Name: Miho Moyasu Nicknames: I'm a little old for that... Age: 26 Appearance: Starting Class: Warrior Starting Gift: Fire Gem Starting Armor: Sunless Set Love Interest: None Personality: Miho is an outgoing and - at times - aggressive young woman. Of all the Unkindled, she is the one who most specializes in hitting hard, and this is reflected in her approach to problems. Like all of them, however, there's a certain tinge of confusion to her actions. She doesn't know why she keeps rising from the grave, but rather than dithering and worrying, she's decided to press forward and try to find out.
She's a little hesitant to approach other people because of what she is, except where children are involved. She's not entirely sure why, but Miho is extremely protective of children, and she will do almost anything to save them from the monsters she now knows to be real. Bio: Miho was born a few decades ago as the daughter of a Japanese mother and a Norwegian father. (Her dad had been a bit too fond of Viking culture, truth be told, and had actually sailed to Asia for the express purpose of finding a wife and bringing her home. He was convinced to stay in Japan, though.) Her early years were relatively uneventful, though she was raised with an appreciation for both of her parents' cultures, and she's fairly multilingual as a result (being fluent in Japanese, English, Norwegian, and Old Norse).
The idyllic time of her life came to an abrupt end, however, when she was heading home late one night after watching a popcorn thriller at the local movie theater to celebrate landing a new job. Jian Lin Kuei had been leading an expedition to exterminate a rival crime family as part of his ascent to power, and he'd been absolutely determined to make sure the mission went well and that the family would have no cause to deny him the Grand Panacea. The chance that their rivals would hear anything before the Lin Kuei struck was remote, but Jian wasn't about to let that stop him and he ordered Kimiko to dispose of the witness.
That was Miho's first death.
When she rose several years later, the world had moved on, and she was just another missing person. Her parents had a new baby boy and had always been superstitious - Miho had effectively become a draugr, and the dead were not welcome among the living. She left her family, taking up a new name based on the flames within her, and she began to make her way across the countryside. As she did, she realized that there was far more to the world than she'd ever realized.. and there were spirits of all kinds that would not let her move in peace. The only way through was to fight... and she would not let the creatures of the night stop her.

Struggling to get his barrings, Wasame took what little time he had to try to find what was left of his sisters. And what he found of them horrified him greatly, that they lived at the expense of having to satisfy others. It almost made him wish that they had the bizarre ability that he had gotten, but from the bare survival that he has done to make it to getting a glimpse of them, he did not wish the same cruel fate. After departing to find ways stronger to help his sisters, he had stumbled upon the name of Inaba, and the supernatural hotbed that it was. Thinking that if he could go there, and utilize the magic held there, he could get the power to get his sisters out of the hellhole they are in. But to do that, he would probably need the “Souls” he had heard of in whisper.

Bio: Do you know what the difference between an assassin and a thief is? Of course you do, it’s obvious: one steals for a living while the other kills. However, when a thief steals something that leads someone to die, what’s the difference then? That’s the situation Haruna found herself in before her last moments as a human passed.
It all began when she was abandoned on the streets as a child -not only by her parents, but by orphanages as well- forcing her to fight to survive in the small town’s slums; her life having no more value than the rats' that lived in the same alleyways. Food being scarce and money even more out of reach for a girl her age made skills like stealing essential to live, and rather ‘fortunately’, Haruna found that she had a knack for learning such things and eventually caught the attention of a similar bunch - they were all thieves or criminals in some form, but none of them were arrested for killing, as a matter of fact it was an unspoken rule to never kill people.
They had a give and take relationship, however, Haruna considered them to be practically family, or so she thought…
One day on a particular run, things went south when their getaway driver was shot. Not having much of a choice, Haruna jumped into the driver’s seat and drove in his stead, but ended up hitting a girl around her age in the process. It was all still so vivid to her: long brown hair and innocent red eyes starring directly at her before looking in horror upon impact… But the thief couldn’t stop the van to check on her, she had to get her companions to safety, and she did. Afterwards though, she was killed by one of her ‘allies’ in cold blood and was left to rot and be forgotten in an isolated alleyway once again.
However, it didn't end there…
After a few days of what felt like unconsciousness, the girl rose from the ground and began living again. But what was the point? She was betrayed by the only people she thought she could trust. Was this all just a cruel joke, was her second chance only to be used for regret? No, it couldn’t have been. Deciding to change her ways (for better or for worse) Haruna traveled to the town of Inaba as her instincts instructed, and started anew (even going so far as to slightly change her appearance) while waiting for fate to kick in – using her spare time doing odd jobs in return for money or favors.

And drawn to one another, they began an affair that was forbidden on multiple levels...due to her commitment to the Church, to his Royal blood, and his own commitments to the school...so that even though they came to care for one another, their love was always a forbidden one. Still, they carried on in secret and were happy for a time, and they both continued to ascend. Then, tragedy...early in their eighteenth year, a curse fell upon her...the brand of the Dark Sign. For many, it was simply an omen of fear...but for a student of the Faith and a Sorcerer of the Dragon School of Vinheim, the mark was much worse...it was the mark of undeath, of a hopeless fate...and perhaps, even worse things to come. He knew that such a mark could be the end of her connection to the Faith, or worse, the beginning of an impossible journey for her...so they hid her curse. But later that same year, perhaps even as a result of their connection...he too, became a victim of the Dark Sign.
...Together doomed now, they swore together to face their fate and oppose the curse that had been laid upon them. Knowing that they would find it impossible to hide both their affair and their curse, they resolved to do anything...go to any length necessary...in order to fight back against hopeless fate. As long as they were together, they would never be corrupted...they would never fail. They could do anything, even overthrow the Fate of the Unkindled...even dabble in the art of Dark Hexes that might one day free them...or lead them to an impossible victory.
...But in the end, he was still a Prince...and she a humble girl of the Faith...and there were many who would begrudge her his love, and he his freedom to choose. Another woman of the Faith spied them beneath the moonlight one fateful evening, and revealed to the Church not just the affair...but the dark arts in which they had begun to dabble. And with this knowledge, they were the both of them condemned.
His love, burned at the stake for witchcraft...for betrayal of her vows and dabbling in the forbidden. Him, left behind to wait for her to return...only, she didn't...not right away, as he had expected...and not for centuries to come...
And so was he also condemned, to a life alone...to face the curse of the Unkindled alone, shattered. It was only in her memory and in reverence of the promise they had made that he picked himself up after his expulsion from the School and his family's disavowal of him as a member of the Royal Clan, and journeyed out into the world...to the place where the Old Gods once roamed.
He studied all of the magics of the Dragon School and the Dark Hexes that had been forbidden, and he grew his power to impossible heights...certain in his ability to fight any foe, to overcome any obstacle, he vowed to destroy the Lords of Cinder and do what he and his lost love promised they would do together...in her memory...and then, at the First Flame, perhaps he would discover a way to save her soul from the inevitable curse...
...Instead, he failed. He was defeated, time and time again...but rather than sleeping through the centuries, he revived. And with each death that he suffered, a little part of him died and was lost...only through the forbidden Embers did he maintain his sanity, but the knowledge that had made him so great began to fade...the fire that drove him to such peaks of confidence and power became ash...and where his heart once beat with a ferocious passion, now it was reduced to embers.

Bio: Ever since she could remember, Miriam has been part of the Way of the White. An orphan in a Kingdom of old, she was taken in by the people of the church, and she was instructed in their ways since she was a child. She was taught of the Old Gods, of the First Flame and the sacrifice Lord Gwyn had made to preserved the Age of Fire. Wholeheartedly, she believed that keeping the First Flame burning was the only way to keep the world from dying. She prayed. She did her chores. She followed the rules. A woman of the Faith. As such, she was taught of the Dark Sign and the ill omen they represented. The Branded were cast away, imprisoned or exiled, never to be seen again. Even with prayers and chants, some of their own fell to this curse, and Miriam was never entirely comfortable with the fate that awaited them, and from the bottom of her heart, she prayed for them to find the Rite of old...and come back.
She was sixteen when she met him for the first time. It started like an innocent friendship...but there was so much about him that intrigued her...so much of him that made her question and think about the world she had known...he was charming, he was gentle...they were young. They started seeing each other more, wanting more, caring for each other more... She faltered and fell in temptation.
It was wrong, forbidden, and punishable. But her feelings for the Prince were stronger than anything she had ever felt. She felt alive, free, young. For a year, they saw each other in secret, and for a year she was happy.
Then the Gods punished her for her insolence.
The Brand appeared on her one day...the mark she had learned to fear ever since she was a child. A sign of damnation. A punishment from the Gods for her weakness.
It shook her to her very core. Even when her Prince comforted her, explained to her the reason for the curse, Miriam spent days in isolation, asking for forgiveness. Then... she understood this was a test she needed to pass. With him by her side...it almost felt like she could do it. It wasn't long until he got a brand of his own...and she felt her heart faltering again.
He was the one that kept her going. He was the one who never gave up, defying their cursed fate. Together they fought...they wandered into the terrains of Dark Hexes, knowing it was their only way. They were desperate. They would exhaust every single possibility until they found a way to break free from the curse.
But things were never that easy.
One night, they were seen by another member of the church. A friend of hers, that in her jealousy, or in her own pious thinking, exposed the affair, the curse and their reading of Dark Magic.
An unforgivable sin. And the sentence was death.
She burned for what seemed an eternity, the flames licking away her sins and her faith all the same.Her only solace was that she would see him again when she woke up for a life of damnation. But together...she knew...they would finish what they started. Without fears...without anything stopping them now.
For centuries she laid in her resting place...an unmarked tomb that was only remembered and visited by one for years before he, too, was gone.
Now she returns, more than three hundred years later, in search of what was taken away from her all that time ago...
