Hi, i barely managed to get this thing to finally work.

What thing?

The japanese transliteration keyboard thing for windows. Its the thing with the little blue outlined box with "EN", "JP" and other language tools, and a side column for things like hiragana, full width katakana and so on.

Can anyone write up an easy guide on "HOW TO" to reliably turn this thing on and off? Even at school the teachers had some trouble getting it to work reliably and there's so many steps to get it to work that I don't know anyone who remembers them all. I fear i could pass out tonight and forget whatever it was (about 200 clicks later) I needed to activate it.

I've also noticed there's a sort of lag for it to load between loading text documents.

I do everything manually.. LOL.. but this is what I do...

If you want to type Japanese, make sure that after you go to the "EN" and change it to "JP", CLICK the field where you will be typing. An "A" should come up beside the "JP". Click the "A" and choose "Hiragana" to begin typing Japanese. When you want English again, you don't have to get out of "JP" mode, just click the "A" again (which now should show as a hiragana "a"), and choose "Direct Input".

If you just can't find the "A" sometimes, it's because you haven't clicked a field that you can actually type in.

at school we have the program on dozens of computers in the international office. The problem is, even with the same program and identical computers, it still glitched on 2-3 people out of about 20-30 every time. Even i got glitched pretty bad twice during the quarter.

That's enough personal experience with the program to know its not always going to work, and for those who it works for, they are lucky. There's some really messed up steps to get it to work I havent even seen any of you post yet.

For example, whne you start up a computer without the effect enabled, you have to first go to start menu

then go to settings

then go to control panel

then go to regional language options

then click the tab dealing with languages

then click the details button, but only if the foreign language boxes are clicked. If they are not clicked you have to install your Windows disk before clicking them.

then in text services and input languages in details, you have to add the japanese keyboard option in both clumns.

Then you need to restart your computer most likley,

then you need to mess with your start menu bar Next to the EN, you click options

it gets pretty messy from here.
