Q: Can more than one Astral bond with a companion?
A: Yes! Though be careful with this, since a companion's soul/life force is what brings an Astral into existence.

I'd say the most an average non-tiya wielding Companion could comfortably sustain would be 3, and that'd be kind of pushing it.

A low-Tiya'd individual might be able to do 4, but their magic would be feeding some of them, so their abilities would be squeezed.

Medium Tiya could up it to 5-6, strong Tiya (like Ahi) could maybe do 7-8 and a Celestial would push it at 10.

Q. ICly, how do companions get scrolls?
A. Usually the Celestials in the Travelling Caravan seek out energies that sync with a Companion's. Sometimes they will pop up at people's doors, other time they have a stall at the market or festivals and events where people can come and try and see if they have a match.

This is the case for most 1st generation scrolls.

It is also commonplace for companions to seek out the stationary caravan to see if they will be blessed with a scroll. While the travelling caravan can be more convenient, it's also less predictable since one never really knows where they are unless it's a big event. The stationary Caravan always stays in one place, and so is often times worth the trouble of travelling there. The Stationary Caravan is located on the NE part of Perina between Barearav and New Buin.

Astrals are, ICly, not extremely common.. This is why purchasing a scroll from a merchant is expensive. Breeding scrolls can be sold to merchants, traded on the black market, or given away by companions who either do not wish to or cannot have another Astral bond to them. Most scrolls sold by Ahi merchants or on the black market are not first gens (Though their cert may say otherwise, ICly, they would have had parents). Granted, sometimes you can find a first gen scroll - but chances are the original owner is dead (Through natural or not so natural causes, depending) or the scroll was stolen from them.

Scrolls can also be gifted to family members and friends when their own Astrals breed.

Q. Technologically speaking, where does Svatura fall?
A. Svatura falls somewhere between the late Middle Ages and early Renaissance. This is a different world so we do not need to be historically accurate. Some more steam-punk like technology exists (Because insane Damza tinkerers) and we're not strict at all, so there is flexibility. If you're using the wrong kind of sword, for example, we're not going to flay you. Basically, try to keep away from modern technology and you'll be fine!

Q. What happens when either an Astral or a Companion dies?
A. When a companion dies, the lifesource that sustains their bonded astral disappears. The Astral can stick around for a small period of time, but they fade away usually within a few days after their Companion passes. Usually an Astral just doesn't have the will to remain after their bonded goes, but sometimes they will stay to deliver messages or provide comfort to their companion's loved ones.

It is POSSIBLE for an Astral to re-bond to someone else if there is someone compatible (Like a Companion's child or similar family member) but it is difficult and the Astral may not be the same (Different life forces and all). It's not common for this to happen, but it is possible. It is usually an especially strong willed Astral who can do it.

When an Astral dies, it's a shock to the Companion's system. They can almost feel the Astral's death, and the return of life energy to them is sharp and sudden. Like a pipe that has built up pressure and bursts out. It'll almost be like a piece of them has died.

Q: So how exactly do Astrals form?
A: The Companion keeps the scroll close to them and the scroll will leech their magic/energy/life depending on what they have more of. This starts the bonding process. Once the Astral has enough energy, it will emerge from it's scroll.

At that point, the bond is made and only a very tiny bit of energy is used to maintain it.

Q: Clarification on the necessity of a Companion, please?
A: Sure! Companions, ICly, are necessary for Astrals to survive. HOWEVER in the real world setting, it's recognized that not everyone would like to create a humanoid character and would prefer to focus on the pets they have art of. Companion profiles are not necessary to role play! They can simply be NPCs.

IF a question of where the Astral's companion is ever gets brought up in character, it's perfectly acceptable to say they are on an errand for them, exploring without them, trying to find them, or any number of excuses. Most likely, it will never come up, however.
