The day had been long and had taken Arivan far from his den. The setting sun was in front of him now, making him squint against the light. It would sink beneatht the tree line soon enough, leaving the forest in a mirky sort of twlight, where shadows gathered and took form. He would feel more at time once the sun had set. But, of course, the problem was that he was not at home. Nowhere near, in fact.

Flicking his dark tail at the approaching shadows, Arivan tried to decide what he should do. He could continue in the random direction that he was going and try to find someplace safe to bed down for the night, returning to his own den in the morning. Or, he could try to make it back to his den, moving through the forest as the parts of it that thrived in darkness came alive. He remembered the way, well enough, but he wouldn't get back much before dawn, and with the newly torn canopy, that would make it hard to sleep in the sunlight.

Debating in silence, Arivan stood near one of the tall trees, almost lost in shadow himself. He had set out with the dawn, no real destination in mind. No, it was more a journey to see more of the forest that he, and others, lived in. He had passed many small breaks in the ley lines which would dry up before long, but Ari had managed to snag an Etherquail for lunch, so he was grateful for them nonetheless. Now, if he could decide what to do, it would be so much better.
