy he had implanted in Asha's personal squad. Having learned of what was happening, Kain would gather up what few members that had been out on missions and led them against Asha. Kain and his men, attacked the Organization. In the end, it all came down to Kain and Asha, master and student. Asha had lost all sanity and became a pale imitation of his former self, he was frail and weak and Kain saw this. Approaching his master, Kain pleaded with him to give the order to cease, so that they could keep what little remained of their men, intact, but Asha was too far gone, he did not trust Kain, nor did he want to concede. So, with a dagger in his hand, Asha lunged towards Kain, intending to slay the boy where he stood. Seeing this, Kain sighed, as he had no choice but to take Asha down. With one quick motion, Kain removed his dagger and pierced Asha right in the heart, this sealed his fate. With a dry laugh, Asha fell to the ground, bleeding quickly, "Y-You've...doomed, yourself." he managed to say before closing his eyes and taking his last breath.
Kain had little time to ponder on what Asha meant, as there would be countless explosions heard going off all around and in the building. Looking towards his now deceased master, Kain saw that there was some sort of contraption connected to his chest. Seeing this, Kain deduced that it was some sort of trigger that was set to detonate bombs upon Asha's death. Not having enough time to flee, Kain could do little to save himself or the few that remained. With a smile on his face, Kain went and sat next to his master, looking down, "It's only fitting that I die this way." he muttered as the explosions came closer and closer, "Finally." Kain stated as the last explosion, engulfed the entire room, taking Kain and his master with him. With that, the entire building that they were fighting in and its people would be destroyed by the explosions, or almost.
Among the rubble and debris, a single body would be seen charred and bloodied, but still pulsed with life, it was none other than Kain. After everything settled down, several noises would be heard as countless figures suddenly appear atop the debris. Barely conscious, Kain would open up his eyes to see the men and women running around, searching for survivors. All of them wore black. Just then, one person in particular would appear before him. This man or some sort of being, was seemingly bathed in an ominous black light and adorned in violet garments. Looking upon the figure, Kain initially thought of him as death and greeted him with only a simple. Even in the face of death, he would smile, but the being quickly dismissed Kain's speculation. The being would tell Kain, that he was not death, but salvation. Looking up, Kain saw that these were not humans, but actually lower class demons that had been gathered around him and the one commanding them, the being who saved his life, was none other than the powerful demon, Divine Hope. “Kain Eternia, I’ve been keeping an watchful eye on you. You have power, you have the skills and more importantly, you have what it takes to be my vessel. So, you will live. You will live on and become the next Divine.” With just those few words, Kain would know that he was no longer going to be allowed to die. He would be forced to live. As they began to dig him out of the rubble and place take him through some sort of purple veil, Kain would pass out.
After this incident, Kain woke up in a strange place. It would be a small metal room with cold hard floors and only one window. Struggling to stand to his feet, Kain made his way over to the window and peered out at the vast world before him. As he did this, everything would come back to him. His master's betrayal, their battle and the destruction of their base. He had lost everything. After having fought countless soldiers and having a building fall down on him, Kain's body was in surprisingly good shape, albeit a little stiffer than usual, as well as the newly acquired wounds that now covered his body, he was still alive, much to his dismay. Leaving the small room, Kain would walk into a small open area, overlooking a small river. “Greetings, young Kain.” A familiar stated as a tall domineering man, appeared behind Kain. Kain’s body instantly tensed up at this man’s presence. Every fiber in his being was telling him to leave, run away, but Kain’s body couldn’t or rather wouldn’t move. It was like he was paralyzed by fear. “Hey, hey. Is that any way to treat the person that saved your life?” the man asked. Clicking hsi teeth, Kain relaxed, "I don't recall wanting to be saved." he replied. Upon hearing this, the man smiled, "And that, my dear Kain, is the problem, isn't it?" walking towards Kain, the man's figure became more clear. "I mean, you're just a mere child and you have no will to live. No light, no hope. Only despair." Kain really couldn't respond to the man then. No it was more like there was no need to respond because that was what he truly was. He had lost all hope, the will to keep living, the light, the warmth, he had lost it all, years ago. "So? What do you want with me?" Kain asked. "Like I said, you would make the perfect vessel. As you have already gathered, I am not human, I am a demon, my name is Divine and from this moment on you will be under my command." Divine Hope, his name was famous, even among the non-DWMA humans. He was a demon that could compete with the likes of Lord Death and many others. That demon is now standing before him, calling him his vessel. "By vessel, you mean?" Kain wasn't actually sure what it was that Divine saw in a human like himself, but clearly there was something. "Oh, when I mean vessel, I don't truly mean vessel, as in I want to devour your soul and possess your body. No, in truth, I want an heir, someone I can bestow my powers unto and take my place." Kain was a little confused by his explanation. "If that is the case, why not choose a demon or vampire, why choose a lowly human like myself?" "That is a good question. Truthfully, there are hundreds of beings that are more suitable to replace me, but among them all, you stood out the most. I've watched your life. I've seen everything that has been done to you and everything that you have done. You, despite all the atrocities that have happened to you, are still alive. Either by pure chance or skill, you are still alive. You show more promise than any other. So you're human? When I was your age, I was a human, but in order to achieve my dream, I was transformed into a demon and became stronger. Stronger than any other." As Divine spoke, Kain couldn't help but listen to him. His words, the tone of his voice, not to mention his overwhelming presence, Divine gave off the aura of a ruler, a king and now this king has chosen Kain as his heir. "Plus, I can sense it in you." Divine added. "Sense what?" asked Kain. "The soul of someone I deeply cared for. The soul of my brother. His will, it lives on in you. You even resemble him, somewhat." Divine added before sighing. "Enough speaking, from now on. I will train you, I will teach things that, that organization of yours could only hope to teach. You will become strong, one of the strongest humans there is." Kain looked up at Divine and nodded. "Please." he muttered before feeling a strange sensation under him. "Wha?" Looking down, Kain saw yet another purple veil appear and his body was being slowly sucked into it. "Good, your training begins now. Try not to die." With those words, Kain would be transported off into an area comprised mostly of jungle.
Once he entered the jungle, Kain, fatigued and near his breaking point, collapsed near the base of a massive tree, which appeared to have been located at the center of the jungle. As he laid there, the murky silhouettes of various creatures could be seen moving around in the deep, dense leaves. However, they did not attempt to attack the boy, in fact, it seemed like they were merely there to observe him. After several hours, Kain would finally begin to stir and soon, open his eyes. Sitting up, Kain examined his surroundings and took note of the danger he was in. "Just what am I supposed to do here?" the boy asked. "Survive." Divine's voice would reply, within his head. "You are to live in this jungle full of demonic beasts and other fearsome creatures, for three years." "Three years? How am I going to survive that long?" Kain asked. "I will not guide you. Either live or die. The choice is yours." Sighing, Kain had no idea what he was supposed to do or how Divine expected him to live her. In that moment, in that brief second of contemplation, Kain would finally be able to sense why the other animals did not attack him. Standing above the boy would be a rather large and menacing wolf. It was snow white with slight hints of silver. The wolf was covered in all sorts of scars and wounds. It was painfully obvious that this wolf was one of, if not the, ruler of this place. The wolf's eyes never once left Kain as the boy tried to slowly back up, knowing that he was no match for this demon. Backing away, Kain would never once lose focus of the wolf, their eyes never left one another. Kain knew that should he make one mistake and disrespect the wolf, that would be the end of him. Thankfully, Kain was able to back down and not make any hostile motions. The wolf allowed him to leave. Once out of range, Kain ran as far as he could, falling on the ground only after he had put enough distance between the two of them. This would be the start of the first of three very hellish and deadly years.
In order to survive, Kain had to learn and adapt to his surroundings. Of course, for an injured and broken teen like himself, this proved difficult to do, but he persevered. In his first year since living there, Kain, managed to learn the basics, such as: finding and building shelter, learning which types of berries and plant life were safe to consume, how start a fire, etc. Essentially, he would learn all that he needed, in order to survive in the jungle, but what he truly needed to do, was live, which he could only hope to achieve, by proving his dominance over the other predators, who thought of him as food. In that jungle, Kain came across various beasts that tried to devour him and only by sheer luck had he managed to escape their grasps. In his second year, after he had learned the ways of the jungle, Kain decided that it was time to change himself and get stronger. So day in and day out, the boy trained. He fought against beasts more on his level and beat them, but not killing them. Kain continued to fight and challenge stronger opponents until he could reach the top of the food chain, where the really powerful beasts reigned. It was also during this year, in which Kain discovered his ability to transform into a weapon, or in his case, weapons. Though his ability to transform was nothing more than cheap parlor trick compared to his soul wavelength manipulation, which allowed for him to deliver deadly strikes or blasts. In his third and last year of living there, Kain had finally managed to grow strong enough to not only challenge the wolf he met exactly two year prior but also the entirety of the beasts there as well. Approaching the den of the wolf, Kain came prepared to die, never once expecting to actually live. With one last moment of silence, Kain charged directly into the den, letting out a ferocious howl. What followed next was something no one could have expected. Kain and the wolf would fight for three days straight, both managing to wound and weaken the others. This fight was probably the hardest in Kain's life and he actually enjoyed it. Even though his life was in danger, Kain was smiling and laughing. He was having the fun fighting the wolf. The sheer thrill of this life and death battle, coupled with the pride he was now feeling, actually Kain a reason to live.
On the third day of the battle, both Kain and the wolf would each land one hit to the other. The wolf managed to deliver a powerful slash to Kain torso, cutting him open and Kain would land a deadly soul blast on the wolf, damaging its internal organs. Both would collapse on the ground, but only one would still be conscious. With a smile on his face and bleeding all over his body, Kain would would let out the most satisfying victory shout one could ever hear. As he finished, Kain laid there, bleeding out and near death's door, yet again. In fact the boy could barely keep his eyes open, until the sound of clapping came echoing through out the area. "Well, well. Looks like you've improved quite a bit in just 3 short years." an all too familiar voice would say as Divine appeared from a portal and stood before the boy. "And remarkably, you're still alive. Kain, you never cease to impress me." Divine added before leaning down and picking the boy up. "Now then, the first part of your training is complete. Let's get you patched up and we can start on the next part." At this point in his story, Kain wouldn't really divulge what the next part of his training was. Even mentioning it seems to cause him to suffer from strange hallucinations and sometimes, he would pass out. Though from what can be gathered from others and not to mention what Divine himself have told some. For his next bit of training, Kain would go one on one, against Divine himself. The training would only be complete if Kain could bring Divine to his knees or at the very least, land one hit. The two would fight day after day for weeks on in, only taking a break when Kain had reached his limit or passes out due to his injures. Needless to say, Kain never once managed to force Divine to his knees or land a punch, but that didn't stop Kain from fighting. According to Divine, it took Kain around 3 more years to actually be able to land one hit on the demon. Upon which, his training would be complete. After his training had been complete, Divine had ordered Kain to attend the DWMA, which was odd, as Divine was an enemy of the DWMA. Kain figured that it was because he wanted him to spy on and relay information of their plans and actions back to Divine. However, Divine commanded no such thing. He only asked that Kain become stronger and make comrades.
Months later, after going through the appropriate procedures, Kain would become a student at DWMA and strove to become the strongest in the world. From time to time, Divine would call upon Kain and the two would fight, often with Kain returning to Death City, with a few new wounds. Which, needless to say, caused for his meister, Akumu to become worry and ever more curious as to what Kain was doing. Akumu became close to Kain so much so that the two would become lovers and eventually fiance's, however, all that changed after Akumu would be killed by a demon, a demon that Kain wasn't strong enough to kill. After losing his first partner and lover, Kain would close off his heart to others and remain in the DWMA as a meisterless weapon. But that changed once he and Shira met. On that day, Kain had began smiling more and gradually he opened up his heart to her, he was able to accept Akumu's death and finally let go of his pain. Along with Shira, Kain gained new friends and allies, in Dara, Eric, Emma, Herald and Aislin. However his friendship with Herald would take a turn as the kishin would kidnap, Mirai, his now adopted sister and her partner.
As a result, Kain became reckless, emotional and very unstable. This caused a lot of trouble with not only Shira, but the rest of the team as well, as they chased after Harold and Emma. After being shown various memories from Eric/Harold's past, Kain and the group finally made it to Harold and Emma, but it was too late. Harold had already separated himself from Eric, becoming a being of unimaginable power. This new Harold was far stronger than the old one and sought to kill Texas as well as Mirai. He considered himself no longer apart of their team. Seeing this, Kain challenged Harold, but could not handle this power and was subsequently taken down by Harold, being severely injured in the process. However, thanks to Emma and Dara's words, Harold became calmed and everything seemed to have been settled. But that was not true.
While talking to Kain, Eric, who had regained consciousness, would be shot straight through the chest, by Scarlet the shinku. After his defeat to Harold, Kain had begun to see the error of his ways and thanks to everyone's words, he managed to find inner peace again. Reverting back to his normal state of being, Kain lowered his head and body before Scarlet, begging for her to take his life instead of Eric's. Kain had sold his soul and body to Scarlet and had expected for her to order him to take his own life, but it seems that she had some other plan in mind and instead asked him to join her and Divine. Of course, Kain could not refuse Scarlet's words and chose to leave with her, after saying his last goodbyes to everyone there. It was there, in the Netherworld, where he was reunited with Divine, where upon meeting him, Divine impaled Kain with his many swords and went on to torture the boy before his generals and the Blackwings. It is also there that Divine began his countless days of torture and experimenting on Kain, wanting to break the boy's spirit and body, just so he could change him into a powerful warrior. After spending countless days being tortured by Divine both mentally and physically, Kain finally submitted. Resulting in him being nothing more than a servant of Divine.
During the attack on Death City, Kain would kill hundreds of innocent people and destroy countless buildings, even his own home, all of his own volition. It would be when he is confronted by his former allies, that Kain would truly show the results of Divine's torture. He had grown far more powerful but also more cold, as upon seeing Shira and the others, he instantly went in for the kill. During this battle, Kain would injure and mentally abuse Mirai and his friends, but it would be Shira's words and deep down, his own gentle heart that caused Divine's influence over him to waiver and led to Shira and Kain becoming partners once again. However, in the end, all was lost, as Divine proved to be too strong and easily defeated them all, taking over Death City.
In the three short months that Divine held the city, Kain and the others would be in Refugee Camp, slowly mounting an rebellion and counter strike to take back Death City. Everything came down to that fateful day, when the team went to face Divine, however they were too late. It seems that Divine had been betrayed by Noira of the Blackwings and was already on the verge of death. Despite this, he continued to fight against Kain and the others, but ultimately, he would fall, not by Herald's or Kain's hands, but Mirai's. Kain was distraught over Divine's death and would have lost his sanity, if not for Shira and Mirai. As Divine had been slain, Herald would make an attempt at Mirai's life, this, along with everything else, was the final straw and Kain would declare Herald his enemy. As of now, he and Herald have yet to see or speak to one another, because Kain had vowed to kill him the moment he stepped foot in Death City or near Mirai again.
A few days after this, the last demons occupying the city had been driven off and the city back in the hands of the Shinigami. With his home destroyed, Kain would move into an apartment with Shira, where the two would finally reconcile with one another, however, while this was happening something evil would lurking under Death City. That evil came in the form of the Evil Counterparts from an alternate dimension. The leader of the group, known as Lily, ambushed Kain and with one powerful kick, knocked him out and took him captive. Waking up a few minutes later, Kain found himself locked away in a chamber underneath Death City and it seemed that Lily and her group needed him for some unforeseen reason.
Later on, he found himself being taken deep underneath Death City, along with the entirety of the group. There, they had to go through numerous trials in order to get to some sort of hidden chamber. Through out it all, Kain had been drained of both energy and blood, all of which, went to fuel the rebirth of the second Kishin to have ever been created, Atlas. While the exact details of the kishin and how he and Kain are connected, remains unknown, with the sudden awakening of the kishin, Kain and his friends have yet another powerful enemy to deal with.

----Abilities and Techniques Information----
Beat of the Soul
- A very powerful and useful ability that Kain discovered through his time fighting alongside Shira and his friends. Kain discovered that when he resonates with his partner, he is able to hear the "beat" of her soul and by going along with the beat and playing a melody that matches the wavelength perfectly, he is able to unlock her hidden potential and draw out her maximum power, with little to no strain to her or her soul. Though it does take time for him to perfectly sync with her wavelength, as such, he will only do this if the battle requires it and has the adequate amount of time to prepare for it. In short, when the two resonate, but find that their power is still lacking, Kain is able to use this ability to temporarily unlock Shira's true strength. Her physical and mental limitations are released for a period of 1 hour, during which, her strength, speed, endurance, stamina, etc. All of it is at it's peak. What makes this even more useful is that should him and Shira form a chain resonance, with another team they, too, will be able to get the benefit of this. [Lasts for apprx. 5 posts]
Spiritual Energy/Wavelength Manipulation
- As a being who possesses an enormous amount of spiritual energy, it is only natural that Kain takes advantage of this and uses it to unleash powerful long range techniques, either while in his weapon form or using the two dual pistols that he carries with him. When in his weapon form, Kain uses both his own energy as well as that of his partner's, which increases the power of his energy attacks, while in his normal form, he uses his on spiritual energy and focuses it into his pistols, thus allowing form him to fire off rounds. Most techniques that Kain can be seen using involves him gathering his spiritual energy or encase he is in his weapon form, using his partner's energy as well as his own and condensing it into either his own weapons or himself.
Hunger Overhaul
- A rather unique and incredibly powerful ability that Kain managed to discover after undergoing intense training. Hunger Overhaul is an ability that allows for Kain to take in the nutrients of any organic substance and use it to restore his power and stamina by absorbing any latent energies in any form. Similar to normal eating, Kain simply needs to ingest the food like normal, it is at this time that he starts to slowly merge with the food he ate, amplifying the nutrients of the food, and returning his stamina and strength back. However, what makes this ability even more rare is that Kain can devour not only organic substances, but also inorganic, in this case, it would be an opponent's energy attack or something along those lines. The way that he does this is by allowing said attack to come within range of him and then he will inhale deeply. As he does this, the atomic structure of the attack will begin to falter and pretty soon the attack will become nothing but pure energy. Once it reaches this state, the energy will flow into Kain's mouth and almost instantly, disperse through out his body, revitalizing him as well as replenishing his strength. Depending on the substance and how much of it he consumes, Kain will be able to regain a little to full strength and stamina. [Kain can only use this ability three times per battle. Can be used to heal minor to critical wounds, but the more serious the wounds, the stronger the attack must be in order to heal it.]
Soul Rhythm
- Soul Rhythm, similar to, Beat of the Soul, is an ability that starts out with Kain being able to feel the "rhythm" of his partner's soul and by producing a soul wavelength that matches the rhythm, he is able to restore portions of his meister's stamina and heal minor to serious wounds, either physical or mental. When using this ability, both partners as well as those around them, will be able to hear a harmonious tune and see a golden light embrace the duo, upon which the wounds either one sustained would be healed and their stamina restored. As with Beat of the Soul, should him and Shira form a chain resonance, with another team they, too, will be blessed with this healing affect.
Anti-Demon Wavelength
- Kain is one of the rare few, that possesses the powerful and distinctive Demon-Repelling Wavelength. This characteristic is signified by the emission of an intense white light upon activation and makes any subsequent technique used particularly effective in countering any individual harboring or reliant upon the quality of Madness, such as Witches and those afflicted by Black Blood. Even Immortals are not immune to injury in the face of this wavelength. However, Kain, being a gun-type demon weapon is able to fire off this anti-demon wavelength in the form of energy bullets. Making any and all of his attacks quite powerful against those who possess madness. When he and Shira resonate, she also gains this wavelength, in the form of an tiny veil of aura, appearing around her. This makes all of her attacks enhanced and deadly.
Retribution Mode(Locked)
- Retribution Mode is an incredibly powerful, yet dangerous technique that Shira and Kain can activate once they resonate. This mode pushes both Kain and Shira, past their limits and gives them power to rival even that of Lord Death. Once Retribution Mode is activated, Shira gains a significant boost in her overall natural physical abilities, making her deadly even without the use of Kain. The madness-infused aura produced by this mode, has several effects on Shira's body. Granting her a fast regenerative factor, allowing her to quickly heal from semi severe injuries. Retribution Mode, works almost exactly like Lord Death's Execution Mode, except that it is less flashy. Shira's appearance barely changes. The only significant features would be a thick, black aura cloaking the woman as both her soul and Kain's become one, forming into a massive soul. Shira's pupils become that of shinigami skulls as well. Kain, on the other hand, completely changes. He goes from being two dual pistols to a single heavy pulse rifle.

Equipment/Tools:
- Terminus & Desolation: The two dual pistols that Kain is seen carrying around, holstered on his waist. After being freed from Divine's watch, Kain took up a new passion, one that was vastly different from that of the sword, that Divine taught him. As such, marksmanship was the skill he settled on. Kain would study this art day in and day out, all so that he could properly wield weapons of his own. Once he had properly trained himself and learned all he needed, Kain finally began the crafting of his own personal pistols. It took quite a while, but Kain had finished creating his dual pistols. Terminus which is held in his right hand and Desolation which is held in his left hand, are both silver in color and very advanced, with Kain having built them with not only parts from the human world, but also strange and hard to find materials from the Netherworld. His two guns are unique and can not be replicated. Kain has used these guns to fire off high precision attacks and on rare occasions, firing small needle-sized bullets at his opponent, targeting his their nerves and blood vessels to incapacitate and cause severe pain.
Hope's Dreams: Hope's Dreams is the name of the pendant that Kain now carries with him. Unbeknownst to the rest of his family and even Shira, the pendant was given to Kain by Divine himself, years before his death. As he was given this, Divine told him that, the one who wears this ring is recognized as the true heir of the Demon Throne and Divine's heir. Back when Divine was alive and known as Vincent, the pendant had been passed down from generation to generation in his family, but after he became a demon, he chose to abandon such things and with no blood-related children to hand it to, he gave it to Kain, instead. Before it was known by Hope's Dreams, it went by another name, which was Noble Phoenix. This name come from the insignia of a phoenix's upper body, with it's mighty wings spread, that was the centerpiece. As of now, Kain does not wear his pendant around his neck or on any visible part of his body, but keeps it with him at all times. Kain no longer sees himself as Divine's heir or blood-child, as he has been shown the truth and now he plans on giving the pendant to either Mirai or Vincent, though whichever one he chooses, will be recognized as Divine's true heir and become the protector of the family.
Skills/Attributes:
- Immense Speed and Reflexes: He is naturally fast, agile and has quick reflexes, being able to move and redirect his opponent's attacks with ease. He has shown time and time again to be able to close enormous distances in the time-span of a few moments. Using his agility, Kain is able to to use the battlefield to his advantage, jumping from wall to wall, as well as dashing from one spot to another. All to keep his opponents unsure of his attack patterns. When in battle, Kain can use both his speed and reflexes to catch his opponent off guard and then follow up with a counter attack. He can position himself against his foe with such impressive timing, it is almost impossible to hit him. At the same time, he is capable of opening an offensive counter-strike. His enhanced perception and acute senses when in battle only increases his reflexes, which allows him to easily take advantage of the faults of foe's technique and quickly bring down all the defenses of his opponent easily.
Master Marksmen: Having thrown away his life as a swordsmen, Kain has taken up something that is very different and difficult for him, which is marksmanship, or to be more specific, guns and archery. Initially, he did not do too well, with the sudden change in forms, but as he trained himself day and night, he would slowly, but surely come to hone his skills and embrace this new style of combat. Kain no longer wields the sword, but instead, two, beautifully crafted pistols that he carry with him, holstered around his waist. He can draw his dual pistols from their holsters almost literally within the blink of an eye, and kill or wound his opponent just as fast. When firing his gun, Kain has been noted to have rather keen accuracy, almost always hitting his foe unless they are moving at great speeds.
Hand-to-Hand Combat Expert: After realizing that one can not simply depend on his or her weapon, alone, Kain had decided to train himself in various fighting stances, styles, techniques, and concepts. In the months of his disappearance, Kain went on a journey to the Netherworld and trained with many masters, memorizing many styles and techniques. Kain has no set form of combat, in fact, he uses a blend of various ones, that he has picked up from his training and masters. He constantly switches between forms, to one that better suits the situation. The idea behind Kain's fighting style is not simply to disable an opponent, but rather, the idea of subjugation and domination, seeking any and all means to crush an opponent's will and fighting, even if it should mean using dirty tactics in order to accomplish it.
Dreams and Aspirations:
- There are few things in this world that he actually want, but if he was to state a dream, it would be to simply see the world changed. Due to everything that has happened in his life, Kain's view on the world and all that inhabit it, has changed. There are evil humans who commit horrible crimes, just as there are good non-humans that have only done good. The world is not black and white. He sees this now and wishes to change it so that everyone can coexist.
To one day settle his differences with his sister and become family once again.
To continue being y Shira's side, either as her partner or something more. As long as he is able to be by her, he is happy.
