Caine squeaked, not intending to make her feel bad. He was used to others making fun of his appearance, he'd expected no less of anyone he'd ever met. But to hear he'd accidentally screwed up his kids.. That was a harsh enough matter to make him re-think things. "I-I know." He paused, trying to think about how to word it, "I.. Kind of screwed them up being a weird looking guy." There. That was it. "I didn't.. I honestly didn't know that's how babies were made" Caine blushed. He'd managed to maintain a massive degree of innocence through his years. He'd seen some things, but he'd never once thought children could happen for him. He was pretty sure there were more deformities inside him than there were out.
He was grateful for the change back to Iset's third eye. "There's other worlds out there?" He blinked, looking up from their daughter to Bastet. "And you two are lucky enough to see them? That's amazing!" He grinned, bouncing back from a dark place with ease. "But you're bound to another? Like a pae familiar?" His grin darkened a little at the thought. He had to wonder if Iset or Khonsu would be bound like that as well. Maybe they were, and it was to their parents? Or they were free. Free to live as normal a life as they could. "Maybe they're lucky and won't have to worry about anything heavy like that." Hope. They had hope, and it was a lot.

"I... Uh..,oh..." Bastet paused, at a loss for words from what Caine had to say. Bastet wasn't normally bashful, but she couldn't help but blush from the way he approached the topic of how their babies had come to be.
She was grateful for the change of subject because she really hadn't an idea of what to say to that. "Uhm... Sort of. It's the same world, just a different..." Bastet wasn't sure how to explain what she saw with her third eye, "It is more of a spiritual thing." It was difficult to explain to someone who couldn't and would never see it. She wasn't sure it was necessarily lucky to see the things that she could see, it was just another thing that made their daughter unique, that much was certain. Her daughter would be normal in that she wasn't bound to another, at least that was the hope.
"Sort of," it was another thing that was difficult to explain, this even more so because Bastet didn't understand it either. It was how she came to exist on Telrunya, and that was all Bastet really understood apart from the fact that she was forever connected to Zecora. "Perhaps if you raise them, they will not know such burdens." It made sense to Bastet that they might have a more carefree life with this make. Maybe. He had plenty of burdens of his own it seemed.

He nodded, completely understanding it was a lot different to see than to explain. And he did. Things were a lot different for him than he could ever hope to put into words. The shetani had to admire her even more for her ability to put words to any part of what she could see. "It sounds amazing~ Like a really awesome gift the two of you share ^^" Caine smiled, wondering how many times she'd had to try and explain it to curious pae like him.
She suggested him raising the kids. He blinked, looking at her in a moment of shock. Did that mean she didn't want to be there with them? "Why don't we raise them together? Iset has your third eye, and that's something I could never help her with." He suggested, thinking of nothing but the two little ones. "I'm sure they'd be far happier with two parents instead of one." Caine tried not to squeak. Surely their kids would be better off if the two of them were at least near one another.

Bastet was quiet in her thoughts. She just wasn't sure how it would work for them to raise the two together. Bastet didn't exactly want to just leave him with both children, she already knew how difficult that was. Although it did sound like he had family around, and they might help, but really neither one of them could assume that they would.
Bastet took a deep breath, stroking her son's hair, trying to wrap her mind around the best way to do this. Did she want to live with this male, not really. She hardly knew him, and while she could get to know him, would they even really care for each other once they got to know each other? She could live nearby, but she would either be over all the time to the point that she might as well live here, or one parent would be burdened with all the work.
"Perhaps... Maybe while they are young." Bastet finally answered. Teenagers hardly cared about their parents anyways, so they could likely reevaluate their living situation then.

Caine didn't press her for a response. He was busy trying to think how best to give them all a place to live. While it was being built Bastet could stay with him or in one of the guest homes that were scattered about the village. A place for visiting pae to stay. There were enough pae in the village that knew how to craft a home, and would gladly help so long as he made the effort to get all the materials. He could ask his dad for help with that since his claws weren't really good for chopping down trees...
Of course, all of that was if she agreed to stay and raise them together. Regardless, he'd still want to have somewhere for either of the babies if they chose to stay with him when they were older. He'd always want to have room for them, no matter what. When she agreed to it, Caine wasn't shocked or surprised. He was ecstatic, of course! "You will?" He smiled from ear to ear. This meant as soon as they were done in here he'd go around looking for a spare bed for their children. He was fairly certain none of the guest homes had baby things in it, which meant he'd have to borrow until he could craft their own. But that was fine, he was going to get to be a part of their lives! None of the rest of it mattered so much right then!

Bastet nodded her head slowly, still weighing on the words she had just spoken. It wasn't as if she would go back on her words. The conclusion she had come to was truly the best decision that could be made, but it was still a thought she had to adjust to.
Now that this had been decided she wasn't sure what else to say, so she nibbled on the food, avoiding having to talk again. It was strange, perhaps she should get to know him or give him a chance considering the amount of time they would be spending together from here on out, but Bastet wasn't really sure where to begin. This was such a weird place to begin a friendship from. "So... You like living in this village?" It had been a long time since she had lived in a village herself, but it was a lifestyle she had been used to at one point.

She asked about the village. He squeaked, snapping out of his thoughts of building. Caine smiled, "I love it here. After everyone got over the claws," he clicked his free one for emphasis. It was clear, even to him, what she thought about the appendages he had for hands, "they made sure I was welcomed with open arms. We want for very little around here too." He nodded, not thinking about it too much. Really, everyone did their part and it was a highly sought after village. "We all share sentry detail, everyone takes a turn in the mill... And we all happily help when it comes to things like building and making furniture." Yep. Where else could a pae like him expect to learn how to grow vegetables or help in his dad's toxin garden? While Caine still wasn't sure what the toxic plants were for, he did get to learn a valuable lesson from them. Avoid at all costs.
"I'm sure you're going to enjoy it here, once you get used to it~" He smiled again, deciding this was best. Sure, it was a little bit of a scramble, but it was worth it.

Bastet raised her eyebrows and let out a small laugh when he mentioned the village getting over his claws. It was strange to think that he was aware of how uncomfortable others were with his claws, but he had to be. she was just amazed that he was so relaxed about it and coild almost make fun of himself for them, and yet they still bothered him because he talked about messing up their kids. Their kids. This was going to take a while to get used to.
"Perhaps I might." Bastet wondered if she would be expected to Sentry and work in the mill as well. It made sense that she would need to. "Do you know if there are others like me here?" Her ears flicked with her curiousity.

Caine smiled again, this time not nearly as excited as he had been only a moment prior. "You're the first like you I've seen in the village." Of course, it meant he thought she was the most gorgeous furry lady he'd ever met. But she was also the only one he'd ever met. He'd spotted a few like her at the Venus parties, but only rarely and never in great length. She was the first who'd felt he wasn't a complete horror to talk to.
Maybe a subject change was in order. "If you help build the home you'll live in, you won't be asked to do anything for a while. If everyone else is doing it for you, I think they'll ask you to work almost immediately." He thought on it a moment, "It might be different though, since you've got these two little guys. Or you could move in here. We can add an extra room pretty easy..." His mind was back on things he could do to make her adjustment to the village easier. "I think there are a few spare cribs floating around somewhere. Khonsu and Iset can use them until we can get some made just for them. That shouldn't take too long. It's the bed and furniture for later that'll take the longest." Mostly because he wanted to make sure what was crafted wasn't shoddy. They deserved the best he could offer, even if it happened to be things he couldn't make.

Bastet gave it some more thought, wondering how she was going to build a home with these two little ones around. She supposed that was what Caine was for, helping out with kids. Perhaps it would be better for her to work off her home anyways. She wasn't really a house building type and might be of more use elsewhere.
This was all happening so fast. Bastet hadn't been sure what to expect when she came here, but she certainly hadn't expected this. How quickly had they come to the decision that she would move here. "I'm sorry," she apologized, "this is a lot to take in. Cribs will probably be good though." She was less concerned about beds and such, she was used to sleeping on the forest floor and not any of these other things.

Caine smiled a little, wondering just how overwhelming this was going to be for the both of them. Surely Bastet was feeling it already. A little voice in the back of his head told him he was smiling a lot and should stop. He didn't want to look creepy because he was constantly smiling. Caine nodded, understanding where Bastet was coming from.
"It's okay Bastet. I'm still trying to not freak out about these two little guys." sweatdrop He resisted shaking his head or sighing. "You don't have to answer anything or really do much of anything till you've had a chance to settle and rest a bit." Caine offered, wondering just how far off he might be with the suggestion of giving her time and space. That's what other pae needed right? Oh Guardians, he didn't have nearly enough experience with dealing with other pae! He'd only just been starting to make friends! The clawed shetani smiled down to the little girl in his arms. She was so quiet. They both were. Were the little ones sleeping? Is that what he was missing? Caine gently nudged Istet's cheek with his claw, careful not to get any of the sharp parts near her soft baby flesh. "They are sleeping?" He asked, suddenly unsure. What if they weren't sleeping? Did his presence mess them up that badly?! A subtle chirping from behind settled Caine's momentary freak out. As the bird landed on his shoulder Caine took a deep breath, releasing it, and then smiling to Bastet again.
"Please, help yourself to anything. Tweets can help you get settled while I go track down a crib." He offered, deciding it was probably his best course of action.

Bastet gave Caine a small smile. She was all too familiar with how overwhelming this was. She had to wonder if she was doing the right thing. She needed the help, but was this guy cut out for it? Not that she could say much on that since she wasn't cut out for this either. "I'll do what I can." Bastet agreed, she couldn't really wait idly around either, she needed to get out and at least do something more than take care of these kids. "Yes, they are sleeping." Bastet agreed. "The long walk put them into a deep sleep and they are still little." She nodded her head at his words, she'd be grateful to have a place to set the kids down.
