Arivan paced silently under the cool shadows cast by the canopy overhead. The part if the forest he called home was full of shadows, the trees grown close together with ivy binding the high leaves together, all fighting for sunlight. There was little in the way of brush or undergrowth, just wide dark paths winding through the trees. The ground was either bare of anything save dirt, or covered with leaves. It was easy to move quietly, listening to the birds above and the smaller creatures that moved just out of sight. Idly, Arivan wondered if he would see any eitherquail or cottonbuns nearby. If so, it would probably mean that there was a break in the ley lines near the surface. This would please him, since he was a bit hungry.

It was midday, not that you could tell from where the sun was in the sky since the sky could not be seen. Ari paused in one of the wider sections of the path, almost a clearing, where a stream ran through. It was a small, quiet thing, but it was crystal clear and was quite cool on the tongue. Perfect refreshment after a long walk.

“We are not always what we seem, and hardly ever what we dream.”

As fate would have it she was not the only one out and about on this fine spring day. Though she was fairly certain there were always others wandering around, even if she did not see them. Her ears turned slightly as she moved along and her feathers swayed lightly behind her. Had she a tail she would have flicked it but she did not and she was actually okay with this. One less object for someone to grab ahold of. Though her feathers could just as easily be snagged up as well. The only difference was those were able to grow back, a tail could not. Her pale gaze fell upon the dark male as she approached the small and tranquil stream. Her footsteps light as she neared the waters edge not to far down the stream from where he drank.

She debated, for a moment, if she should say hello first or drink. She decided on the earlier mentioned idea. "Good afternoon." Her voice was light and carried itself on the breeze in a sort of harmonic tune, but was still easily heard. She dipped her head to the cool waters and drank as she kept her eyes on him for safety reasons.

“Her voice left a flavor of honey and gunpowder on the air.”

Arivan felt his ears twitch at the sound of soft footfalls, making him pause and lift his head just slightly so he could see who was approaching. It was a female Elykosi, though she looked a bit... different that he thought a female would. He had never met another of his kind, male or female, so perhaps all of them had feathers instead of a tail, and only had antlers coming out from their faces. For some reason, Arivan didn't think that was likely, that others regardless of gender looked more like him than her. That she was something special. Arivan wondered what her would look like in full sun, for he knew she was lovely in the shadows.

Tilting his head as she spoke, Arivan wondered what he should say. Some sort of responce was expected, obviously. Even as she bent her head to drink, she keep an eye on him. Probably both in interest to see what he was going to do, and as a precaution. Which he could understand. Arivan twitched his tail, a moving shadow among the ones behind him. Around the stream was lighter than near the trees, but still, if he didn't move, he could blend in quite easily.

After letting the silence drag on for a bit, not with intent, just him taking his time deciding how to respond. Her greeting was simple and short, so he would keep his words limited as well.

"Hello." He raised his head to speak to her directly instead of at the water, hoping she would hear. Not tht he had much to say. Conversations were not his strong suit, since he had spent his time in silence and alone. He had a limited idea of the polite things to say, but beyond that... he didn't really know.

No worries! And no rush on it. I know you haven't forgotten about it so I am okay with waiting. <3

“We are not always what we seem, and hardly ever what we dream.”

The silence that stood between them seemed to last forever when his voice finally returned a greeting. It was a satisfactory enough of a response for her and she allowed herself a moment to turn her gaze from him and look around a moment before settling her gaze back on him. "I wasn't disturbing you was I?" She asked as she dipped her head to the stream and drank from it, her eyes still locked onto his form. It was just cautionary for her to do so, she distrusted all until she got a chance to know them better. If she decided they were worth getting to know at least.

The area was quite lovely and held a lot of promise, though she had quite a nice patch of territory of her own that she claimed as hers and wasn't looking to take this land, be it his or no. She was sure in time she would have to defend her territory a bit more but as of right now there weren't too many others gallivanting around for her to have to keep an eye on. They just showed up now and again, like some sort of a mythical creature. "I am called Damia, May I know your name?" She figured she might as well get the pleasantries out there now instead of later.

User ImageArivan considered her again, wondering at her question. Obviously, she was not too concerned with whether or not she had distrurbed him, or she wouldn't have spoken up in the first place. He decided to wait until she spoke again before replying. Arivan was unsure as to how to take the question, so he was content to ignore it for now.

Arivan watched her take a look around, letting his tail twitch once to show his discontent. He didn't call this particular part of the forest his, but it was close enough to his glade, and therefore his den, that the idea of someone moving near him was distinctly... unpleasant. Still, she didn't seem apt to challenge for territory, so he just twitched his tail once more.

After her introduction, Ari figured that he should probably respond before she decided she wanted to move on, find someone else to talk to who might actually talk back.

"Damia." Arivan said his name, not so much as to catch her attention, but to try it out, see what it felt like to say. "Yes, you may. Arivan." He paused, thinking over what he said, before offering a claification. "You can call me Arivan." He paused again, remembering she has said something earlier. "You are not distrubing me. I merely stopped here to drink. I was wandering without intent, so there is nothing for you to disturb."

Rolling his shoulders so that his lavender antlers shifted, not quite connecting over his back. It wasn't meant to be threatening. Arivan just wasn't used to being still for so long when he wasn't hunting.

"What brings you to this part of our forest? He hoped that wasn't intrusive beyond what was polite, but he had very little interaction with others, so he was unsure. Still, if she could take offense, she could always take her leave of him, or he of her.
