Orphia sniffed the air around her. This area was rich in mana, it's sweet scent permeating the area. She was getting closer to the Monolith, her birthplace. Every now and then, a tiny shard would break off of the massive crystal monolith and a wandering wisp would catch it, gaining new life.
This was where she gained her life, as many Elykosi did. It was also her first time returning in the four years of her life. Despite the Monolith being a 'nursery' of sorts for the young wisps and kits born here, it was not uncommon for full grown Elykosi to return. Some like to come and give guidance to the newborns, as they have no true parents.
Though in Orphia's case, she had no intentions to raise a kit just yet, she liked being alone. Instead, she came to forage on the abundant mana-infused berries here. And for a bit of nostalgia.
Settling down by a bush, she could just get a glimpse of the Monolith through the dense trees. Munching messily on a juicy berry, she admitted it from afar and zoned out.

It was warm. A glowing, ebbing warmth that seemed to envelope everything like a heavy mist after a summer rain. And it was bright. It was much too bright, in fact. And there was noise, quiet at first. Rustling, chattering, twittering, buzzing and whirring, a hum of the surrounding nature, the very essence of life. It grew louder. It was much too loud.
A little blue kit suddenly bolted up on its little feet, then tumbled back down with a pitiful cry. A rush of sensations, of grass, of the smell of the wind, of having material form. She opened her eyes and drew in a long breath. It was as if she could smell the warmth in the air, a soothing presence of sorts.
And though everything around her looked beautiful and felt good, another quiet cry emanated from her. Was this her home? Where was she to go? What was she to do next?

Orphia seemed peaceful, soaking in mana around her. She hardly seemed to notice the occasional wisp, lifeless or not, that wandered too close. But what did break her reverie was a pitiful cry. Her ears flicked in its direction before her head turned, and instinct made her stand. Instinct led her, step after step, towards the crying, whether she wanted to or not.
When next she knew it, she stood before a small, blue kit. Without a word, she simply dropped the bunch of mama berries still dangling from her mouth, and settled down beside it. Surely the kit had enough tiny teeth to break the skin of a berry and suckle on its juices. It would learn to feed eventually on its own if course, Elykosi are an intelligent and hardy kind. But Orphia supposed it wouldn't hurt to give this one a head start.
She cocked her head at the youngling and stared at it curiously, her tail swishing gently.
((Oh btw i don't think i added this info anywhere but kits can speak, but it's mostly baby talk. Where wisps are akin to newborns, kits are like toddlers or very small children :>))

Sumu felt someone approach her as the gentle soothing warmth seemed to shift and peel away from her, and she craned her neck to look up at whoever was there. Squinting in the brightness of the day, she rolled over to prone. Oh, how tall was the stranger! And radiant! Her ears pricked up on their own volition as an offering of mana berries was dropped to her.
"'Hoo?", she cooed quizzically, though seemingly distracted by the sweet scent of the berries. "What?", she questioned more sternly as she reached her soft little paw at the bunch, batting at it like a little kit would.
Looking back up at Orphia. "Who?", she repeated more clearly, though it was perhaps ambiguous whether she meant the adult Elykosi, or herself. It was all awfully confusing to Sumu, it seemed like a moment ago she was not in possession of such a form, or perhaps it was a long time ago. With each passing moment it became harder to remember what, where or why she was, before she was here.

Orphia chuckled at the kit's pawing. Did it not yet know what food was? The vixen bent down and plucked a berry from the rest, eating it as an example.
"It's yummy," she said matter-of-factly, mouth half-full of berry flesh.
Looking down at the little kit, she answered it, "My name is Orphia, i used to be little, like you." She bent down again and bopped the kit with her nose. It was a surprise to herself, she was not usually the friendly sort. But her instinct to nurture seemed to overpower her loner disposition. She couldn't help but crack a soft smile at the little thing.

Sumu observed the older female consume the berry and her little soul filled with enthusiasm and delight at the phenomenon of eating. Her fur bristled and fluffed as she pawed at the fruit excitedly. It felt firm under her soft paw pads, so perfectly smooth, so very shiny. She could hardly contain herself, but looked back up to Orphia as she spoke again.
Boop. Her nose wrinkled and she let out a delighted little murmur, pawing up at Orphia's face (though not being very successful as she lay on her belly) and eventually reaching up so high that she flopped onto her side.
"Sumu," she stated matter-of-factly back at the adult. Without context it might have been hard to decipher what that meant, but it was most likely how the kit identified itself.
Her tail swished and her eyes squinted, as she peered up at Orphia. That the big and tall Oprhia had been small, like herself? It struck Sumu as a silly thing. She rolled over onto her back clumsily and tread the air with her feet, trying to reach at the rays of sunshine only to discover that light had no mass to touch. Then she looked at the monolith and quickly sprung to her feet, almost tripping over the delicious berries.
"What this?"

Sumu. It was a cute name, fitting for the tiny azure ball of fluff.
Orphia yawned as the kit explored the world around her. It must be a lot to take in for the little thing. She wouldn't be surprised if the little thing would get worn out from it all. But she was surprised to see it still full of such energy as it inquired about the Monolith.
"Hm?"
Absent-mindedly, she looked in its direction for a while, as if trying to remember, yes, well what is this. "Ah yes, that is the Crystal Monolith. Your birthplace, little Sumu. The crystal hearts of every Elykosi can trace its origins to this prime crystal. Even yours." she said, smiling.

"Birthplace," the little ball of fluff repeated sternly. She felt so very much at home, at ease and filled with contentment in the presence of the Crystal Monolith. The construct felt like an all encompassing embrace, but without mass nor body. The kit chirruped softly. Then, a distraction. A cooing gurgle emerged from the kit's body. It was her belly rumbling, demanding sustenance. "What?" She exclaimed, surprised.
She didn't quite understand how a body worked, or what was this emptiness she felt. Then she remembered the mana berries that she had almost tread on just a moment ago. Her ears perked and flopped a little awkwardly as she leaned back down to sniff at them, then nipping at them.
The kit's fur bristled with delight as she tasted the berry. Without lie, her volume in terms of coat fluffiness must have almost doubled. "Orphia, Birthplace (it seemed to refer to the Crystal Monolith as an entity), these so good!" The kit gnawed at the berries enthusiastically and gobbled up the lot in a blink of an eye.
"Orphia, good." Sumu murmured in gratitude.
