Note that this thread is still under construction.

Recruitment/Training

Many members are sought out by the Agency themselves, being closely examined before even being considered for any position within.

Background checks are performed, making sure there are no criminal records, with a few exceptions, such as minor offenses and perhaps a professional thief or hacker taking on a new leaf. After careful consideration, thirty candidates at the minimum age of 24 are selected to partake in the training, which also serves as their testing. They’re brought to Castle Koehler to participate in a year-long training process, systematically disqualifying those who fail tasks until ten remain, and the remaining ten graduate to become official field agents. The others are either sent back home or offered roles in the subsidiary divisions, most often security.

Agents have mandatory retirement from field work at the age of fifty, but can integrate into a different position, some retired agents potentially being invited to become the Director.

Those who plan on merely being computer hackers, technicians or the like only have to go through an orientation (along with backgrounds checks, of course), before being integrated into the organization. The process can take up to a month, due to how classified the work is.

Organization

There is always one appointed director of the ISIA whom leads the agency. There are various divisions within the Agency that work alongside field agents to support them throughout their missions. The field agents themselves have official ranks distinguishing them, with commanders and officers being designated during missions or at bases, often based on seniority or particular skills. Different ranks allow different levels of clearance, ranging from 1-10.

Technology/Equipment

Seeker mines are special mines that scan for hostile targets in the direction it’s rolled. It can recognize agents in order not to activate if they’re too close to its area of effect, and the mines have varying types: shock, fragment, incendiary, smoke, and flash.

Sonic tasers, often paired with soundproof earpieces, the sonic taser is a hand-held, non-lethal, anti-personnel weapon, designed to incapacitate an enemy by inducing paralysis. It’s most effective for those within a 15 foot radius, with those within 10 almost completely incapacitated. It’s used mainly for situations where a lack of hearing isn’t a disadvantage.

Face masks are special masks created using a 15x15 inch printer that produces lifelike masks. It takes face mask to a very literal level, as they can be custom printed to fit over the user’s face almost perfectly. It is often supplemented by the voice changer, a device voice synthesization technology that can recognize voice patterns and produces the same—similar at the least—voice. A smaller scale tool derived from this is the fingerprint mask which mimics fingerprints.

The mobile turret is a small turret in the shape of a simple briefcase when not in use. It can be activated by unlatching and opening.

The grapnel gun is a common tool used by agents to scale buildings. It can be fired and attached to the agent, the cable reaching up to 50 feet. The gun works by pulling the trigger to fire the cable that retracts and stops by pulling the trigger at the appropriate times; holding it allows the holder to be pulled up by the cable. As a safety measure, it temporarily stiffens at a length of 3 feet in order to slowly recede back into place with no harm to the holder.

The smartwatch is a device issued to all agents, which comes in many different designs, all with inert communication devices, GPS, and tracking beacons, as well as being a timepiece as intended. Contrary to the model, it may have certain functions such as darts with varying effects, a small laser, or perhaps a garrote.

A common tool is an agent’s smartglasses, which can function as actual glasses for the visually impaired (as well as sunglasses) while likewise utilizing nanotechnology to serve as a multifunctional gadget, varying designs to look like common eyewear. They may provide a HUD interface, recording technology which can be observed by an external source, and varying eye filters such as infrared. They may even be able to access the agency database for information about targets and recognize them with facial recognition software, even mapping capabilities. While not quite as developed, there are also camera contacts, with can only record and take pictures.

Another common tool is the multifunctional pen, which can come with many different purposes, and they are made identical to popular pen brands to better conceal them.

The scanner pen scans at a rate of over three inches per second. It can read wavy and distorted images, as well as colored text and numbers, and text on colored backgrounds.

In some more discreet occasions, agents may use bladed footwear, such as dress shoes that trigger a blade to protrude at the tip if the heels are clicked.

The more eccentric tech may call for cane swords and cane guns for the dapper agent. Make no mistake, they are deadly weapons.

Explosive gel is a common tool, one released from a gel gun, used similarly to a hot glue gun.

Fort Sutherland is the main headquarters of the ISIA, a stronghold that has the exterior of an old Scottish fort, but conceals the base built within the hillside and underneath the old fort itself. Built like an impregnable bunker, the Fort has always been the base of operations for the ISIA.

The courtyard of the castle is intentionally left empty due to the large circular door that opens to expose the hangar, where all aircrafts are stored. There are two other common entrances, elevators at the hillside of the Old Fort with 24 floors, 12 of them below ground with the 13th floor as the ground floor. The many levels of the Fort are divided to serve for various offices and housing.

Note that the floors are still in need of updating!

West Tower – Air Traffic Control Center
East Tower – Security Tower
North Tower – Holding Cells
South Tower – Security Tower
24th Floor – Director’s Office/Meeting Room
23rd Floor – Communication Center
21st Floor – Generator Room
19th Floor – Surveillance Center
14th Floor – Gym/Indoor Gardens
13th Floor (Ground Floor) – Old Fort
12th - 9th Floors – Hangar
8th - 6th Floor – Medical Wing
5th Floor – Dormitories
1st - 4th Floors – Tech Wing

Castle Koehler was given to the ISIA by Heinz Koehler in 1955 so that they would be able to train agents in a discreet location distant from the public eye. Ever since, all new recruits have gone to the Castle in order to go through the training process, in which the top ten out of thirty candidates graduate to become official field agents. It is here where they hone their skills over the course of a year, but it is not for the faint of heart.
