The Force Awakens
Ven Loki
Oh, I was also one of those who thought it was supposed to be a flashback of the slaughter at the Jedi temple. Interesting.
I also completely missed that Kylo kills one of the Knights of Ren.
What do I think about that?
REDEMPTION ARC! REDEMPTION ARC! REDEMPTION ARC! //slams fists on table
This gives me hope that both Rey and Kylo might actually end up as grey jedi.
I actually went back and watched Rey's flashback scene on my copy of TFA and noticed the shot where Kylo is holding what looks like Luke's lightsaber, isn't actually in the movie. It was in the official trailer. So now it's like is it canon that he was holding the saber, if it was cut from the movie?
Regardless, I honestly don't know what to think about it. Assuming Kylo did have Luke's saber, it really could go either way. I could imagine Kylo somehow getting the upper hand on Luke during the massacre and taking his saber. I could also imagine the Knights of Ren scene being a premonition. I have so many questions and ideas for the Knights of Ren and it kills me we didn't get more backstory for them in TFA.
Is the guy he kills one of the Knights of Ren? I used to think it was Constable Zuvio that Kylo kills, but Pablo Hidalgo confirmed it wasn't him. The TFA novel just describes the guy he killed as a "warrior." Either way, I think Kylo was definitely saving Rey. I think a redemption arc would be really cool if they did it right. At this point, Kylo has killed his own father to commit himself to the Dark Side. Snoke is going to complete Kylo's training. I don't know if I could see Kylo coming back from all of this, unless something really crazy happened lol. Seeing grey Jedi in canon in any form would be awesome!I wouldn't consider it canon if it was cut entirely (as in, not even included in the deleted scenes).
I'm pretty sure it's one of the knights. He has the same hat and weapon as one of the Knights of Ren in the concept art.
But yeah... I'm also wondering how Kylo could possibly be redeemed... saving Rey from his own men definitely won't make up for killing his own father. Still hoping he'll eventually take down (or at least help to take down) Snoke though.
I'm also 100% confused about WHY THE HELL they would give him a line like "I will finish what you started"... when we all know that the whole point of Darth Vader's story was that he chose to NOT finish what he started.
emotion_donotwant That bothers me most about the whole movie.
